  1. My husband filed his I-751 in July 2021 (still pending — case status is “case received”, it’s an SRC case) and shortly thereafter received an NOA about his green card being extended for 18 months. So at that time it appeared that the green card would expire in 2/2023.

Now, I’m reading that evidently people were issued new NOAs for 24 month extensions instead, but we never received this! Apparently these were issued over a year ago, to others. The USCIS website says I can log into our account and “print the notice”, but I’m not able to find any notice or even any section for communications inside MyUSCIS account. There is a “tools” section that will not open when I click on it, and I’m not sure that area has a section for communications anyway.

    So, questions:

    - does anyone know how to print the NOA online?

    - should my husband get that I-551 stamp put in his passport instead, and if so does that require calling USCIS to get an Info Pass appointment?

    - does applying for N-400 (which he’s eligible to file now) give any type of automatic extension to the green card instead?

We are feeling confused and don’t have time to do much digging through info right now as I am on maternity leave and have barely time to even type this. Any help is appreciated!

Edit: My apologies, I think I posted this in the wrong forum. Can it be moved by a moderator? Thank you

  2. I spoke to an officer on the phone last night who told me that I do not need to go to the Nashville interview, even though the day before the other officer had read to me that there was a chance our case could be dropped for not attending. The people who answer the phone initially are immigration officers, right? They would not let me speak to a tier 2. The one last night also told me that this does not meet criteria for having an InfoPass appointment at our local office. Overall, not much clarity. Feels like a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. :(

  3. Hello, my husband and I are in the process of doing his AOS (he came here on K1 visa). We have a small local field office that generally moves very quickly, so we were surprised that it took a while to get an interview. Yesterday we found out the reason why: the interview has been scheduled in Nashville instead of our small field office next door! Presumably this is because when we applied we lived in TN, however we have since moved to SC (and we did do the online address change and received the confirmation letter; additionally most of our recent correspondence from USCIS has been sent to the correct, SC address since then, so we are not sure why this interview letter was sent to TN (luckily my mother intercepted it)).

I called USCIS yesterday and was not able to speak to a tier 2 officer (it was nearing 8 pm and they stated the tier 2 queue was full for the day). The person I spoke to told me she was going to "enter a message to the local office" about our situation and that there would likely be a response within 30 days; she also gave me a confirmation number. Unfortunately our interview in Nashville is scheduled for earlier than the 30 day time frame, on July 16. I asked the officer if it is "safe" to not show up in Nashville, and she just read me information that basically stated that every attempt should still be made to attend the Nashville interview. I am worried that if we don't attend the Nashville interview and that the switch has not been communicated to them, they will consider our case abandoned.

I plan to call USCIS again this evening and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer and request an InfoPass appointment at my local office (ours doesn't do online InfoPass scheduling or walk-ins -- not sure if any of them do!). I would feel better if we had the opportunity to discuss this in person with an officer and have some type of written rescheduling document. Is the tier 2 officer likely to grant this appointment?

I know that there are several threads about this type of situation due to searching these forums neurotically, however most are from a while ago, and there has been a lot of conflicting advice (i.e. showing up in Nashville won't help, and they will turn you away because you're outside their jurisdiction vs. it doesn't matter if you don't show up, just wait on the rescheduled appointment). Taking two days off work to go to this interview is possible but of course a huge inconvenience as I'm sure it would be for most people, so I'm struggling with what to do. I am happy to go to Nashville if that will "count" as our AOS interview, but I'm not sure if they will accept that since we live in SC! And since the officer I spoke to yesterday already put in some type of message. I feel in my gut that it's unlikely we'll hear a response/rescheduled appointment notice prior to July 16th, so I guess this is a decision we will just have to make on our own.

So has anyone else dealt with this issue more recently? Or have any advice? It's much appreciated! :)

  4. I think I remember that being part of the AOS packet, that’s right. Thanks for your responses above.

I just saw that we could still technically apply for an EAD under c9 status due to having a pending AOS, but I wonder if that would be worth it? His AOS update has been, “ready for interview to be scheduled” since the first week of March, and our local field office is pretty small. We’re just not sure how much longer this might take.

  5. I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.

My now-husband came to the US on a K1 visa last June, and we submitted an application for an SSN along with the I-94 soon after. It’s been a long time since all this happened, so I’m not quite sure about the details, but basically the local SS office said they had to send it for manual verification, I believe. This took weeks, I think even a couple of months. By the time they did this, they said the I-94 had expired (but it hadn’t expired by the time we submitted the actual application!). Because the I-94 was now expired, they told us there’s nothing they can do and that he cannot receive an SSN until after adjustment of status is completed. We (apparently stupidly) didn’t apply for an EAD as I’d thought I’d read that it’s a moot point and that by the time it comes there’s not much time to use it before it expires. So now my husband has not had a SSN all this time, and it has caused a lot of frustration with insurance and taxes, etc. Has anyone else been in this situation before? I’m not sure what, if anything, we can do now except wait for his AOS to be completed. After that it will be easy to apply for an SSN, right?

I had the same message. Just ignore. When you have submittet the application you can pay the fee. When thats done, the embassy Will email you and you can order an appointment for the interview. When thats clear, they email you the confirmation of the date, and the norwegian adress will show up. Home delivery.

Awesome, thank you so much! :)

  7. Hey all. I have a question, and I could not find the answer on here anywhere with a search. Someone had asked before, but it was never answered (years ago in the original Scandinavians thread).

So my fiancé (who is Norwegian and lives in Norway) and I got the checklist from the Swedish embassy today, so went ahead and filled out his DS-160 (it did not have us pay any fees, we just printed the confirmation page at the end). After that, we went to that ustraveldocs website for Sweden, and when we were filling it out we noticed it said in several places on the application that visa documents will ONLY be mailed to addresses in Sweden. It did not even give us the option to put Norway in the address area. As far as I understand, the purpose of providing the address is so that the passport can be mailed back to you with the visa inside afterwards, so we did not want to submit it before checking on this. He sent a message to the Swedish email address thing to ask for help, but we will probably not hear back from them for a while. Does anyone know what to do about this -- just ignore it, or are we using the wrong application, etc?

    Thanks! :)

    yaaaaay congrats!!!!!! :) awesooomeeeeeeeeeeee

Thanks! Haha. I had mentioned the approval a couple days ago (not trying to be a "congratulations" hog here :P) but I'm wondering if anyone else has had that issue with the USCIS website and/or the apps not updating after a whole week... Oh well. I guess it is the hard copy that matters. I'm still very happy.

    Won't be long now, everyone!

  9. @ML915

    Thanks! We’re excited.

I received the NAO1 on Sept 5 (and that’s the “date received” on USCIS... but the notice date typed on the NAO1 was Sept 7, so I’ve been using that as the official date. :)

Also apparently I wrote Oslo as the consulate on the I-129F... I guess I did that before realizing that only Stockholm processes K1 apps. I’m hopeful that the NVC will ignore my mistake and send it straight to Stockholm! Anyone on here have experience with that?

  10. Question about documents: My fiancé's police certificate is the equivalent of the uttømmende politiattest, just that it is entirely in English (as he requested). Is it necessary to provide the Norwegian version too? I know the English translation is required, but what about the Norwegian version? I'm thinking not, but I don't know how pedantic to be about it!

I woke up to that and had the exact same reaction! I came on here to see if anyone else had mentioned it, but it was too early. Boooo.

    Happy birthday! :)

So, on the stats page from each embassy rio estimates 38 days between consulate receiving from NVC and the interview, so it's actually better than average that is 47 days 😁

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how can I find the stats page you mentioned? I tried Googling and also looking at the Swedish embassy website (since that's where my fiancé will go through), but I couldn't find anything. :P

lucky you that you both are patient.

We are both struggling right now as we did not expect the wait to be soooo long :(

Thankfully he will come visit me early November, so at least something to look forward to

Haha, well -- to be completely honest, I'm not that patient. But I'm currently working 80-hour weeks and have no time to think about USCIS! If I did, I would be rechecking the application all day. My fiancé on the other hand is genuinely patient.

Hey, mine is also visiting me (in 25 days)! I'm excited. :) Always nice to have something to look forward to.

  14. It's hard to believe it's only been ~3 weeks since the USCIS got our I-129F packet. It feels like another lifetime ago!

Thankfully my fiancé and I are very patient people. :)

My timeline initially estimated NOA2 around the middle-end of January, and now it is estimating the first week of February. I'm sure it will keep getting pushed back, but I'm hopeful that we will have NOA2 before March 2018!
