I was told by the NVC that as long as the application is in the beneficaries embassy in AP it won’t expire. The expiration date only applies if the application is returned to the US. Idk if that’s true though.

anyway, setting a deadline to wait and then marrying is great advice! My fiancé and I set a 2 month deadline (because the co told him he would know within a month) and ended up only bein in AP for like 2-3 weeks and then he was approved.

This is a normal day at CDG, except for the ice storm; lost baggage, broken down baggage carousels, strikes, power cuts, diverted aircraft. Nice to see that some good came out of your experience!

My family wasn’t happy when I became engaged to a Muslim man. They acted very upset, scared, and angry. All of them our coming around now that they see that he is a good man, treats me well, and makes me very happy. My parents even agreed to visit his country, which I never thought would happen. Keep your head up. There is hope that your father will change his mind when he sees you are happy and well taken care of!

I would suggest having your husband's family do the letter in one of the languages that could be notarized (or find a new notary). Then, provide a certified English translation. Do you have life insurance and/or health insurance? You could add him to that maybe.

Thank you, I am using Rapid Visa and on the application I did put that we met through Tinder and have been talking ever since and all the times we have met in person. Rapid Visa is asking for a hand written letter from Tinder. I would think that immigration knows about Tinder

    That makes absolutely no sense.
Because someone is from England, that does not necessarily mean that he or she must have good grammar.

I am from Haiti and I have better grammar than the vast majority of people from English-speaking countries.

    Hi everyone,

We want to give you guys an update on our case.  Brief synopsis:  My husband went on his first interview on 4/03/2016 but was denied and case was returned to USCIS.

We got the NOIR in 1/2017, submitted rebuttal in 2/2017 and case was reaffirmed in 3/2017.  Ghana Embassy received our reaffirmed case in 4/2017.   Hubby 2nd interview was scheduled on Sept 6, 2017.

According to my husband, the consular said we had a lot of evidence.  He just ask him his name, my name, my date of birth and that was it.  My husband said consular said I have already approved your visa, the interview was less than 3 minutes. He gave him the blue paper and told him congratulations and wish you two all the best.

Husband went to DHL 10 days after the interview and his visa was ready.  Since we have been married for over two years, consular gave him the IR1 Visa.

Husband point of entry was in Chicago O’Hara Airport-  he said it took him only 30 minutes to go through immigration.  Immigration officer didn’t ask him any questions,  just went through his packet and said “Welcome to the US”.

This is his second week here in USA. We have been spending well deserve quality time together.  Thank God this process is finally only.  Hubby is still waiting for his social security card, hopefully he will get it in the mail next week.

We live in Atlanta, lot of opportunities for him being a network engineer...he is so ready to start working lol.  He said baby it’s been 3 weeks since I haven’t worked, I need my social security card...I told him you will find work soon, you needed this time off because he worked long hours while in Ghana.

I haven’t gotten married in Morocco, but I have looked into the process in case my k-1 is denied. I will answer some of your questions the best I can, and there are many Moroccan couple on here who will be able to elaborate more.

    1. I don’t think you need this, but I’m not sure. I think your fiancé (since he is the man) will need to show proof of income and ability to support you. I could be wrong though.  Someone else will have to answer this.

    2. This document can be typed up, in Arabic, by your fiancé in Morocco and then you can have it stamped/notarized there. This is simple and shouldnt be a problem, as long as you are either Muslim, Christian, or Jewish.

    3. I think you need an fbi criminal background check, which can take awhile to get, so start on that ASAP!!

When you arrive in Casablanca you will go through customs first, where you will fill out the declaration form and talk to a security officer, who will check your passport with and stamp it with a visa. They usually do speak English, but sometimes not that well. They normally just ask me why I’m coming to morocco and where I work/what kind of job I do. I’m a social worker and they don’t have social work in Morocco so sometimes my job is difficult to explain, especially with the language barrier. Make sure you have the exact address of where you will be staying while in Morocco. They will ask you for it, and won’t let you through without it.

You will collect your luggage after that, and then exit through an airport security bag scanner thing (the last time I was there, they didn’t make me stand in line and go through security, they just let me go outside, but I don’t know if this is common). Your fiancé will NOT be allowed inside the airport. Only ticketed passengers are allowed inside the airport. You will have to take your luggage outside and meet him there.

K-3 is obsolete. It's a relic from back when the CR-1/IR-1 was taking multiple years to process. Just go for the CR-1 visa instead to save yourself time and stress.

If you still decide to do the K-3 instead, expect the I-129F to get administratively closed at NVC (or denied if the I-130 is adjudicated sooner). The I-130 will remain open and continue the CR-1 visa path.

I'm not sure on the process to marry in Morocco itself, sorry. But below is what is required for US immigration:

You will need to provide the most recent tax year's return (transcript preferred), as well as optionally providing the 2 years previous to that if you want. Generally, it's not relevant unless you are self employed or your income relies on things like tips, commissions, etc. However, it is very unlikely they will accept your statement of current income for a wage job with only a tax return. You should provide at least pay stubs, and an employment letter is preferred as well. If you don't have these, they are unlikely to accept your income at the necessary level.

Being female has no bearing on this...you must be able to show that you are able to support your spouse so they will not become a public charge, and 125% of the poverty level is the bare minimum to qualify. If you are under that, then it won't be approved without a joint sponsor. A joint sponsor can be any USC or LPR living in the US who earns enough.

TamaraN reacted to Sukie in ROC. Request for more evidence/ same-sex marriage
Your issue has nothing to do with being a same-sex couple.  Your issue is more that you are a mature couple who have been independent and are now just trying to mingle your separate lives.

You have given us a lot of good information about WHY your financial situation is what it is.  Now, you need to write a letter and both of you sign it, and explain everything you have told us.

    1.  Why you have separate health care.
    2.  Why your driver's licenses have different addresses.
    3.  How you handle every day expenses (and trace to your statements)
    4.  Re-iterate that you have made wills, and that the real estate will go to you if your partner dies.
    5.  Be very deliberate - over explain.  Cross reference your explanatory statements to documents that prove your statements.

You will be fine.  You just don't look like a young just-starting-out couple.

My spouse is not my my deed.  She is also only on ONE car, not both.  But she is on the homeowner's insurance and on both car insurances.  This was not an issue - but I explained it up front.

    Good luck!

All these people giving advice about Jamaica who are not from Jamaica or filing for someone from Jamaica. If your partner tests negative on the drug but admits to previous drug use they will make him go to psych. It is there that the doctor will make the decision and sends it to the embassy where he will either get the visa or not based on the psych doctor.
The foolishness about looking nervous is bullshit pardon my French because ppl are nervous so ofcourse they are going to seem anxious. He would have to be a damn crackhead or heroin addict for the doctors at the medical to say no. Now if his drug test is positive then he receives the 1 year ban and has to wait that year to try again for the visa. I hate when people give advice about something they know nothing at all about or very little information. I know people first hand who couldn't get the visa because the drug test come positive and just waited a year without smoking, took the test again, tested negative and received their visa. My advice is continue to stop smoking and be honest. Lying is way worse than failing the drug test.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. My fiancé was put into administrative processing today and I’m really nervous he’s going to be denied.

from what I understand there is no appeal process for the k-1 visa. If your fiancé was denied, I believe the next step would be traveling to your fiancés country, getting married, and applying for a spousal visa.

You totally missed the point. He is literally maybe a few weeks away from getting the NOA2 to start the process of doing everything in the Philippines to bring his fiance to the USA. So why would he waste that just to fly there to get married and wait another 12 months to bring her to the USA? You act like I am new on the block and don't know anything. How are CR visas quicker or cheaper for him if he has already sent the money for the K1 visa and now he has to wait a few weeks instead of 12 months?

Are you sure he meets 125% of the poverty line in 2016-2017?

According to the RFE, the income amount was not met.

    For two people, I believe it’s 20,025.

You said you sent tax returns and pay stubs. I believe tax transcripts are preferred. You can get them in about 5 minutes on the IRS website.

If he does meet the income requirements I would have him print his tax transcripts showing he meets the income requirements. I would also get a letter from his employer stating that his position is permanent and what his salary is etc. and include that. Also, include any assets he owns if you would like.

Make sure you are calculating the income requirement based on how many people live in your household. If he doesn’t meet the income requirements then yes, use a sponsor again and have them also fill out an support document and provide the required evidence.

I am curious why you guys used a sponsor for the k-1 visa but didn’t use one for AOS? If he didn’t meet the income for the k-1 visa, how does he make it for AOS 90 days later???

Usually, marrying on the first visit causes problems, especially in high fraud countries, because this first visit, where the couple married is the ONLY time they have met and they have usually only known each other a short period of time. You have been married two years and have met your husband in person several times.   I don’t think your situation will be an issue!
