Its official.. I’m now a USC.

Had my combo interview for RoC and N400.

30mins later I was sworn in as a US Citizen.

    Finally done with USCIS 😂😂

Following your progress. Make sure to update your timeline so the numbers on the site are accurate. I filed in June and my office is also Orlando. Hopefully we have smooth cases and can help each other along the way.

As an FYI, my case time frame was updated about a week after I sent it in. It went from an estimate of 15 months to about 11 months over the course of a couple of weeks. Lots of people on here are saying that the time frames they give on the website are not accurate, but are average times. They appear to be catching up on applications after COVID-19 shutdowns, and Orlando looks like it is processing applications pretty quickly. We'll know more on Orlando around September 23rd, as this is around the time they come out with the next processing report, by local office.

Here is the latest processing report, by local office: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/reports/N400_performancedata_fy2021_qtr2.pdf

     Best Regards.

Sorry I reversed your genders on who was US/UK in my replies.

You are so young! You just won’t understand that yet. Give it another year, then spend the five years needed for husband’s UK citizenship. Then you can hop countries at the drop of a hat. You have a lifetime of adventures awaiting, so make it easy on the immigration front is still my perspective

In the absence of a compelling reason not to take up US citizenship, I would just get it and be done with it.

We filed July 2020. PD 7/22/2020. NOA2 1/2/2021. NVC DQ 4/3/2021. (It's all in our timeline).

My personal feeling is this - if you don't take up citizenship, you're probably (based on what has been said by others more knowledgeable than me), going to have to get a B visa. but you won't know until you try. So getting citizenship just seems logical. I don't think the CR1/IR1 timeline will change much over the next 5-10 years unless it's to get even slower. So you're looking at having to plan 12-18 months ahead for a return.

I know people who have done this and subsequently used the VWP, whether you can I do not know.

Possibly.  You would have to re-apply for ESTA to find out, I guess.

When you adjust status successfully, they forgive overstays and the like so your AoS on an ESTA is already resolved.

Since you already have a green card, personally, I would recommend applying for and obtaining US citizenship as soon as you're eligible before coming back to the UK. You'll need to file US taxes every year as a result but if your earnings between you and your other half in the UK come out to less that $200k combined filing jointly, 100k each filing separately, (the exact figures are out there somewhere), you wouldn't owe any federal taxes (which is all you'd be liable for living in the UK) as the US and UK have a double taxation treaty.

My wife and I are in the reverse process right now. We met and married in the US and then I moved back to the UK and she joined me. Now I'm going through a CR1/IR1 application to return (waiting for an interview appointment). Having citizenship will make it vastly easier if you ever decide to move back to the US.

So I had my interview today!
nightmare on the way there I put in the address wrong! The address was 6680 corporate center blvd and I put in 6800 corporate blvd (Orlando) which is a 15 miles difference lol! Super stressful, ended up turning up 5/10 mins late but there was a line anyway to check in so it didn’t matter at all and it wasn’t mentioned! Even though I don’t suggest this to anyone 😂 my stress levels were already high and then they got even higher! Lol
our interview went very smoothly - first the IO went through I-130 with my husband asking him questions from that, then she went through I-485 with me. We gave her all supporting evidence which we had a joint lease, insurance, I’m a beneficiary for my husbands 401k, I’ve got him as my beneficiaries for my benefits, joint tax return plus a few more photos of us with our families - she already had the rest of them I’d sent with my original package.
Then all she really asked us was how we met and why our parents didn’t come to our wedding ceremony. Easy. She then gave us this letter saying how we needed to wait for it to get approved and ROC.
We both mentioned afterwards that my employment card expires on October 22nd with my employer wanting evidence of my status ASAP, and how we have booked to go on a cruise from 21st-25th October and if we are able to get something for that? (We knew about the stamp they can give out but wanted her to mention it). The woman was very kind and explained about the stamp but she didn’t know if they would be able to give it to us, but told us to hang on a bit to see if she can pull some strings. We waited back out into the waiting room and 20 mins later she said she ran our background checks everything looked good and to go grab lunch and come back around 2pm (it was 12.45 by this point). We did exactly that came back, waited another 30 minutes and got the stamp!
I don’t know if it was because of our circumstance, or if she was just being really nice, but now I’m stress free as was worrying about if I was gunna be able to go on this cruise!
Wishing everyone luck for those who are still waiting! Xoxo

i got it the end of october. The thing that worried me was that my HR manager emailed me asking me to send her some updated documents due to the EAD's upcoming expiry. I sent off my forms 3 months before its supposed to expire. I received the new i-797s already and on the paper it says that if I don't get my new EAD in time that that paper can serve as an extension of 180 days, (if it gets accepted that is). However it can't be used as a travel document.
