Is it common to get an interview before receiving the employment card? Because i still have no EAD and now that i know an interview is coming up im shocked and very excited 😊

It is not very common but I have seen a number of cases like yours.  In some cases they don't even bother to send the applicant the EAD card because if wouldn't serve any purpose after your green card interview (providing all goes well with the interview).

    Good luck with the interview.

Did you get an email with the tracking number as soon as it said card was mailed or did you wait a while for the tracking number?

Ok, Things went pretty quick for me/husband

9/17: received update that card was approved

9/18: received update that card was mailed

9/19: received update with tracking number and that it was now with the PO

    Hope this helps!

How exciting! I've received approval, and case status says that card is in production. However no news yet about it being mailed, lol. I know it's so close, yet it feels like it's taking forever. 😅

    Congrats on the approval!

I guess things are really picking up speed for May filers. There are 9 days left in this month. Hopefully next week, we'll see more approvals and more people receiving their cards. :)

Opps. just realized I wrote 14 instead of 15 years ago. I filed for him in July 2013 and he was approved the end of August.  We went for the interview in October, could have been sooner.  Back then, we could just walk in the Embassy for an interview on first serve, first come basis.  So much has changed over the years.

Agree, things have changed ALOT! But with immigration processes, I feel like they are constantly changing..... I guess its the nature of the beast

Congrats on your 14 year marriage!! Wishing you and your husband another 14 years and more.

Good luck with the Naturalization process.

I’m not sure if this is the correct forum, but it’s worth a try. My husband and I would like to adopt his niece and nephew in Jamaica, and bring them to the states. Their home life isn’t the best, and I know we could care for them better if they were here. I am a US citizen, and he is a citizen of Jamaica. Does anyone have any information on how to start this process?

From what I know (suggesting I am no expert but a similar thing happened with my aunt) you and your husband could adopt his niece and nephew but what this mean is they would relinquish all ties with their biological parents.  So the kids couldn't  even file for their parents when they become of age unless you and your husband have passed (died). Adopting then would ne you guys are now their parents and 100% responsible for them. They may even have to change their last name to yours and your hus.

It can become very complicated. You would have to first  do the adoption process in Ja. before even thinking about bringing them over to the US.

Try to get a advice from a good lawyer.

How will the U.S. Embassy make contact with my Fiance in Jamaica about documents she may need to file or return? Will they be providing her with some kind of checklist of things to do?  I'm not sure if she even gets mail delivery or not where she lives in Greater Portmore.

When the file is sent to Jamaica and you know for sure that it's with the US embassy because status will show "Ready" - your fiancé can reach out to the embassy via email (include her case number) to ask for instructions and check list (see attached). If there is anything relevant to her case they will let her know.

My dad Petition for me last year September 2017. I am living in Jamaica 🇯🇲 anyway my question is at the time of birth my dad was not available  when  my mom went to register me it took 12 year after he add is name to my birth paper so are they going to request a DNA test ?? At what point of the process they normally request it?? I was told that because my dad add is name afterwards they are going to request a DNA. I am now 20 years old and my petition as approved and was send to national visa center  for processing. If am going to do the DNA do anyone know the cost???

To answer your second question  - If they decide that they want you to do a DNA test, you would have to complete that before they approve the petition your dad submitted.

A Similar thing happened with me. My dad was added to by birth certificate after 20 years... even though I lived with him all my life.

They had asked me to submit documents to prove that he was in my life and had a relationship with him or I would need to do a DNA test. I was able to do that by submitting school report cards from primary school and high school with his name on it as a parent. Medical forms.. pretty much anything I could find that was related me and had his name on it from prior years.

They accepted it and so I didn't need to do DNA test.

Just wanted to get some opinions as my fiance's interview is quickly approaching.  Everything about this K1 process has gone very smoothly so far. Although we met the one time meeting requirement I know some embassies look for additional in person meetings.  I had all good intentions to visit my fiance somewhere in the middle of our wait however I have a 12 year old daughter who suffers from some mental health issues and was hospitalized for a few weeks. This ended all possibilities of me getting to visit my fiance again. If it wasn't for the love and support that he gives to me I'm not sure I would have been strong enough to make it through that crisis. Do you think a letter to the embassy along with hospital admitting and discharge papers are necessary or helpful or will they not even look at it? Our embassy is in Jamaica.

What's your specific concern? Are you concern that the consular may wonder why you guys have only met once?
