We submitted an inquiry and did eventually receive an email with a report out of the findings. Luckily our case was approved between the inquiry and when they reported out, so the news was that we were approved (at about 6 months wait time, that is). It took around 2-3 weeks to hear back from the inquiry if I'm remembering correctly.
 

Still can't believe you guys are still waiting...Hang in there. It will eventually come. I know that's no consolation at all, but nothing--not even USCIS incompetence--lasts forever. 

After much yelling, calling, emailing, and with absolutely no assistance from our district congressman (that I'm aware of at least), we are finally approved. Unfortunately, it comes too late to keep up from having to change all of our wedding plans, but that's an issue we're willing to work with, just knowing we're done with the process.

Ours was exactly the same. No previous marriages, no children, no criminal record, and South Africa is not generally seen as a security risk. After some of the conversations I had with USCIS officers, I came to the conclusion that they intentionally won't give out information on delays because they don't want to risk anyone being able to use that information in exactly this kind of law suit. In our case, I really do think it was just setting on someone's desk and that was it. I don't think it was a legitimate delay because of security or anything. It's really hard to accept that this is the best we can do as a nation.

I was thinking about you guys when we got ours. It would have been 6 months for us today. I really hope whatever lost pile our case was in was found, and yours was with it! Our tracker still hasn't updated, so keep an eye on the mail. Sending support your way! 

In our case we think we received the email as a response to an old online inquiry we submitted a while back. So it just lined up that way. It did come from USCIS...could have been because of the last phone conversation I had with them as well. A lot of people have been receiving their hard copy long before their tracker updates though, and unfortunately it doesn't look like that's getting fixed any time soon.

Congrats. I am so happy for you. That gives me hope that we will get something in the next few weeks. This waiting has killed my spirit to do anything lately.
