@MsGee That is great news and must be a big relief! I am eagerly awaiting my I-797...Me and my wife are supposed to close a home purchase next Friday, and our lender only just told us now that they need the extension letter. A stressful time for sure. Also, glad to see fellow Filipinos! (I am Filipino-Canadian, and my wife is Filipino-American).

Gingerspike got a reaction from kerwin in tourist visa
I had a similar situation with you. I was a student back then but had family businesses under my name, properties, and cash in bank that proved my ties in the Philippines. But, when the CO asked my purpose of visit and I answered to visit my then-bf (now hubby) in the US, he immediately handed me the blue letter of rejection. It's tough to get a tourist visa, let alone stating your purpose as such because they think a B1/B2 visa is not the right visa for you. There's no harm in trying and burn $320 visa fee for you and your daughter. Just prepare everything you have that will show your strong ties in the Phils and expect the worse.

See my timeline. Took us about 3 months from receiving EAD to getting our interview in Los Angeles. It's case-to-case basis, though. Some take even 2 years to have one scheduled. Some had their interview waived.

You know it's not easy to move to a whole different country and you should've prepared yourself for that before diving yourself to marrying your spouse and flaking out when you realize it's too difficult and adjust here.

I, too, had to go through that for almost a year. I had to endure crying days while my husband is at work everyday. I also told my husband that I wanted to go home and I have nothing to do here. But, as K1 visa holders, we married our loved ones to live with them here, right? It's not only about ourselves, it's about us building our lives together with our spouses. So, if your priority right now is to go home coz you're homesick, depress, etc, by all means, go. You're not ready to be an adult and face "uncharted" territory with your spouse. Heck, I was a princess back in our country and had maids, employees, and drivers to my bidding and when I moved here, it was a nightmare for me. But, I didn't let that empower me. My priorities were I had to assimilate as soon as I can and get my head out in this new world that I'm living in. You don't have special circumstance here. Be a man or go home.

This is not on just my own assumption to go as there are similar situation like mine on past threads. Couples who received their cancellation letter never went to their original interview dates and later on received a denial letter because they abandoned their cases, like the quote below. Other couples went to their original interview dates even with new scheduled date and ended up getting an interview. It was advised that the worst thing that can happen is to be turned away on that day since it is cancelled. The best thing is to get an interview on that day. Good thing they have cancellation letters on hand weeks before as proof, whereas I only have a call saying it is canceled 2 business days before my interview.

I don't know what kind of job you have but if I were in your situation I would just let my boss know that I won't have to take that day off and just come into work. That way it's not as bad if you need to take another day off once your interview is rescheduled. If questions are asked I'd explain the situation and I'm sure he'd understand.

Gingerspike reacted to Greenbaum in DS-3025 has nothing checked in the summary
Most who have gone through the AOS using their DS-3025 don't have a problem. I suspect you won't as those who have had problems with medical know it before they land in the states and take the necessary steps to complete once they arrive.  Stop worrying. You're going to be fine.

Once you're in the states it is VERY VERY rare that you don't pass your AOS and Permanent GC.  As long as you can prove that the two of you are a couple with an eye toward co-mingling your household then there are no worry.  The hardest part of this is getting your visa. Now most of it is submit the paperwork and wait for your approval.

By the way. The OP hasn't been on VJ since December 20, 2016 so I doubt they will answer your questions.

Funny how I've been checking my USCIS app on a daily basis for an update on our case only to be surprised by a mail coming from them saying our interview schedule is on September 12! This is it! 😄

Yeah, the app is not that dependable.

Gingerspike reacted to blooms in Tourist Visa of Senior Citizen Parents from the Philippines
    Hi,
It may help their case if they are well traveled. Maybe they have a schengen visa? Australian or Japan visa?
I have a couple of friends have similar circumstances. Parents have a small business, living modestly, and want to visit daughter (one case to attend the daughter's wedding), both friends' parents got denied recently for B2 visa.
From what I understand, they never traveled overseas before and the CO didn't even bother looking at the papers being presented as proof.

They can always try, nobody can really tell you exactly if they will be granted a visa or not. If they are denied, they can re-apply hopefully this is not the case for you. Good luck

I didn't file for AP. Just EAD and AOS. I know that AP goes with EAD as a combo card, so you might be seeing an update tomorrow or early next week perhaps.
