    Hi!

I know this post was last year but wondering how your vacation went. Did you have any problems with the immigration? I have the same case and planning to visit Phils.

    Hoping for your reply.

    Thank you.

My wife has the same issue. Passport in Maiden name and GC in Married name. I booked tickets in her maiden name as it is on her passport .

Let me know how your trip works out. We plan on changing her passport after we get back vacation

    Hi guys!

I just got back from a 3-week overseas trip, and I entered in JFK. When we were at the border control, I went to the US citizen line with my husband. I showed my combo card to the officer, and he told my husband to pick up the luggage and told me to follow him. So I went to another room with him, and only waited there for like 15 minutes, the only question the senior officer asked me is if I had any food with me... It was a really fast and painless experience.

My interview is in 2 weeks, and on the letter, it says the spouse has to bring a birth certificate, my husband lost his original birth certificate, he only has a copy, can we go to the interview with the copy and a notarized letter explaining how he lost the original birth certificate?

    Thank you!

We just finished our interview . When my wife got her letter it said the same thing. For me to bring my Birth Certificate, a new I-864, and other documents. Our officer did not ask for any of it. Only took our copies of our joint accounts.

    And we were approved .

But I was glad we were prepared just in case.

  3. We had my wife’s interview this AM in Hawaii.

Her appt time was 9:45am. We arrived early and checked in. Went to waiting  room full of people.

The officer called us around 10:05am and then said he would take my wife 1st and come back for me. I sat in waiting room probably for 15 minutes or so when my wife came out and I went back.

Took the oath and he asked me probably 5-8 questions total. At the end he informed me of the conditional green card process and to not let it expire after 2 years. He then smiled and said he did not see a problem with our application congratulated us.

Now the wait to see when the website changes.....

Got the SMS Text/email yesterday that out AOS interview has been scheduled. Now waiting for the letter to find out when. Other's from our field office say it's usually 30 days after so we will see.

It is good and it sucks too because we had a trip to the Philippines scheduled next week.My wife the AOS Recipient was going to stay for 2 months since we have her AP card and I was going to stay for 1month. Now we wait until we get the letter to cancel/re-book the trip.

Reading on the forums about the headaches of re-scheduling , we would much rather have the green card in hand now and take the hit on all the fees for rebooking our trip..

Update. Got the interview letter. May 9...Now to get Everything ready!

  7. Same thing with us. We had a trip booked and planned for next week. Sure enough, I get a text message/email Friday 4/5 saying our interview has been scheduled. My wife had planned on being gone for 2 months.

So now it looks like from our field office, they schedule 30 days after notice sent (4/5) so that would be right in the middle of our vacation.

I've read about the hassles of cancelling and re-schedule the Green card interview, so we have made a determination to put our trip on hold until after our interview and she gets her green card.

Much more important than the trip..we can re-book later and she will have green card in hand. !! I wil ltake the hit on the re-booking  and ticket fees..

I checked the box on my DS260 as well, after 2 weeks I was advised to go into the office because there was a 50 percent chance that I would get the ss card. I went in the ss office and I was told I was not on the system so I applied for the card.

Received the SS card in mail today.. went to the SS office Friday ,because it’s been 2 weeks since we received my wife’s EAD/AP card and no SS card.. after waiting over an hour in office , they looked her up and said it was processed on 2/11 and we should be getting it.Made a trip over to Honolulu for nothing...except my wife got to shop..

timeline... EAD arrived 2/6 SS card arrived 2/23..

Philippine immigration will know what an EAD/AP combo card is.  If you'd like to make sure, call the immigration (departures) office at the airport your wife will be using.

She'll probably have to pay travel tax.  With her AOS still pending, she doesn't qualify yet for exemption for Filipinos who are permanent residents abroad.  Check here if she qualifies for exemption under a different category: http://tieza.gov.ph/travel-tax/travel-tax-exemption/

    Thank you for the info

  10. How is the Philippines and their immigration when it comes to the US EAD/advance parole card,

We filed our I-485 and Ead/AP and just received her EAD/AP combo card.

Will Philippine immigration give her a hard time when she is coming back to USA?( do they understand) will she have to get travel tax again?. I am going with her but I’ll be coming back before her so she will be alone with our daughter(US citizen).
