  1. Have you contacted Whatsapp? They may be able to give you more than the online history. If they can't give you more history, I would definitely follow T bones advice. Record your history....here is how I would record it (give me some grace...it's been years now)

Met Mr Wonderful July 3, 2016 via the website international cupid.

Spoke to Mr Wonderful via Skype and Whatsapp (and his family) for 9 months.

Met Mr Wonderful in person in Germany December 27, 2016. We stayed with friends of his in Germany.

We traveled from Germany to Prague on December 30, 2016 where he met my sister. We stayed in Prague for three days.

I traveled to Algeria on March 16, 2017 and stayed with Mr Wonderful and his family.

I traveled to Algeria on October 18, 2017 and stayed with Mr Wonderful and his family.

    Add pictures and receipts.

It worked for us in a fairly difficult embassy.

I waited all day for the inlaws to show up so I can fix a fil's phone. First time they have been back since March. Ya I'm not over it yet.

I feel this to my bones....

    My father....

So help me.....I  may strangle him.....

He comes I to my office and throws sh77 at me...his phone (and wants me to fix the video of himself that plays as a screen saver or how to get the stream of letters running across the bottom of the screen or the phone). For F's sake....I  was in college in 1996 and two of my classmates did a report on this new thing called "the world wide web" that was going to take over the world and I actually said "that's crazy and will never take on"....I probably wouldn't come to me for technology advice....

Welcome back, are you ready for this next heat wave?

Oh....it's been awful here. I  can't imagine adding 10 degrees to it (the standard difference between here and there) I hope you are doing well. Plus....as a bonus.....I've had COVID the last two weeks.

    I'm ready for fall.....

Greetings all! We are looking for some advice for my fiancé's k-1 interview which is coming up on June 5th. We have been together for almost 3 years and know each other so well. We just met up last week in Dubai to go through all the possible questions and everything we submitted. We also have our lawyer walking him through a practice interview. I guess our concern is what could be perceived as red flags in our case and they kinds of evidence / questions they may ask to over come our red flags. ( I am sure every case has some red flags). As the USC I am 20 years older than my fiancé (he is from Algeria, another red flag country) and I am divorced. We sent about 400 pages total of evidence to USCIS. We have gathered a lot of additional evidence for the embassy (photos of video chats, messages, our recent trip.. my fiancé has also become friends with my brothers and has independent conversations with them ... we have included that evidence as well as video chats with friends and his family. We also started a business together in the US and included all that paperwork) . Does anyone have any experience with the types of questions they may ask given our age difference? Also any recommendations on what additional evidence we should provide to the embassy to demonstrate a true relationship?

Thank you so much for your help!

    Cheers

    Hi Beth..

My fiance and I also went through the K1 visa process through Algeria.  When we went through the process (in 2017) we had met a total of 3 times (we met in Germany and then traveled to Prague together....where he met my sister, and I traveled to Algeria twice....where I spent time with R and his family....the second trip I happened to be there during his interview). I was 45 at the time and he was 38. What we provided during the interview was the affidavit of support, photos from our most recent trip (the one I was there on at the time). The questions that they asked were (and they are listed in my timeline/review) were "how did you meet?, where did you meet? Do you have the same religion"" have you met each other's family" "what do have in common" "what do you love about her") My husband's first language is not English....he wanted the interview done in French but the interview actually took place in classical Arabic. I also watched another interview take place with a young man and they grilled him about his fiance and her children and then dismissed him after he didn't know the answers (about ages and names and schooling of the children).

So, I would start here....if you can attend the interview,  do so....make sure your fiance knows everything about your daily existence, have your fiance take the photos from your last trip with him to the interview.....

We received the NOA2 and the Instruction Packet for interview on March, 2020. I could not schedule the appointment until Dec, 2020, however I have to cancel because I was stuck in the US on B2 visa and my home country (Vietnam) closed it border even to itself citizens. Since Oct, 2021, I have been checking the scheduling site almost every days with no luck.

My fiance has contacted a lawyer in the US and he suggested to make a Mandamus Lawsuit against the State Department for substantial processing delays.

My question: Anybody has been using the mandamus lawsuit to solve the problem? what's the result?

Do you feel that my case has a high possibility to win the lawsuit or at least to have a acceptable settlement? Because I am aware that there is no further action need on their end rather than opening interview appointment slots on the related site.

The lawsuit cost is not cheap at all. Really appreciate your advice.

You wanted to reschedule an interview because you were "stuck" in the US and you want to file a WoM on an interview that did not happen? That is actually impossible.

And let me just tell you....that site that schedules appointments is a nightmare (it's the same site for Vietnam and Algeria). You just have to keep looking.

i would plan a trip for the 2 of u to marry /  it is painstaking long to go thru the process in Algeria but if both of u can meet in Tunisia,  it is about a 3 day process to marry and accepted by USA and immigration / although maybe not accepted in Algeria

It is my understanding that Tunisia has changed their requirements for marriage and they more resemble the requirements for Algeria and Morocco.

  7. Soooo...

We went to my husband's interview and civics test on 11/8/2021. He passed his civics test and interview but the IO asked for proof that we still live together. She wanted a bill with both of our names on it from the time we filed the N400.  I had it in the car. He was inside.  He told her I had them but she said "no...you can upload it". We had to wait on the RFE (it came the following day). We uploaded the "proof" two minutes later and we are now waiting.

  8. Soooo....I've been beating myself up since yesterday....

The Algerian passed his civics/history and English test (Yay!!!!) But....the IO asked for proof that we are married (I didn't upload proof at the time of N400 submission). I (he...we all know I helped) didn't upload any "proof of ongoing relationship" because they didn't ask for anything besides the tax transcripts, marriage certificate,  proof of spouse US citizenship.....everything else could be uploaded under "unsolicited evidence". But I  didn't.....they have 1000 pages of evidence....But the IO asked if he had any current evidence to present that day that we still live together...he didn't have it in the folder I gave him...it was with me in the car (sitting outside the building). She told him he would get a notice and to upload the information. And here we are....

Looked at the case status today and the notice (Request for Information) was there....5 minutes later I uploaded bank statements, utility bills, house insurance bills, and credit card statements. I was going to upload our trip to Maine in September and pay stubs but my sister said they would just get annoyed and to wait....

I'm just angry with myself....I KNEW BETTER! WHAT WAS I THINKING????

Bad absent everyone!  Bad, BAD absent ABSENT everyone!

I'm not absent!!! Just lurking about a bit.....nothing really going on here besides studying for the Civics test.

Other than the studying bit....the only exciting thing that has happened in the last month is....my Aussie was sprayed by a skunk....for the THIRD time. Seriously....THE THIRD TIME...has he lost his senses? He's a sweetheart and I always thought he was fairly smart. But three times? He still stinks.

Different note....the Algerian has his interview tomorrow....hopefully it goes well....

yes i did, has been scheduled for next month, but why Estimated time says 13months now?
    that Doesn't make sense

Because the website is still generating an estimation. My husband's account says the same thing but it also says an interview has been scheduled. Ignore the estimated time it is not specific to you.  It is just an estimate for your local office. Just show up for your scheduled date and time for the interview.

    Hey guys,

i just got scheduled today for my Interview N400, but as soon as i logged in to my USCIS account it says Estimated time* until case decision:

    approx. 13 months

    any idea whats going on?
    Thanks

Did you look at the documents? That's what I did....I randomly checked today and then looked at the "documents" and saw the letter with the date of the interview.

Yes, we did our nikkah over skype:)

Everyone here is guiding you in the right direction. Let me try to explain a bit....

you cannot apply for the k1 visa until you have physically met (you need to provide proof of meeting)

You have not met in person and had a Nikka marriage over Skype (technically you are TOO married to file for a K1 visa because you are religiously married) but you have not been administratively married (that process takes a few weeks, in person, in Morocco)

You are applying for a K1/CR1 visa in Morocco...a MENA country....the visas are notoriously difficult to get....you have to have mountains of proof..(airline tickets, passport stamps, receipts, descriptions, pictures together and with family).

You were initially married over Skype...expect that to be incredibly difficult to overcome (there will be extensive questions about marrying someone you had not met....the inference will be to gain immigration benefits).

@carmel34 is absolutely correct. There needs to be many visits and Co mingling of finances. And you are correct...it may take a year (or more).
