hey everyone!
So I finally got my conditions removed (yay!) but they didn't include my second last name in the card #mexicanproblems
the original conditional card has both last names, the application was done with both last names as well.
My Mexican passport shows both last names, too.
should I contact USCIS and correct it? or just wait a year to start the naturalization process and change the last name then?
I'm planning on taking my fiance's last name when we get married in November so I will be changing them anyway in a year.
I only worry that it could be a problem for traveling abroad, but I plan to travel with both the expired card and new card.
what would you recommend?

Congratulations! You must be ecstatic. I would love to ask you a few questions about your divorce waiver, would you mind if I DM'd you?
sure thing! DM away

This was implemented a week after my interview, ha.
BUT as I'm divorced, I assumed my interview was going to happen either way.I truly hope this means cases start to move a bit more efficiently.

Hey guys!
I figured it would be cool to share some of the books and podcasts (or other resources) that are helping you in your journey, either with emotional growth, to be able to wait it out, to ground yourself through the stress, etc.
these are some of mine:
books
*the body keeps the score -Bessel Van Der Kolk
* adult children of emotionally immature parents- Lindsay C Gibson* running on empty - Jonice Webb
* burnout -Emily Nagoski
* Atlas of the heart by Brené Brown
(Daring greatly was very good too)
podcasts
* I weigh - Jamel's Jamil
* where should we begin ? -Esther Perel
* unlocking us -Brené Brown
* dare to lead - Brené Brown
what are some of your favorites?

Ah yes, aquatic coffins
there's a woman on a sell group here in Texas, asking 10k for a used one. The comments were priceless.

That HE filed for divorce and quickly married someone else is quite strong evidence in your favor. Documentation of the current, ongoing communication and photos with his family would be a nice touch, frosting on the cake, so to speak.
Thank you!
My interviewer was a bit suspicious at first about the time we spent apart while married (2017-2018) but once I explained the timeline and showed the supporting documents he realized I left the country instead of overstaying my tourist visa. (Well, I accidentally overstayed by 2-4 days, which snowballed into me not being able to travel to see him. But pretty obvious I didn't stay to adjust from the inside)
He chuckled and told me that is so rare, but also to him proved that I wasn't doing this for immigration purposes, and that's when he removed my conditions, I was so relieved!
he did seem happy I had the affidavit and added them to my file. encouraged me to go for citizenship as soon as I qualify. Overall it was honestly a pretty great experience, Even though I knew I wasn't doing something fraudulent it's still a scary process! -

I just came out of my interview, conditions removed, baby!
That was a fantastic interview all and all, honestly. couldn't be more impressed with USCIS San Antonio

I'm really sorry to read all this cruel situation, considering the amount of trust and dependency we give to our husbands when we come to this country.
All the evidence point to a solid case, Good luck everything would be fine!
ANIMOS!!
thank you! I'm still scared because it's an emotional process overall, I want to make sure I have everything I need.
it's not even heartbreak anymore, just being exhausted and frustrated mostly. but ready to have this part over.

I am also waiting for any updates. I have a divorce waiver case. I have not had any updates whatsoever since the status saying that my fingerprints were applied. No updates since August of 2020... I am not confident that my case will take any less than 2 years.
that sucks, I'm so sorry!
hopefully the interview (or a waiver) is around the corner. this is so very draining

It happens to born US citizens too. There are good reasons sometimes as well, e.g. declaring something false when entering. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it happens to naturalized citizens more, especially those that were born in certain countries.
I was being mostly facetious 😛
but I get that.

I want to thank you guys for reminding me of the certified copy!
I was able to pick it up form the district clerk's office after a round of confusing phone calls. they added a shiny star along with the signature, which makes me feel very official and accomplished.(no sensitive data shows in my picture, but let me know if I'm not allowed to share this to remove it)

Since it’s easy to print anything (and thus forge anything) with a modern personal computer it seems reasonable to require verified or original documents with seals.
Yeah, I do get that. Texas divorce documents look pretty common white paper, too.
I should've double checked before, I'm surprised it is not stated in their official interview letter and information on the website -
Hey everyone!
I'm glad (but sad) that I am not the only one left from July 2020.
anyone still waiting for their interviews? Mine was assigned at the end of February for March 31st.I guess I was hoping that my interview would be waived, but I'm doing it with a divorce decree so even front loading the application I knew it was a very slim chance!

My wife got a 24 month extension letter today, too. It's printed really poorly (looks blurry). When I saw the envelope, I was hoping it was an interview date but no such luck.
I thought I was the only one! mine looks like it was printed by a bored, drunk Office Depot teenager

They can make you walk to the "VIP room" even if you become US citizen, for no reason apparent.
See that's insane. I guess to them you become a US citizen with a "*" next to it, or maybe a bob SquarePants sticker.

Yes. Filing for a divorce waiver RoC today. Tomorrow you might be a petitioner (I-130, N-400). In either case you need original evidence of divorce.
Yes my lawyer emailed me a divorce decree too. Perfectly acceptable for an I-129F but I knew it would be useless for a consular and USCIS interview.
We are on the cusp of going to a completely digital, electronically verifiable document system but we aren’t there yet.
Just as State and/or USCIS required your original or certified birth and marriage certificates when you immigrated, the government needs your original or certified divorce decree. Or the original or certified death certificate of the former spouse.
this is bonkers to me. the clerk was such a nightmare but I am pressing to make sure I get it in time!

Yes you need an original at the interview. You will need an original if you ever petition an alien spouse for an immigration benefit too.
I am the beneficiary,
but I am truly surprised I hadn't read this anywhere before! the official interview document just says bring the final divorce decree which I do have, no mention of it needing to be certified. the clerk takes 10-14 days and my interview is on the 31st so I'll be cutting it close, I feel so dumb now
-
Wait, I need an original? ex only sent me a scan through e-mail, no one had mentioned this to me!
running to the district clerk get a certified copy!

Hopefully the interview goes well.
After that, you will focus on getting a good hombre and not a bad hombre.
Haha, thankfully I did find a good hombre after all! Having his support throughout this has been amazing. We joke about starting the immigration process all over again, but I truly don't want to have to deal with USCIS for a very long time 😛

Lol. Very funny indeed but I'm sure it was nerve-wracking when you were there!
Oh, I was dying inside! I thought that once I became a LPR the tourist visa ordeal shouldn't be a "let's walk to the back" issue. But things do stay on record forever and to be very careful!

ah darn!
we have a trip planned for the end of the month but it now falls under 30 days.
I did file the form 1-90 a couple of days ago, but I haven't called to request a I-551 stamp yet.
we would be driving and not flying, I figured worse comes to worse we talk to CBP and ask before we drive through and if we can't, we would just enjoy the border/ valley area
and drive ay back to Austin the next day. I do have my previous CR1 card as well as my original documents and extensions, and I am currently still under my second 24 month extension, which doesn't expire until August. do you think I really wouldn't be able to re-enter? Because if that's the case, I'll definitely cancel and postpone the trip!
