Yes, it means that they are taking your fingerprints from your old case and applying it to this case...so no need of a biometrics appointment this time. I'm hoping to getthis message, too!!

I didn't know this before, and I haven't heard anyone else on these boards talk about it, but I heard on some youtube video that if your bank gives you access to your processed checks images, USCIS will print that receipt number on the back of your processed check. I wasn't able to verify that on my online account...but I'm sure if you go to your bank or if your bank provides it online...you can get an image of the back of the check and maybe find the receipt number. There are other ways to get like calling them and whatnot, but I never thought about the check thing.

I sent my form in in Mid-May. The check cashing and e-notification was swift...it's getting the NOA that drags on a bit. It took over 10 weeks to get mine, and everyone in my group was getting stressed. But in July, USCIS seemed to get it together and started cranking out letters. You all might also be getting notices regarding biometrics...as USCIS is trying to move things along and may apply your old biometrics to the present case. But they keep the $85.

    Good Luck!

JGUnion got a reaction from millefleur in Name split [ Fix surname on Indian passport and FNU on green card ]
My wife had a similar problem. Her Indian Birth Certificate had first name and family name together with no surname (I guess this is common in India).  Her Indian passport was printed the same way. US immigration apparently doesn't like a blank surname on a visa, so made it... First Name :FNU,  Surname: First Last

Since she came in on a marriage visa, it was easy to fix, since our marriage document allowed us to change everything...and order a green card.

If it is a mistake on USCIS's part, you may get them to correct it.

If it is this way because of your birth certificate, you may have to file with your local court for a name change (permanent residents can get a name change in US if it is a legitimate reason) and then take that document and apply for an I-90...reissuance of a GC. And then have your other documents corrected.

It really depends on your birth certificate.

Finally, Glory to God. My NOA arrived in the mail. Filed 05/05/20. Recieved 05/08/20.
After 3 request sent via email and receiving a date to expect my NOA on or before 07/05/20. Well it came in today. 06/25/20. Extended for 18 months. Thats till March 2022 from. The date current GC expires. Now hoping they won't require me going in for the biometrics. Keep y'all updated. Good luck guys. *phase1completed* *ontothenext1*

Zipped off my packet yesterday...FedEx overnighted it and it is now presently on the delivery truck in Arizona...soon to be delivered by the time y'all read this.  I attached the eNotification form, but not holding my breath...as in past filings, it's been spotty.

Good to know that I can call later for a receipt #. This site has saved me lots of money and stress.

I felt I was a little slim on my utility-type bills too, but hopefully showing that I have a mortgage with both of our names holds much more weight....

As for a marriage certificate, it's not at all required as it doesn't show the marriage is on-going, only that it happened, which they already know. The only reason at all I sent mine in at all, was because my brother signed as a witness and I hoped to show that family attended and were aware of the event, etc.

    EDIT:

I could share a bit of an update on my status too. Filed May 11. Delivered with receipt on May 12 to Lewisville UPS location. Check not yet cashed, and of course like everyone else, no NOA yet, but also not expected yet.

No - if she's changing name then apply in that name. You do have a choice of course.. she can change it at a later time if that suits you better but if she wants the name change now and to have her documentation with the new name - the correct way is to do it as mentioned, put the new name and provide marriage certificate  (which you need to provide anyways).

The same thing happened to me, where I tried to change the name on my SS card to my married name after having applied for AOS but before receiving either EAD or GC and they could not do it, saying that I had no official status they could put in the system.
I used my married name on all AOS documents, and I am scheduled for a GC interview in September. I believe you should use the married name if your wife wants to change her name.
As for the OP, if you look at the requirements for each form, you can see that they require the marriage certificate and that is the official name change document. If the name change is due to the marriage, there is no other document or affidavit needed.

This doesn't mean anything, except it acts as a reminder that you need to file the name change at the SS office. As already been repeated, the Marriage Certificate is proof enough for a legal name change.  Utah isn't special in this regard.  Cheers!

Good news is that CEAC shows ready after a couple months of being on AP.  Fiancee got a letter saying passport being delivered, and ustraveldoc confirms that something is being sent. Don't know what it is since she has her passport, so we are assuming it's instructions to send in her passport (we hope) or something in the positive range. Guess we'll see tomorrow, as it has arrived.
Hope all the Octobers have their cases resolved by now.

Not quite approved the visa...fiancée called and said they wanted a little more info to verify everything. She is printing everything out to return to the Embassy directly and they said they would approve it. Ahhhh!!!!!!!

Congratulations to everyone that has made it!!! my best wishes those who are still in the process.
Fiancee had her interview...it ended up lasting a couple hours I felt so bad I wasn't there. She ended up getting a good cop/ bad cop scenario, but it seemed like they were satisfied except for a couple of details that they gave her in writing. The lead officer said that the requested documents will be coming to his hand. So along with her passport, my fiancée turned in the requested evidence. ustraveldocs site says, "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery." I understand this isn't anything to be excited about, so we will be patient!

JGUnion got a reaction from futuremom in confusion on Letter of Intent by Beneficiary
It depends on what stage you are at.

If this is the Letter of Intent required for the original petition I-129F, then it needs to be addressed to the USCIS where you intend to mail the petition.

If you have already submitted the I-129F and are speaking about an updated Letter of Intent needed for an embassy interview, then it should be addressed to the Embassy/Consulate wherever the Visa interview will be located.

I recommend looking at the guides on this site for K-1.

For K2s the process is similar to the main beneficiary (K1), including all procedures and fees. Therefore, your fiancee's son must have a medical exam ($240) and must apply for K2 visa through filling in the DS-160 form (K visa fee is $265). He must schedule an interview and show up for it. The interview can be done at the same time with his mom, but he still needs to book his own interview and bring a confirmation to the Embassy. Have him registered at ustraveldocs.com for that. He will also need to bring for the interview the same set of required documents, including affidavit of support I-134.
I am a beneficiary and have a daughter, K2 applicant, who is the same age as your fiancee's son. Speaking from my own experience.

My fiance landed in Chicago last night at 9pm,she said the border patrol/customs people were very nice to her. We spent the night in Chicago and we are back home today. She got to see snow for the first time on the way home but she is not at all fond of the cold weather

Well you can't rush him in and out from you send in his papers at least 90 days will pass before he gets the AP which he will have to have to get back in to the country and he will also have to be present if you guys get an interview. And he will have to seek permission to be out of the country for a longer time while he studies.

Well, folks, the day has finally arrived! After over 24 hours in transit from Thailand, my fiancee's plane touched down just a few short hours ago. What a journey it's been so far and we haven't even started the AOS paperwork yet!

To everyone who is still waiting on NOA2, NVC, your interview, medical exam, administrative processing, etc: there IS light at the end of the tunnel. We were incredibly fortunate to have everything move fast and I want to encourage you to "keep the faith" and remember that love conquers all. Cheesy? Sure. Probably because I'm over the moon to be reunited with my love.

Good luck to everyone and thank you a thousand times over for your encouragement, advice, and camaraderie throughout this process. Onward to AOS!

Our case was approved...after close to a three month wait. Didn't get an a NOA2 email though.... I just called them the day before to see if there was any new info, but of course they had to stick by what had only been officially posted. So I was pleasantly surprised to see it had been approved when I checked on it today. Coincidently, my fiancé had just bought our rings yesterday.
