Just hangup with uscis customer service, I asked for the last update on my i-751 and she told me that my case is outside of normal processing time, however I asked her if that’s accurate since the website shows about 33 months and she said yes it is out of the normal processing time, then she told me to wait another month and if I didn’t get any response I should call and file an inquiry. The thing is I have already filed 2 expedite request but they came back with denial 🤷🏻‍♂️ so idk what should I do? I already filed for my naturalization application last September

If website is not showing case is outside normal processing nothing much can be done. When your case is outside the processing time contact your Senator or Congressman. My wife situation I made an inquiry with USCIS and at the same time reached out to my Senator. The response to my inquiry just gave me the same response as previously received that is wife has a combo interview for I-751 and N-400 and interview was to be scheduled when it is time. The response from the Senator however was much better; they respectively requested to be contacted in 30 days if an interview is not scheduled and for the first time in over 3 years the status date updated and within 2 weeks the interview was scheduled so I am sure Senator inquiry made a difference. Note the Senator will only inquire if the case is outside processing time. Good luck.

  2. Finally my wife is a Citizen was a long wait. We had a combo interview I-751 and N-400. We brought our 2 kids ages 4 years and 2 years. I recommend bringing kids if they are well behaved as I think this made our interview so easier. We had tons of evidence but officer did not ask for any . Officer at San Francisco field office was super nice and he shared that he had two kids too was friendly indeed. He verified that all basic info was accurate in I-751 and we added our second child who was born after we submitted. He then approved the I-751. He then started with N-400 where he skipped all review already included in I-751. We mentioned about 2 more trips we had after our application which he confirmed in his system. He started with civic test then reading and finally writing. All simple and my wife passed. I recommend getting the test prep handbook from USCIS. This is given to every N-400 applicant during biometrics. We did not receive it since our I-751 biometric was reused so I drove there and requested for one and i used it to prep my wife. Officer

then took my son birth certificate and went to make a copy. He asked if we were interested for same day oath ceremony and we said yes and next one was 1pm. By the way they have multiple same day oath ceremony so if your appointment is in the morning you will most likely get scheduled. Our appointment was at 7:35am and we were allowed in by 7am.  You can find plenty of street parking if you arrive by 7am. Cost is $3.75 and hour. Get the App and it will allow you to extend time. Maximum allowed parking is 4 hours. We were out by 9am. Took 30 min waiting for our oath ceremony appointment. Came for oath ceremony at 12:30pm at 1pm oath began and was done at 1:20pm. Only my wife was allowed so me and kids waited in the car.

  3. So we decided to take the kids and in fact officer appreciated this and he saod folks bring kids all the time and I did see many people who brought their children. My advise is bring your kids if they are well behaved and don't distrust the process. I understand not many can bring kids so not for everyone. I can tell you officer asked general questions and skipped over many unnecessary questions. It was very relaxed interview and he even share a lot about his kids kids; kids bring joy to any environment and bring the best sides of the officers. My wife passed her I-751 and then then her N-400. My wife was scheduled for 1pm same day oath ceremony and now she is a citizen.

  4. So based on a lawyer input and some folks who had no issue bringing kids. That said you made a valid point and I came across USCIS visitor policy and it allows immediate family members listed as dependents in the application to accompany parents during the appointment. I have pasted below for the benefit of everyone. We decided to bring our kids because it is not possible logistically to leave them behind and we feel bringing them to the appointment will help our case not that it will be needed. I will let everyone how it goes.

    USCIS Visitor Policy

    https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-visitor-policy

We must limit the number of people in our waiting rooms. Only the following people may accompany you at your appointment:

    • An attorney;
    • An interpreter (if permitted under specific guidance about interpreters for affirmative asylum interviews);
    • A parent, legal guardian, or a trusted adult, if the applicant being interviewed is a minor;
    • Immediate family members listed as dependents on the application or interview notice; or
    • An individual assisting a disabled person
  5. I submitted a service request as soon as it was outside normal processing on June 29, 2022 which was a day later. USCIS responded on Aug 18 with a response that both I-751 and N-400 was pending and will be adjudicated at the same time. This response was generic as I was already informed previously.

I also contacted my Senator and they contacted USCIS on my behalf. (Please note my Senator process is they will only Inquire if process is outside processing time). My Senator office sent inquiry on July 18 and USCIS responded on August 22nd and was similar response as I received but with more details. They requested to be respectively contacted within 60 days if an interview is not scheduled. My status online date was updated from Sept 2019 to Aug 22, 2022. In Sept 13th USCIS status was updated saying an interview was scheduled. So 22 days from their response to the Senator and 35 days from first inquiry. I suggest you reach out to.your Senator as you get better response. You can still send your inquiry.

    019.  You also filed a Form N-40

  6. USCIS notice for interview scheduled was on September 13, 2022 which is for combo I-751 and N-400. Based on my reading is that the interview notice is mailed min 5 days. I was curious to get the date sooner and even was tempted to call customer service. Today I logged in my account for the second time (my N-400 was online). I noticed a link with title interview is scheduled and when I opened I found tye interview letter scheduled for October 18th 😃 exactly 5 weeks from when the notice has has interview scheduled.

    Thanks, good to know.

Mine expires December 18th but I'm on a cruise from 16th-19th and then 19th-24th.

When my wife made request she received an appointment within 3 weeks. I suggest you make the request by October just to have the stamp.  Mention you plan to travel in December. The stamp is valid for 1 year.

I'm trying to contact uscis over the phone but Its not transferring my call to the agent. Generally if you say "technical support" it transfer you call to the agent but its not working this time. Does anyone know how to get through the recording? I'm at MSC service center. Case status is 'ready to schedule interview' since November 2021.

Yeah it is very frustrating to get through the call center and when I insisted for customer service the system hanged up the call. I suggest you mentione in automated system that you need a stamp for travel and when you get through ask your question.

So USCIS is not interested in MSC filers at all.

I hope everyone ends their journey with USCIS asap. especially those ones whom are waiting since eternity.

Until case is past processing there is nothing that can be done. Our I-751 was filed in May 2019 and we been waiting for Interview since Sept 2019. We filed N-400 in May 2020. We inquired our case and USCIS responded that we will have a combo interview. Our Senator said that they will only inquire if our case is past processing. In June 29th 2022 our case was past processing (USCIS extended normal processing twice from the 3 year from receipt date). I inquired with USCIS and my Senator in June 29th. My Senator responded on July 15th asking I submit two separate request for N400 and I-751 (I had combined them in the inquiry I sent previously). In July 19th Senator sent inquiry to USCIS on my behalf.

Around Mid August 2022, I received a response from USCIS about my inquiry which was basically the same response I received two different times that is I will have a combo interview.

In August 22, 2022, my Senator shared USCIS response which mentioned that I will have a combo interview and I am in line for an interview. They requested respectfully to be contacted within 60 days if my interview is not scheduled by then. This looked promising and very nice response to my Senator vs the response I received. For the first time I had an update in my case when I viewed the status: I-751 status was that my case was being worked on actively and date updated was from Sept 2019 to Aug 22, 2022.

In September 13th 2022 my status now is that an interview has been scheduled and they will mail the interview notice. Now we can't wait for the mail to be sent.

I think patience is key and just continue living your life eventually you will get your interview scheduled. The issue with pandemic and politics is hopefully behind and process becomes better. USCIS is moving to risk based approach for I-751 and hopefully this will free up immigration staff time and clear the backlog.

  10. I checked my status today and combo interview for N400 and I-751 has been scheduled. I will wait for the mail to get the interview date.

Just brief info to share: I contacted the Senator on May 29th after both N400 and I-751 were past processing time and  I filed I-751 and N-400 in May 2019 and May 2020 respectively. My previous two inquiry response from USCIS was that I have a combo Interview that was all. The Senator sent inquiry on July 18th and USCIS responded on  August 22nd which is much better than my inquiry so I suggest always reach out to your Senator if your case is past processing time. The response from that Senator shared us as follows, ""Your constituent's petition to remove conditions on residence is in queue to be interviewed simultaneously at the time of her naturalization interview and will be scheduled for an eligibility interview when an interview slot becomes available. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will contact your constituent directly when an interview is scheduled or if additional information is requested prior to the interview. Case status may be monitored online at https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do.

We respectfully request you allow at least 60 days from the date of this email before following up on the status of the case."

USCIS responded to Senator response in 35 days and Status changed to case actively reviewed and new date of Aug 22 2022 from September 2019 where I was waiting to be scheduled for interview. USCIS respectively requested 60 days follow up and funny how I never received this courtesy. 20 days later today I received update for interview scheduled.

Good luck to everyone and my advise is contact your Senator when your case is past processing time and you will most likely get good response.

my r constituent's petition to remove conditions on residence is in queue to be interviewed simultaneously at the time of her naturalization interview and will be scheduled for an eligibility interview when an interview slot becomes available. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will contact your constituent directly when an interview is scheduled or if additional information is requested prior to the interview. Case status may be p on the status of the case.

It is really frustrating.. We went to a lawyer recently to ask what can be done to get the USCIS to work on our case.. and his advise is to wait... he said the USCIS gets hundreds of legal letter a day, and he don't think it will change much..
I also submitted a few inquiries to USCIS since April 2022, no response as well..
Not sure what else can we do.. I have not been home since Covid happened and I miss my family and friends.. I'm planning to go back next year.. fingers crossed I will get my GC by then.. but i doubt it...

    Good luck to you..

Thanks for the information. I guess we have nothing else to do but wait. Good luck to you too.

    Hi there,

It's been awhile... anyone has any updates on their I-751 filed in Nov 2019, case number start with LIN ??? At first we filed at Nebraska (2019), then they transferred to NBC (2020), then I called them last month saying that it was back to Nebraska, called again a week after now it's back to NBC.. Is this a game? I really dont know.......
Nothing from my end as well... Just got another ADIT I-551 Stamp on my passport again last week for another 1 year extension...
I just want my GC... and move forward.... from this craziness... this is so frustrating... :(

We are still waiting and has been 38 months since we filed i-751 and been waiting for interview schedule since September 2019. Our case was outside processing on June 28 and we filed an inquiry with USCIS and Senator on June 29. It is very frustrating and we are thinking of hiring a lawyer to sue USCIS if we don't here anything by August 2022.

My submission for my husband’s ROC was in October 2019 and I’m still waiting for an interview. We called last year when it was considered beyond normal processing times (before they extended it to 3 years) only to get a follow up more than 6 months later telling us there’s nothing to be done and that it’s now considered within normal processing times.

To think that this is where all of our tax dollars might be going…

I know all waste of our time. They cannot even prioritize and follow the new risk based approach where interviews can be waived. It is frustrating.

And you still are waiting for an interview? Crazy! Why is that even allowed. What would you do if you are traveling outside the country?

After 18 months extension letter expired we called USCIS and received an appointment at the field location and had the passport stamped with one year extension. So with expired green card and stamp on passport travel was allowed. I believe this stamp is the evidence the airline needs.

MSC is awol on everyone....may need to send a search party or something to check on them.  Like many Filed April 2021, Ready for interview on Dec 2021. Nothing since......ahh that joys of the USCIS.

My wife was ready for Interview since September 11, 2019. So frustrating and yesterday was the first day past normal processing. We filed in May 24, 2019 so normal processing for us is 3 years 1 month which is absurd to call it normal.

My case is in LA office. So, they are pushing forward, yes. My attorney said, they are not pushing forward or BACK anyone case specifically. It depends on how busy they are.

Also, I asked my attorney to file a claim, contact with senator, file the FOIA. She said, we have to follow the web first "uscis case status" . It shows when we are able to file a claim. If we file early, they do not pay any attention.

Let say we are eligible to file a claim, and filed but USCIS wouldn't give us any  satisfactory answer. File second claim. After second claim, If you still don't have anything, then contact with senator with the your claim and answer papers.

She also said, FOIA is the request the to see what notes the USCIS representative got during the interview. He/she asked you questions and you answered, then the rep. has been gotten some notes. You will see that notes and if the answers and notes makes your status harder, you can get more action, you can prepare yourself, you can sue....

I sent my inquiry to USCIS as today is 1 day past normal processing time. I also forwarded to the senater as well. I filed FOIA 2 months ago and did receive it last month. I see the notes from immigration on N-400 mentioning that the case is pending I-751 and will be a combo Interview. I see online that many folks who filed in 2020 and few in 2021 already got their I-751 completed so idea why it is causing more delays.

    Any updates for you?

  17. 1 hour ago, ramwho said:

I feel the same. My case is not complicated, I sent plenty of evidence. Yet they are taking forever. I did reach out to my representative when my N-400 became outside regular processing time. The reply from the Dallas office congressional liaison was to wait 90 business days. That puts me at sometime in Aug when I can inquire through my representative again. This is effing ridiculous.

I agree with you and no much help from representatives. I filed FOIA and will seenif this helps. I contacted my senator as well. I have no idea why USCIS is not addressing the requests by priority date and I see others getting approvals for complicated fillings even earlier.

  18. 2 hours ago, babayega said:

I have same problem. My I-751 has been received by USCIS 06.19.2019 and N-400 on 10.03.2020. I have been on interview 04.01.2021.

I-751 is still pending. I got an attorney and my attorney said the earliest day for a claim on 07.23.2022. This date is for opening a claim...!

Hoe she got this date? She went thro "USCIS processing time" webpage and on the middle of the page, there is a question asking "when is your receipt date"

Just put your I-751 date and see how is yours

Issue is they keep forwarding the date. Mine started with May 21 which is exactly 3 years after filling then they pushed to June 4th and when it was getting closer it was moved to June 24th. This is why it is frustrating and adding to the fact that 80% of I-751 are completed in 31 months. Can you share your field location?
