Has been explained well multiple times already, but I just confirm again, I also had an old SSN from an F1 student visa from 2000 because I worked on campus. After my immigration in 2016 on EB1A I soon went to the closest social security office in town, I think I was even able to book an appointment at the time. Wait wasn't that long and everyone was friendly and my status got updated. I didn't have my original card anymore so they mailed me a new one and also the I-551 Stamp was sufficient for identification.

    Good luck! 😊

The USCIS field office sent me a form N-662 signed by the court, eight days after the ceremony via UPS. They did not inform me in any way before and the driver just left the envelop in front of my door so keep and eye on that since I don't think it is the safest to do. I checked the tracking number myself then and they mailed it the day before and that is also the day my case status was changed to "certificate of naturalization was issued".

I will now go to the SSA office, DMV and Police (CCW) to change my name, they all require it in person.

If you are still waiting on an interview in Las Vegas then that is certainly long. I also filed in November but got my first interview date late January. However it first was scheduled for early March and then got pushed back for 6 weeks but then all went smooth. Never asked why they re-scheduled.

    Good luck.

I join the HAPPY group of officially a U.S. CITIZEN now! 🥳

6,5 years from immigrating (EB1A) in November 2016 till my oath yesterday. I would say I could also have done it sharp around the 5 year mark but I had to wait on the German government longer to approve me dual citizenship on their end. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have moved forward with this since loosing my European access wasn't an option no matter how much I also wanted to become a U.S. Citizen.

Now I don't want to use the word "disappointing" since this is so much BIGGER then anything in detail. But something I was always looking very forward to was the actual oath ceremony and best scenario would have been here in Las Vegas in the main city hall and inviting lots of friends to experience this special American moment, flags, colors, proud faces everywhere, national anthem, get some pictures while taking the oath and all that glorious good stuff! But it ended up being in the field office, NO 😞 guests allowed! We all walked in, they collected the invitation and asked some questions from that again, had to hand in our green cards and were assigned to a seat, handed the naturalization certificates at our seat, chance to ask a few group questions, mine was how long it takes to receive the court order for a name change since without that I cant do anything post naturalization here like adjusting status with the social security office, name change drivers at the DMV etc.... and then the judge came up on a big video screen, a few words, asked everyone to raise their hands and she READ of the the oath of allegiance herself and everyone just needed to confirm with "Yes I will". Congratulations and then it was over soon after and everyone left. 🤷‍♂️😞🥰

PASSED my naturalization interview today in Las Vegas without any issues! 🥳

Officer was very polite and friendly. I was also worried for the fact that my interview was originally scheduled for early March but got canceled 2 weeks before, because of "unforeseeable circumstances" and then re-scheduled a good week later. Also the interview time for today got changed once again 2 weeks later after the second interview notice. There are people here in this forum and also based in LV where I can see they applied after me and were already done with the oath ceremony before my interview. So that made me wonder if anything is up with my case, also because my Greencard was employment based. However nothing during the interview indicated any problem, neither was I asked for anything work specific, tax transcripts etc.

I just passed a fairly straight forward interview and that's it. 😎

    I am sorry but huh?

Hope you don't take it offensive, but I know plenty of "skilled workers" that take 15 years an more to finally get a GC and you get one right away by working at a fast food chain?

Could it be that it is nonsense what those agencies are telling you and they just trying to get some non-refundable deposit from you? There are millions of citizens and permanent residence to take such jobs here.

Go ahead and proof me that I am wrong but to me that sounds VERY strange.

The consulate will have the actual case you have sent to USCIS, so NO you don't have to bring another copy.

The envelope(s) has all the documents in it from the beginning of the application. I can confirms so, because I had 6 of those, super thick  for my EB category and could see parts of my evidence through the corner cut outs, WITHOUT opening anything of course.😉

Lets say it this way, yes it was disastrous of the brother to open the mail, but probably he was just excited and didn't know better.

Its not the end of the world however, you might end up loosing some money, your flights and some nerves.

Get it re-sealed, whatever it takes and then good luck with your new life.

Can only give you general feedback on this one, but the interview is basically the governments real  LAST chance to discover any type of fraud or serious clashes in the application. The CO officer is not supposed to adjudicate your case anymore, since that has been done by USCIS. But they have the authority to stop the process right there, if they think that a serious mistake has been made and will send it back to USCIS.

HOWEVER don't want to scare you, because that is not what this is all about if everything is fine and you have all you documents and information regarding the application with you. Make sure you know your case well and be ready for all sorts of questions that anybody could possibly ask you about this upcoming position. They want to see if you are really YOU!

If you want practice it with somebody in a dialogue, go ahead, it helps. I made a question and answer list for myself some days ahead and read my petition letter over and over again.

Give simple answers, don't start to argue, just present yourself confident and all should be ok.

    Good luck!

EVERY manila Immigrant envelope has this corner cut. Mine was even much larger then yours. It is fine! Only the additional evidence envelopes in my case had no cut but you don't have that. You have only the main one.

The person at the consulate that she has spoken to was probably stressed out and understood something like the envelope has been opened and the seal being broken.

First of all that is the minimum investment for EB-5 category. There is also the E-2, which requires way less investment:

Since you are from Italy you can enter under the ESTA program up to 90 days max. But you are NOT allowed to work and be compensated in ANY form. However you can use the time in LA to make new contacts and show people your skills, sort of as an audition like an actor would do. That is totally fine & legal. If you are lucky you meet somebody who might need your services when that person is coming to Italy and that could help you building your resume towards an O1 visa, because that is usually the one that any type of artist is going for.

But it needs job offers in the US and a certain reputation and level. You DONT have to be famous, that is always a false assumption. But certainly a certain standing in your profession. The less known you are however, the stronger the sponsors and jobs have to be.

    Good luck!

You should also speak to a bunch of immigration lawyers on this... most of them give free first consultations on evaluating your credentials. Lots also via skype.
I talked to about 10 to then eventually pick one and had a successful EB1A application in the arts/ music. Any credit you have can be helpful. And even though I am not in the same filed like you I can tell you that you might get very different opinions from people especially on a forum. I got NO chance because of false evaluation of my material, to most likely O1 but not an EB1A yet, to almost 100% strong case towards EB1A. At the end I listened to the right guy and we had a good ride without any problems. It was a lot of work and expensive of course, but it was worth it.
