Hello, VJ-ers. I was hoping to find some answers here as I’m about to prepare the materials for our ROC application.
 
If the mortgage loan was taken before I arrived and my husband has not added my name because we don’t want to refinance, should we still include mortgage bills as evidence of cohabitation and/or shared finances? (The payments for mortgage are coming from our joint checking.)
 
Also, an auto loan was taken early this year, but we didn’t apply jointly due to my limited credit history. Should we also include this since the bills are addressed to our residence and payments are coming from our joint checking?
 
If so, should we also include letters to explain why these loans are not “joint?”

1. If they are only going to rent, then there is no such thing as a one-time payment. There is an advance payment which is usually just up to 6 months or a year. But a real one-time payment for rent? Impossible.
2. If they are buying the house with just a $10,000 one-time payment, I would agree with what @Ehri&Mark has posted. It is way too cheap for a house located in Taguig. If what they meant by "one-time payment" is actually a "down payment," then for sure, there will be more payments needed.

Please be careful. Ask them questions. $10,000 is half a million pesos, and that is, by all accounts, already considered a large amount of money in the Philippines. Good luck.
 
EDIT: We use Xoom to send money to PH. It works best if wired to a BDO account as the transfer is almost real-time. With BPI, there is a delay of a few hours (4-5 hours max, based on my experience.)

Let me say this. Are you sure you are not getting scammed. This "stinks" of scamming from my experience and that is why I ask. Of course, what you do is your business, I understand that. Sending a check is very difficult. He would probably have to wait 30 days for it to clear after he deposits in his bank. Then once that happens he can either withdraw it as cash or they also may provide a check.  You could skip the 30 day wait if you were to send the money to your GF account and she can control it on your behalf.
 
I'm not sure that you can send $6,000 casy with Remitly but I know that Xoom just started offering money transfers up to $10,000.
 
I wish you the best and hope you have thought this through. Again, I think this could be a scam but I am not in your shoes. Please be careful.

Hi @strider4! My Received Date is April 3, and I-485 is still at "Fingerprint Fee Was Received." As an AOS applicant who's adjusting from K-1, I do welcome this rather long wait as it somehow gives me hope that I might get an interview waiver. 🙂 After all, I already have my EAD/AP combo card and it makes waiting for the GC bearable.
 
If you are also adjusting from K-1, I suggest you just patiently wait. If you're adjusting from a non-K-1 visa, I've read that you are most definitely going be scheduled for an interview. When? The timetable for your local office would be a good gauge.
 
If you are really worried or obssessed about it, I don't see how an InfoPass could hurt. Good luck, and may you receive favorable news. 🙂

@narakthisud I tried signing up for that but unfortunately, I couldn't pass the online verification as our address is still tied to the former owner. 😔 I would go to the nearest branch once I have my State ID to have it fixed. Thank you. 🙂

@MAYNYCFiler2017 I got the "under review" email yesterday for the completed SR for my EAD. Hopefully I do get the 'New card production' update as you mentioned! Hope you get your card soon! 
 
Hope everyone recieves good news this week!

Hi everyone, my EAD/AP was approved yesterday and the status has changed to "New card is being produced". What a relief. Keeping my fingers crossed that I receive it soon so that I can go back to work. 
 
I also had a similar issue to @OBGYNKENOBI; the interview notice was mailed on August 8th and I received it on Aug 11. But the I485 status online changed to 'Interview is scheduled' only on August 14 and received an email and text notification on the same day.
 
 

The USCIS app just alerted that the case statuses for my EAD and AP applications changed. They changed from "Case Was Received" to "Case Closed Benefit Received By Other Means". This is because I received my green card some time ago.

@OBGYNKENOBI I echo what @strider4 has just posted.  What a relief! Thank you for updating us. I know you didn't ask me, but I will answer anyway. From what I've read, in the event that the AOS gets approved first, the EAD and AP cases will then be closed. Their statuses will become "Case Closed Benefit Received By Other Means."
 
@yutekao Congratulations to you and your wife! So happy that the IO did not give you a hard time. I can only wish that those who will be having their interviews will be as lucky as you were with their IOs.

It is scary that aside from the physical letter, there's no other indication that your case is already scheduled for an interview. 😖 What if the letter did not arrive and the online status did not change at all? 😖 But anyways, good thing you got yours. 👍🏼
 
As for the I-693, if your K-1 medical and DS-3025 (vaccination worksheet) are still within 1 year at the time of your interview, then I think you should be fine. A word of caution though: there are posts claiming that not all IOs are aware of this. 😔
