Woah it's been a long time since I last came here. Has anyone heard of the immediate cheque to people under the Coronavirus relief plan? Here's the link (https://kdvr.com/news/coronavirus/family-of-4-could-get-3k-under-coronavirus-relief-plan-treasury-secretary-says/)

In the news it says the $1000 would be deposited to citizens only? So how about permanent residents who pay and file tax returns? Are we excluded in the plan?

I guess no one knows for sure at the stage but I want to know if anyone's wondering and hoping like I do now?
  2. Thanks

Well 2018 certainly still has penalties even though you do receive a grace period. You also have a grace period to sign up to the health exchange when the enrollment period is over under 'special qualifiers' - however you have waited too long I suspect. What I don't understand is that when you obtained your job, you weren't offered insurance immediately, as is typically normal for employers, of which you'd need to sign paperwork/discuss with HR. Since that period of time has also elapsed you'd have to wait until enrollment is open for that avenue as well. The most ideal form of insurance is typically that which you'd obtain from your employer or spouse's employer and a small portion of which comes out of your pay each month, while the employer absorbed the rest of the hefty cost. For example my husband's employer shelled out $18,000 in benefits, whereas his own contribute is quite small. Compare that to when we had private insurance which we paid for out of pocket, and were nearly approaching $900 a month for the two of us. By comparison most people would say $300 a month in premiums is significantly cheaper than what most are forced to pay either privately or through the ACA. Affordable Health Care act, is not *that* affordable for most, unless they qualify for a subsidy.

Still, the sooner you obtain health insurance, the sooner you will not be penalized, and the penalty may only be for partial months instead of the entire amount - which by comparison is far cheaper than monthly premiums will be on a good day. One lump sum equals a couple months of premiums vs a huge premium every month? The math works out in one's favor. While I know it is very expensive, it a burden everyone has to think about, as one trip to the hospital can be bankrupting.

I don't look my 50, no. I am smartish looking, cleanly well dress, modest and contemporary, not modern. I work in sales, so smart is essential along with self perspective.

As a foreigner, have you noticed anything odd in the american way of the employment process you would have never had thought of before immigrating?

One parent will do the I-864 and the other should file an I-864A, assuming they file taxes jointly.

If they are separated, only an I-864 from one parent is needed.

For the interview you'll need a marriage certificate.
For that, the birth certificate, and the police certificate, you'll also need photocopied because although they want to see the originals, they only keep the photocopy.

6 pics actually. 2 for interview(US size) and 4 for medical (any size).

Here below is the pic of your required docs and here's the link of interview's required docs (on the multiple drop down menus):

Paulonto reacted to Crazy Cat in Wanting to use husband's surname in the USA
The marriage certificate is a legal name change.  The married name should be used for the I-130 imo. Otherwise, her visa and, subsequently, the Green Card could be issued in her maiden name.  If I were the OP, I would use my married name for the I-130 and get a passport with my married name (or carry my marriage certificate as @Roel stated).
As @Roel said, you can use your married name on the I-130 while indicating your other names in the "AKA" fields.

As far as I understand it, you have to declare the truth as it stands on the day you sign the form, not as it will stand or may stand. Your current passport name is the correct one to use, and the only one to use.

Follow the exact instruction regarding the 4 steps here linked below:
    https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply-2
    Ds-260
    Police certificate
    Medical
    Interview.
Leave at least 2 weeks betwern medical and interview

    The i864 is imperative:
Youve done the personal check through the i130
    Youve done the criminal check.
The medical is your health check (You're vaccinated right?)
The i864 is the financial check, it shows you can support yourself, but if you cannot, then you'll need a co-sponsor to show THEY can support you financially

    You're very welcome
An unsigned document is an invalid document so yes, they definitely will need to sign it.
What I did was I emailed them the form, which a writeable PDF and after signing it on page 8 once all electronically  completed in capital letters, they posted it to me, since they want the signature to exclusively be ink.

It can take up to 2 weeks for the medical report to be received by the immigration office from the medical practice.
I didn't want to risk anything so I gave them 3 weeks and took a little break, although some ppl don't wait that long, and if the report hasn't arrived by the time you have your interview, they'll still go through the interview but no result will be given you until they receive the report (just like any other required documents....It's pending receipt.

You do do need to know now before you go any further, moeandlu.
    This is most vital.

Will the petitioner sponsoring the beneficiary be -provably- able to produce support for both petitioner AND the beneficial above poverty line +25% or not?

If yes then the petitioner fills one form and all's great.

If no, then petitioner sponsoring the beneficiary AND co-sponsors EACH fill their own i864.

In either case, be sure you know BEFORE making any medical or interview appointment.

As you're seeing, you're getting different answers for different countries. This is because each USCIS office has slightly different instructions. Some field offices accept petitions by mail, others only in person, and most others accept both. Your best bet is to check Frankfurt's USCIS field office's (not the embassy) website, found here: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/international-offices/germany-frankfurt-field-office . Their instructions for the I130 section (which you have to expand), say this:

As far as having to "apply" for DCF, no you don't have to do anything special. By submitting your I130 and supporting documents in accordance with the instructions above, you are implicitly applying for DCF. You may see things such as having to get approval from the local USCIS director, but again, this all happens implicitly after submitting your petition.

    Hello!

This may be a dumb question but the whole DCF process is a bit overwhelming for me. I’m hoping someone can shed a little light on my situation.

I am an American married to a German. We live in Germany and would like to file for his greencard through a DCF in Frankfurt. We have filled out the I-130 petition and would like to submit it. If we mail the documents to Frankfurt does this start a DCF process? Or do you have to apply for a DCF? How is this done?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

they will advertise when a job fair is to be held near u (usually twice a year)
several companies set up booths and talk to propective employees /
they are equiped to show products and tell about their serivices
if hiring they will show list of jobs available and website to apply for jobs / at times they may be free to take a resume on site
a good resume is always a plus
don't forget to check out the temp services / many companies now hire thru a temp agency offering full time work if your quality of work suits the company after a trial period

Bingo. You can technically file after expiration...your card expires but not your LPR status, but you wouldn't have any evidence of being an LPR. That creates potential issues for work and travel, so it's best to file before the 10 year card expires.
If you obtain citizenship, this goes away.

Edit: The form is an I-90.
