Thanks for the info, much appreciated! We've got loads of photos, so now we're working on acquiring the joint sponsor documents. Hoping for the best!

You had to get married within the 90 days of his entry. If you did that, you're good. The sooner you guys file for aos, the better. If it's filed before the 90 days are up, even better, so he will not accrue any overstay (that would be forgiven since he's married to a us citizen anyway).

as for vaccines, take a look on the ds3025 he received back from his medical, if it's marked complete, good, he will need to send a copy of that with the aos papers. If it's not marked complete, he'll have to go to an uscis approved civil surgeon to have his vaccinations transcribed to the i693.

Does your sister have you as a dependent on her Federal Tax returns? or are you a part of her household? Otherwise, she doesn't have to count you. Only her, her son and the two intended immigrants.

Yes, as with you, should would need to be able to cover financially herself and her household as well as your wife and step son.

She would need to supply the I-864 form with all supporting documentation. Same as you are doing.

Again she also would need to be able to show 125% for a household of 4 then. Herself, her child, your wife, and step son.

It does not get 'divided' between dependents or incomes added together. It is kept separately.

"This smells fishy" because most of your "vaguely remembered" information is wrong. My husband was not granted a visa before, nor has he travelled to the US. Maybe you should do your research before calling someone phony. In the city I am currently in, my husband and I have been told we cannot book a hotel in our city because of that "law" by many hotel owners. Why would I lie about that??? I'm glad you've had better experiences in India than we have, but maybe keep the pretension to yourself. I've come here for help, no need to make anything "fishy" up.

    Have a good day (:

Do you have to tell them when your flight is?
Couldn't you get your passport stamped 7 days prior and then go stay in a hotel in another city until your flight leaves?

I think a lot of us aren't seeing these stories as a new unprecedented thing;  we are seeing them under the new perspective of the messily implemented executive order. Secondary screening has always been a thing, but now they may or may not mean something different. In other circumstances I would say to people to "risk it" since the worse that could happen in normal circumstances is to get an unpleasant time detained or an invasive interrogation/search and that is always a risk just by flying, but as things stand now, people could be risking not being allowed into the country at all. I understand not wanting to fall for fear mongering, but I believe that an abundance of caution for now is not crazy.

You will need a co sponsor
What embassy are you going through, some do not allow them or allow them sparingly for K1 cases

For the actual K1 you need an income at least 100% of the poverty guidelines for your household size-which is 2 if it is just you and your fiance (neither of you having kids) for the adjustment of status you need to do after you are married you would need to demonstrate at least 125% of the poverty guidelines for your household size

Who is to say they won't extend the ban further?!! we know nothing, even the lawyers no nothing. Obviously not knowing is going to naturally cause fear in people. But I agree that people should take responsibility for their actions. People have voted for him and now have to live with the consequences.

It's funny, in all other parts of this forum we give each other information on experiences of others flying in. There are reviews on interviews and on POE and even a rating on the harassment level so that ppl can be well prepared and know what to expect. I'm sure most all of you that are saying it's not a big deal have read such reviews to be informed. Yet now, when people are reporting experiences and information on what to expect it is fear mongering and hysteria... smh

Exactly!  What is this definition of "hysteria"?  I had no idea conversation, debate, questions, ideas and sharing information were hysteria.   My husband and I are flying down south soon.  We have discussed taking immigration documentation to be safe, prepared, just in case.  We have discussed the domestic flight.  Had no idea we are being hysterical.

I like the way you are assuring people like you actually have a clue of what is happening at CBP in the airports.

You don't, so there no need for you to make an effort to assuage our well founded fears.
If we don't get our news from the news media, do I get it from you?

And no, I don't get my news from social media.

This may vary from state to state, but in general it is pretty good to have a SSN as soon as possible. If you get it before you marry and after the wedding you adopt your spouses last name (or hyphenating like I did), you'll have to go back with the marriage license and have them change the name and reissue the card.

Personally, I didn't want to try and get anything done with my maiden name, so I just waited till after the wedding, got my SS card with the married name and THEN I went ahead and got all the bank accounts, apartment leases, etc. etc. Getting all of those without a green card or EAD was hard enough, so I suggest to at least have your SS card sorted out already, to have at least one document with your proper current name.

Just like a couple of days ago there was no refugee/visa hold. Now there is. The article cited before and the current fears don't stem from people with too much imagination and time in their minds. It stems from drawing plausible outcomes to the situation. Trump did make statements during the campaign about "banning muslims" and was expressed in such a broad manner, that it was perfectly reasonable to conclude that even GC holders from those countries could potentially be denied re-entry. While to reasonable people this may seem ridiculous, similar crazy things have happened already. With ease. What everyone here is talking about is caution, uncertainty and fear. Do you think that things are just the same as they were months ago? They are not and this uncertainty, which hopefully will not be confirmed with worse news, is for now, reasonable.

As of now, no. There is however a feeling of uncertainty based on the views of Trump and past statements he has made. Personally, I can't put it past the new administration to enact some sort of ban like this.

Yes, the executive orders, as of now, don't affect current GC holders. There's no certainty though that this won't change in the future. Also, it's not just a 90 days pause. These 90 days are supposed to give the new administration time to come up with a definitive plan of action. That means that after the 90 days they may or may not be able to enter the country/continue processing.

Agreed with everyone above. What I used the entire time until I got my EAD for proof legal status was a copy of my NOA1 showing that the petition for AOS has been received and is being processed.

I wasn't sure of the same thing, so in my case I said we had first met online on X website and that in X date I came to meet him in person and that since then, we had seen each other 2 more times in my home country. It was just barely longer than the space available, so we attached a supplement page that had 3 lines in total. It really doesn't have to be long, since you'll have to provide evidence later on anyway.

In your case I'd say something like "We met the first time more than two years ago in this way, blahblah and in the past two years I've gone to visit her on this dates, or she has come to visit me on this dates..."
