Good evening everybody,
My congratulations for everybody who got their passports already - just today or recently))) wow, literally THE END after so many days/ months/years in immigration process.
I applied today, in the Clerk's of the County Office. Paid for expedite processing and 1-2 day shipping. Plus I paid for overnight delivery of my papers to the... facility, I assume?
So... waiting.
Good luck to everybody and thank you for shearing this valuable information.

Good morning, friends!
Aaaaaaaand!!! My Visajourney is over. Today I became a citizen of the USA. Woooooooooowwwww!!!
Long story short:
01.19.2021 - Applied online.
01.23.2021 - NOA Date
02.03.2021 - Biometric reuse letter
06.22.2021 - Interview.
07.01.2021 - Oath Ceremony. I had to reschedule The Oath Ceremony because I had to leave July, 3rd. Actually, it was quite easy: send the Oath ceremony notice back (to the Tampa Field Office) with the explanation letter. They called me from the Tampa Field Office on June, 30th, asked if everything is still in order and when exactly I will be coming back.
Then in my personal cabinet they issued a letter:
"This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled Oath Ceremony on Thursday, July 01, 2021 at 09:00AM for the above applicant."
So, I was abroad for a month and tree days after my return to the USA I got a notification that my Oath Ceremony is scheduled.
08.24.2021- Oath Ceremony.
Wow!!!)))
Good luck and God speed!

Did you particularly ask the embassy if they are ready to accept your case with your work visa? Send the e mail or something? Got the answer?
-
Too late to ask, of course, but wasn’t she given the copy of her medical records and the copy of the x-rays after her medical in her country?
We were told (in my country) that the original papers and one copy of the chest x-rays were going to the embassy and the second set, the copy, we were told to bring with us here, just in case.
Is there a chance to contact the medical facility in her country, may be they have records?
Sorry for another “hoop” you have to jump:(((

@Cassis1978 thanks for your response. Yes, my aunt will be a joint sponsor for I-864. That's why we are planning for my mom to go back to the states 2-3 months before my consular interview. Maybe it will break the problem of domicile once she back there before my consular interview? Do you think that will work?
No, sorry, I don’t think it will work.
@SusieQQQ as always gives great advise - read the message above. Just to be 2-3 month before the interview won’t break the problem of domicile.

@Cassis1978 what do you mean submitted the declarations to IRS? She's retired now and has below minimum income that's why she's not filing income tax anymore. She only has a US debit and credit card. No property in the states. She used to live with my aunt in the states. What's the power bill? Should we work on that before submitting I-864 and before my consular interview?
Oh I see about taxes.
So you will have a co-sponsor for the I-864? Someone from your family in USA, aunt may be? Because how otherwise you mom may sign the Affidavit of support without any income?
Don’t forget, later you would have to submit the financial evidence, check this out:
Power bill - it’s a bill for electricity, that’s how we were proving my mother’s in law domicile - she had no property, no income, and my husband was a co-sponsor for his sister (her daughter). -

Hope someone can help me. My US citizen mom filed for I-130 to me, a single adult from India. She now lives and back to India since 2019. NVC is now asking to submit all documents and forms (DS-230 and I-864). We don't know what should we write down on the physical presence address for my mom. Should it be address from the states or India? If India, then her domicile requirement will be a problem? Please help me. Thanks.
Was she paying taxes or at least submitted the the declarations to IRS? Does she have property in the USA to show the real address?
Checking account only is not ok. It would be a problem if she can’t show the physical address in the USA - we had this problem with my mother in law and her daughter (my husband’s sister). So we had to add her to the power bill, open a debit card, fix all the tax problems. It was a real pain in the neck TBH.
And Jorgedig made a very good point actually. -
It will actually help - additional pictures, boarding passes and all the stuff for the interview. Plus additional meetings - it’s always a plus :))

When I asked about this in late 2020 a response from someone said that due to COVID it would be alright, but now more time has elapsed. Even though some European countries could travel, the big airports were not letting Ukrainians through and I am not sure how how long the Kiev International airport was closed down during covid. Her surgeries were on hold until the medical facilities would open back up. It was a long process, (they would open for a while and then close again. I planned on having her get a statement from her doctor and have it translated that she could not travel. From there I do not know what else to do. So if her Green Card is still current, where will she run into the problem? At the departing airport or the first airport in the USA?
Well, late 2020 was may be ok, but now it’s July of 2021. Don’t get me wrong, I wish you all the best, we all remember what immigration is (or was).
But I know for sure (I have a lot of Ukrainian friends) that Moscow airport was open, London was a great option, but especially Istanbul aero port (amazing, cheap and extremely convenient option for Ukrainians) was open till May or June of 2021 and already open again - so there were a lot of options to plan a connecting flight from Kiev.
Great option would’ve been the Re-entry permit (but as far as I remember it should’ve been done before you left the country), but now... I can only guess, but even if you google it looks like abandonment of green card.
So you definitely have to put together the package with medical documents, but how this will work - I can’t say, sadly, I can only assume. Plus keep the copy of that package - in case there will be questions during the ROC process because you would have to explained how and why you were separated for so long and how this works with bona fide marriage.
Anyway, I wish you all the best and hope everything will work for you and your wife this way or another. -

VJ,
If there is a link available for my situation please advise. Okay, so my wife has her first Green Card which expires in November of this year. She went back in Feb 2020 on vacation and was stuck there for all of 2020 and part of 2021, (then had to have surgery). My two questions are: 1. is there a "remaining time on the green card" for her to return to the US? 2. Are we able to renew/apply for her second green card while we are dislocated. We are hoping for a Sept/Oct 2021 after she recovers from a semi-serious surgery she just had. My concern is that immigration is going to give us a hard time for the length of time she has been gone.
Thanks everyone
Gary
A year and a half - it’s a lot. Like a lot lot.
That’s what USCIS says:
A U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) or Conditional Resident (CR) who has remained outside the United States for longer than one year, or beyond the validity period of a Re-entry Permit, will require a new immigrant visa to enter the United States and resume permanent residence.
Last month the immigration gave a hard time to my mother in law, who spent 8 month abroad. Just because of her age and all these COVID problems (she lives in London) they let her in.
You would need a story/legend why she couldn’t come earlier - is it because of the surgery? If she just had a surgery, recently - then you would have to explained why she couldn’t come back to the USA earlier, after a couple of month in Ukraine. Because there were flights all the time to the USA, so you would need an explanation.
Make sure that you have some medical papers ready and translated to demonstrate why she couldn’t come earlier. -

Good afternoon everyone,
Today I had my interview in Tampa USCIS Office.
There were SO MANY people this morning, it's just unbelievable - like, around 30 for the ceremony and huge line for 9am interview. It seems to me that I was the only one without lawyer or interpreter, interesting fact...
The process is standard I believe - checking the list with security guard before the entry, then all the security protocol, then I got my number from the front desk (is it a front desk? They assigned the number and told me to wait).
The officer was very neutral and I'm happy about it - not good, not bad, very official and very fast, eventually).
She asked to read a sentence from the tablet, then asked to write a sentence, and wright after asked couple of questions:
- When the Declaration of independence was adopted?
- How many voting members the House of Representatives has?
- Why do some states have more Representatives then others?
- Name three original states.
- Name one war fought by the Unites States in the 1800.
After, she asked a couple of questions, like, if I'm still married, is this the same address we live in, when did we buy it, then this list of question where we are supposed to say NO to everything).
Aaaand that's all. She gave me this N-652 form, where is mentioned that I passed the English test and the application has been recommended for approval, and said that the Letter for Oath Ceremony will come by mail within next 3-4 weeks, as soon as it will be sheduled.
So, that was it. 5-year journey is almost over. Still cant believe it)
And thank you, thank you to everyone who shared their stories, who submitted samples, who advised and supported.
I wish everyone only best of luck and hope that this certificates of naturalization will bring peace and prosperity to all of us.
God speed and good luck!

I’m planning to file for my citizenship, but. since I’m not planning to go anywhere outside United States I’m not renewing my Philippine passport which is going to expired this coming July 2021. My question is, a valid passport required for filing for citizenship?
I’m waiting for the interview right now and in the list of the docs that I’m supposed to bring with me to the interview was mentioned “a passport or any other document used to enter the country”.
So I had to renew my passport as urgent as possible:(( strongly recommend to find out this info about your state - may be you would have to do something with your passport as well.

We’re in Tampa as well. Filed January 16 received NOA soon after and then absolutely nothing since then lol. But Im glad you’re progressing. Hopefully something happens for us soon.
Omg. So sorry to hear it:(((
With my second green card it was crazy - 18 month. Tampa is sooooo behind - new huge building, but so many cases... and not enought people at all. I was absolutely surprised when I got info about interview, didn’t have spect anything earlier then September - October best case scenario.
but a friend of mine finished all the process in 3(three) month from filing to getting a passport - in Jacksonville, FL. And another friend is that I airing for 28 month already in California. That’s crazy....And what about your biometrics? Any updates? Did you ask about your case progress on USCIS site?
-
Hope everything is fine with everybody:)
Colleagues, i have a guest ion about green card.
The problem is my interview is June, 22, but I really need to go abroad in the beginning of July.Would I be able to keep my green card after the interview or i would have to submit it to the officer (or anybody) in case my interview is successful?
thank you.

I believe you will get your Certificate at the Oath Ceremony. I think you should find out if Tampa does same day Oath Ceremony.....Congratulations!!!!
Oh thank you, I didn’t even think about the same day Oath Ceremony, need to find out!
can’t believe, to tell the truth, I remember June 2015 when we just about to submit al the papers - and omg, I couldn’t even imagine all this way ahead of us:)))

Happy Monday and hope everyone are doing ok!
Got a letter this Saturday, my interview is scheduled for 6/22, Tampa office (well, like always))).
It’s interesting, but I was told in the beginning that it will take 8 month, when I submitted all the docs in January, and most likely that was correct - interview, then the oath ceremony, this and that... and it’s 8 month all together.
By the way, when does the certificate will be ready and given to me? After the oath ceremony or later? Don’t know this part of the protocol at all.
thank you and good luck!
