Oh, those will get answered, it's still early. We will get a report on how awesome Vermont is or how this is stirring the pot.

Garylogic. Every bit as confusing and ridiculous as Danno's, just easier to read.

It's hard for you to understand where she is coming from. No one will ever discriminate against you.

There is nothing about the two visas that are similar. Your view of what it takes to get a tourist visa is totaly flawed. It can be very difficult or impossible for many people to get a tourist visa and it takes much longer than a day or a week.

I was once told by an (as-was then) INS officer, "It's a system based on equality. We treat everyone the same way, and you should be proud of that." I shut up -- he was right.
The amount of amateur dramatics on VJ about timelines is consistently astounding. Hey guys! Guess what? YOU'LL LIVE. These months will fade into insignificance once the hard and messy reality of married life comes upon you. As has been said before, take this time to get prepared. This is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make in your life, and you need to take it seriously. You'd think people around here were starry-eyed adolescents in the throes of puppy love, instead of adults making an adult decision to be, y'know, ADULTS together. This is especially true for many of you who have not known their fiances or spouses long before filing. Get to know the person you are going to be sharing your life with on a more practical level. What will he/she do for work? Is school an option? Are there children coming over? Do you have children who will need to get used to a new stepparent? How will you handle finances? Etc etc.
That is the everyday stuff of married life, and it is too often neglected in the glamour of romance. You are all adults. Act like you are.

They asked me once how many luggage I had. I said one. The guy sent me to secondary check... My guess was that it was to make sure I just had one luggage, cause they didn't ask me more questions in secondary check. So this can make a difference to have only reasonable luggage when visiting the US. But how much is too much? This probably depends on the custom guy....
Being a foreigner, traveling with many items in a country can be considered as suspicious signs of intent of immigrating (and we must show them we won't immigrate... so bringing a lot of stuff is probably not a good idea)
This is different for the USC, you live in the US, ... No intent to immigrate for you
To the OP, wether they control you or not is luck. But if you are all stressed because you think there is a good chance they'll refuse you if they control you.... then there is a good chance they control you. I really think they actually look out for stressed people, people who show signs of anormal anxiety etc. This is not all just random (even if it can be too)...
    anyway... good luck!

You have not been cheated. It you never discussed sex before you decided to spend the rest of your life with someone else, it clearly means it is not an important aspect of marriage for you. It seems it only became important after your wife got here. This is called 'bait-and-switch'.
If anything, I think your wife got cheated because you sent her back - as one would a package - because she did not feel comfortable having sex with a stranger.
I would say, set her free. Let her go and be happy and try and find someone you want to marry rather than someone who someone else picked for you. Give her a divorce and be wiser for having learned another lesson in life.
    Good luck!

Personally, I'd be more concerned with someone clandestinely accessing my personal account and reading my emails than with an experimental kiss that he felt bad about before you were married.

We don't do context here. We also don't talk about the woman that died in a Catholic hospital because the hospital refused to save the woman's life by removing a dying fetus from the woman's womb. What would have saved the woman's life was considered a late term abortion by the hospital and the woman paid with her life for that orthodoxy. The hospital is getting sued and I hope that whatever settlement is achieved puts that hospital out of business. They killed a woman. But we do not talk about that.

So let me get this straight...
A woman dies during an abortion and it's a call for outrage.
A woman dies because she was DENIED an abortion and it doesn't matter?

Don't pretend to care about the mother in either situation.

When you have lived somewhere for years you set down roots and it becomes your home. To state that, because a marriage did not work out, the immigrant should just give everything up and return to their homeland.... where their former life and everything they once had is now gone.... is very callous indeed. It is always wrong to make assumptions about another person when you have no background information or personal knowledge. Judge not.....

    Hello, and welcome to VJ.
This is not a process you want to begin until you are ready to move to the US. Getting remarried would be a crazy thing to do because the marriage date is still your original one. You never, ever, lie at any part of this process. Misrepresentation is taken very seriously and is grounds for a lifetime bar.

A lawyer does not care about your petition or your situation, just about getting paid thats all. They would care less about your petition than you would. More likely for the lawyer to mess stuff up so you pay them longer and more money.
Get a P.O box or a box at the post office and collect your personal mail from there so your mom doesn't know or see it. Do the paper work yourselves it will save you a LOT of money considering this process is already very expensive. If you make a mistake for whatever reason - it will be free and easy for yourselves to fix it. But this website has fully filled out example forms, offers advise from people who already did the forms etc and you can check quickly before sending something / doing something to make sure everything is correct.

There is absolutely no protection for a K-1 beneficiary through a USC signing an I-864. None. And divorces happen whether it's a non-USC or not, so you are not comparing apples to apples. All the I-864 does is to allow the government to apply for restitution should the beneficiary need to apply for basic needs. And, even then, we have yet to hear of a USC being invoiced for such.
It is very disturbing that you believe the USC is taking more of a risk than the beneficiary. This couldn't be further from the truth in the majority of cases.
    Amen.
As this is not a K-1 Process issue I am moving the thread to Off Topic.

I agree that the visa laws are federal but it is the option of each jurisdiction to determine the length of your stay. Once in Izhevsk, my visa was 6 months but when we went to register, I was only allowed 90 days. I was told I could go to another area but not stay in Izhevsk past 90 days.
I am familiar with the special regulations for certain places. I have been to Yakutia, one of those places with special regulations.
Nevertheless, I prefer not to continue this discussion. If you do not believe me, either call the minister in Amur region or just be happy you are always right. The one thing I have learned in Russia, things change in Russia. Just because there is a federal regulation, that does not always filter down to the locals or may be enforced differently.

Just curious - it doesn't concern you that he's had so many relationships with American women? And then his response in the other thread about never getting tired of trying to get to the U.S. That would freak me out to be honest.
