Yes there are a lot of success stories. Actually my familiy's case was a success too. It was a very easy interview for my wife. She got asked only one question and the rest of the interview was just like a kids play between the interviewing officer and my little kids

What i meant by front and side loading was during the USCIS and NVC stage I sent a lot of supporting documents. These included, boarding passes of previous travels, pictures, letter from my employer, my life insurance beneficiary form, 401-K beneficiary forms, and other documents which proved my relationship with my wife.
So at the interview no new evidence was requested and it gave the interviewing officers ample time to go through my documents and make a decision before the actual interview

Hi Michael - sorry for the late reply but in my case I did add alot of evidence of bonafide relationship at NVC stage although it wasn't requested. I added pictures, letters, chat logs, boarding passes of previous travel etc and just placed all in a folder which was named as supporting documents.
As result when my wife went to the interview they told her she didn't need to provide any new support documents since they had received most of it already. I think it helps them review the documents and make a decision beforehand which is actually very good.

You should have your GC in 3-4 weeks after entering the US.

An employer would require you to show proof of legal authority to work before you get hired. you should be able to use your passport with the immigrant visa in it as proof. But i think you should wait for your GC since you'd be getting in within a week or two time

Conditions under which you could lose your greencard:

The US green card can make the green card holder a permanent resident of the US for life. In most cases, this status is truly permanent, but in some very rare cases the green card can be revoked. This usually happens due to:
Immigration fraud. If someone marries a US citizen only to get a green card, the green card can be revoked. Practically, however, this rarely happens as it is very difficult to prove that someone married only for a green card. Criminal activity. In some cases, a green card holder may commit a serious enough crime that is grounds for deportation. In this case, the green card can be revoked. Fraud. If the permanent resident lied, omitted relevant information on their application, or committed any fraud to get a US green card and this is discovered after the green card is issued, the green card may be revoked. Abandonment. If a US green card holder remains outside of the US too long – generally, 180 days or more annually – he or she is seen as abandoning their green card status and the status will be revoked. Once you are a green card holder, it is important to intent to maintain residency in the US. If you need to travel outside the US for an extended period of time, you will need to secure travel documents that can show that you do not intend to abandon your status.

So my wife and two kids had their interview scheduled at 7.30am at the US Embassy in Accra. They arrived there at 6 but entered the embassy building around 7.45am went through the normal proceedings.
She was first called to submit her documents. Only the medical results, passport pictures, postcards, seasonal cards and passport were taken. The rest of the documents including the DS 260 confirmation page, copy of my GC, birth certificates, marriage certificates, Affidavit of support, W2, 2016 tax transcript were all returned to her.

Second person to call her was a young white lady who asked her to take the oath. after that she asked her if we've ever conducted a DNA test on the kids to confirm paternity of which my wife responded in the negative. The CO then remarked that "the kids look very well like their dad".
She then ask each of my kids what their names were and how old they were for which they all answered. My wife was asked to take a seat and after about 10 mins she was called to window 4.

Then there was a funny young man who came to interview them.
    He asked
    1. When last did you see your husband?
    2. Have you travelled before?
    3. and took the new pictures my wife brought
Then he smiled and said "Welcome to America. Everything is in order and your visa is approved" and handed her the blue sheet and described how she can go and collect her visa from the DHL office. He also handed all the documents i sent to NVC back to her.

In all she says the actual interview took less than 4 minutes.

PS: I actually did front and side load my application at USCIS and NVC so it made it much easier for them.

if you get traditionally engaged you are not qualified for K-1 visa. you'll have to file I-130 for a IR1/CR1 visa.
Why would you even be desperate to have an engagement without your partner just because you want proof for visa????

So similar thing happened to my brother-in-law in 2003. He applied for a B1/B2 visitor visa, got approved and asked to come for his visa after 3 days. On the day of collection they informed him there had been a problem and as a result he has been denied a visa to the US and banned from entering the US indefinitely. what was the problem?
About 5 years before this incident, a former girlfriend of his had applied for the DV lottery and put his name as her husband. She won and processed it but by then my in-law and her weren't together again so my in-law wasn't informed and wasn't involved in the process. This lady managed to include a pastor in Ghana to be in the place of my in-law. meaning the pastor got processed bearing the name, DOB and every other biographic details as my in-law. My in-law didn't know anything about this.
So it was after my in-law's interview the embassy found out that a person bearing the same biographic details was living in the US. to them it didn't sound right.
To sum it, my in-law was informed about the whole issue. He was denied and banned from the U.S. although he didn't have anything to do with it and the Consulate even acknowledged the possibility of him being just a victim of visa fraud.
So what am I trying to say? It is sad this has happened to you but looks like the future regarding your approval looks very gloomy. But hey anything is possible. Lets keep hope alive and keep praying to God for a miracle.
    All the best!

Denial shouldn't be a red flag all the time. Before i got my immigrant visa i had 4 denials in total. One from the US Embassy and 3 from the British High Commission. Even then i had "naively" used a black permanent marker to paint the stamp from the BHC in my passport. But upon all these i still got approved after less than 5 mins interview. The point is situations change over time and the reason for denial some years back might not apply today. The substance of your case at present determines whether you get approved or not.
And like you said the forum has a lot of denials. it makes it look like the embassy is just denying people. But i know so many people getting approved. some with very dubious cases. I think most denials on this forum do not really paint the clear picture as to why they get denied. most people do not disclose the full details of the denials only sharing part of the story that will court public sympathy

Some of the lawyers are even more confused than the petitioners/applicants...
