I posted this story in another thread, but I think it's appropriate to recant it here.
I'm quite good with voices and impersonations, and I personally used to think I did a pretty convincing, non-regional American accent. The first time I visited my wife in Baytown, we decided to put it to the test. She dared me to go into Walgreens and buy a pack of smokes using my fake American voice. I entered the store and she followed not too long after to eavesdrop. I got to the counter and asked for a pack of Camels. The clerk asked, "what colour?" I hadn't anticipated a return question so I blurted out "black", which is kind of a hard word to pull off in an accent because of the hard "a" sound, and it came out sounding like somewhere between Montreal and the noise a duck makes.
This aroused some suspicion in said clerk (a young guy) who promptly asked to see my ID. Imagine my sheer and utter embarrassment when I handed over my British driver's license...

Yes you can send extra evidence with the IV package to the NVC to make sure the CO has the evidence in hand before the interview. You would likely put a binder clip on it and in the cover letter explain it is extra marriage evidence.

This is called "side-loading" by the way.

shippingforecast got a reaction from NikLR in Requesting an interview general time frame with NVC... Is there any way at all?
I've never heard of the NVC assigning a preferred interview date - from what I know cases just go into a queue and are treated on a first-in, first-out basis. You'd be better off waiting for them to assign a date and then trying to request an earlier date from the embassy themselves.
Try and get your medical out of the way as soon as possible and make sure you have all the required documents for interview. Bear in mind these can vary case to case. You should receive a checklist of what to take inside your P4 email, when your interview date is scheduled by the NVC.
I was able to schedule my medical before I received my interview date. I simply took along my DS-260 confirmation page which confirmed my case number and visa class (CR-1).
Once your medical is done, you have all required documents for interview and you have a confirmed interview date, track the case to the embassy using CEAC.
    https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==
Once the case reaches the embassy (the status should show as "ready"), head on over to the embassy's webpage and use the contact form to request an earlier interview date and tell them that you are available at short notice.
    http://london.usembassy.gov/mobile/iv/contact_us.html
State that your medical is complete and you have all required documents and are ready for interview. I can't guarantee that they will definitely change it for you, but from what I've read London are fairly accommodating.
    Good luck!

Sorry for interrupting this thread. I've finally gotten my interview, in a few weeks time, so I guess I'm in the final furlong. Instead of posting a new thread declaring this to all of VJ, I just wanted to post here (where I know you all hang out) to say thanks for all your advice, guidance, and humour. I'd have been lost without you. Well, not quite, but, y'know.
Premature as I know I still have the interview ahead, I just have a lot to do over the next couple of weeks and wanted to make sure I didn't forget my manners in the process.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought using the above with your case number and getting a status of "in transit" is a way of finding out whether it's left the NVC...

This exactly. All these side arguments about the good it does towards conservation - just donate the $45k if you're really that passionate and wealthy enough for it. If you're happy that the meat goes to local villagers - send them food aid instead. If you're concerned about an old bull spreading disease in a herd - tranquillise it and put it down humanely, instead of with an arrow to the face. And last of all, don't pose proudly next to a corpse like you're Ed Gein. It's just completely shameless and revelatory of an unnecessary death. The over-privileged blood-crazed proponents of trophy hunting will argue these points - that somehow, their desire to senselessly kill brings good to the world, that it may even be a necessary act - until they are blue in the face to try and detract from the real point of it; which is that actively enjoy murdering a sentient being that cannot defend itself in equal terms.

Charles is a moderator. Apparently that means it's ok to trash the thread and participate in a passive aggressive non participatory way.If these sorts of white man's privilege trophy hunts are justifiable it shouldn't be hard to explain why.
Of course they aren't, so it is and he hasn't, nor will he..
But then again we should protect the wealthy hunt class from being marginalised. It's the fair and reasonable thing to do.

I've read a lot of counter-arguments on this based around how the primary goal is "conservation" but I just don't see how shooting the thing you want to conserve in the face even comes into it. It's like taking a failing business that has a lot of locations, pumping in a bunch of money to help keep them open, but only on the proviso that you can burn down one of them.
It's a completely futile argument. They do it because they enjoy killing.

People are going "on and on" because of that very topic.
Your Egyptian relative who did a runner on your sister is going to cause major red flags in your case, as such, people are trying to HELP you by making sure you have adequate evidence to ensure your case is approved. There's nothing you can do about your uncle other than make sure you have a rock-solid case - hence the questions.
Because you have given confusing (and, frankly, peculiar) stories about the photos you have with your partner and your plans for marriage, we as mere readers are concerned that you a) don't have enough evidence, so bad uncle or not you're gonna have issues and b) don't fully understand the requirements of your application. This is a DIY site, we help people through to successful visas.
