Why do folks feel the need to mask up? I know when I see people at work, or out in public with masks on I assume the person is either a gaslighted Leftist or they themselves are sick. In the case of the latter, I am more upset that if they are in fact sick, what are they doing out in public or at work.

HOW LOW CAN BLUE CITIES SINK? [merged threads]

Well it seems the mayor of Chicago has the answer to all the crime that has forced Walmart and Whole Foods to close their city stores, city owned grocery stores. I am sure these will be left alone. I know the phrase "hasn't got a clue" is used a lot for these idiot "progressive" politicians, maybe someday voters will actually understand. Chicago mayor considers creating city-owned grocery store after Walmart, Whole Foods close stores in the city Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced last week that his administration is exploring a city-owned grocery store as a means of promoting "equitable" access to food, though the plan has drawn criticism from skeptics of a government owned and operated store. Chicago would become the first major U.S. city to implement a municipally owned grocery store to address food inequity if the proposal advances, the mayor’s office said in a release. Johnson’s office said Wednesday that it’s working with the Economic Security Project, a non-profit group, on a feasibility study that "will help inform the Johnson administration’s emerging food retail strategy, which will receive input from experts, community leaders, and Chicago’s Food Equity Council." "All Chicagoans deserve to live near convenient, affordable, healthy grocery options. We know access to grocery stores is already a challenge for many residents, especially on the South and West sides," Johnson said. "My administration is committed to advancing innovative, whole-of-government approaches to address these inequities. I am proud to work alongside partners to take this step in envisioning what a municipally owned grocery store in Chicago could look like." https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/chicago-mayor-considers-creating-city-owned-grocery-store-after-walmart-whole-foods-close-stores-in-the-city/ar-AA1gRld1 -
I don't completely disagree. I think the disastrous US exit from Afghanistan may have played a role in the decision making. My only point is the analysis/narratives we get from the neo-Cons in the West is not necessarily correct. Btw, I see the totalitarian Zelenskyy is back in the US begging for money. I wish the Congress would put a stipulation that there will be no more money until Ukraine releases the USCs they are detaining. Not really certain anyone knows what they were thinking. Most of the analysis we get here in the US or in Western Europe is coming from neo-Cons who are adding their own biases, or they are simply just trying to sound smart. There was a real red line in Russia, and unlike Obama that talks a big game with lines in the sand, but usually backs down. It seems many in Europe and the US figured other heads of state would act similarly as they pushed to expand NATO even further.

Pretty much as expected. While I agree the insurance rates on EVs may come down some over time, the fact that the battery pack can be damaged even by a minor accident will leave them higher than their ICE equivalent. It will be curious to see what CBP does if the person is actually truthful of their plan when entering the US. -
Interesting analysis. The Russian invasion was a rational act These claims all rest on common understandings of rationality that are intuitively plausible but ultimately flawed. Contrary to what many people think, we cannot equate rationality with success and non-rationality with failure. Rationality is not about outcomes. Rational actors often fail to achieve their goals, not because of foolish thinking but because of factors they can neither anticipate nor control. There is also a powerful tendency to equate rationality with morality since both qualities are thought to be features of enlightened thinking. But this too is a mistake. Rational policies can violate widely accepted standards of conduct and may even be murderously unjust. So what is “rationality” in international politics? Surprisingly, the scholarly literature does not provide a good definition. For us, rationality is all about making sense of the world — that is, figuring out how it works and why — in order to decide how to achieve certain goals. It has both an individual and a collective dimension. Rational policymakers are theory-driven; they are ** theoreticus. They have credible theories — logical explanations based on realistic assumptions and supported by substantial evidence — about the workings of the international system, and they employ these to understand their situation and determine how best to navigate it. Rational states aggregate the views of key policymakers through a deliberative process, one marked by robust and uninhibited debate. https://unherd.com/2023/09/the-russian-invasion-was-a-rational-act/

I recovered my lost green card.

It might take some time for USCIS to respond to a written request to withdraw your I90. I would not worry too much about it at this point. -
Greencard expired

The OP should save the CBP link in case they need to educate any airline employees. Unfortunately, the CBP Carrier Guide is still circa 2019 and has not been updated yet. -

This is what I found. Good Luck! Withdrawing the I-90 When you submit an I-90 application, you will receive a receipt number from the USCIS that begins with either LIN or MSC. If you wish to later withdraw the application (if, for example, you find the card or have it returned), you must send a written request to either the Nebraska Service Center (for LIN receipts) or the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri (for MSC receipts). The USCIS does not refund application fees. https://legalbeagle.com/12326650-withdraw-i90-application.html -

This ^^^^^. Since the I90 is an online service, as @little immigrant stated, you can print out the letter as proof. CBP may give you a hard time if it is not the original watermarked version, but they should let you in. USCIS Extends Green Card Validity Extension to 24 Months for Green Card Renewals If your permanent resident card or conditional permanent resident card has expired and you have already applied to renew it or remove conditions, you may show your expired card along with your receipt notice as evidence of continued status. USCIS has revised language on receipt notices for Form I-90, Form I-751, and Form I-829 that extend the validity of a permanent resident card for 24 months. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens -

Hmm, interesting how some are taking advantage of the situation. I wonder if they rent out the prostitution tent by the minute or the hour? Denver homeless camp has decked-out open-air BAR that also rents out tents for prostitution https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12522933/Denver-homeless-camp-bar-rent-prostitution.html -
Keep voting “regressive”… AOC, other Dems drowned out by screaming protesters at NYC migrant crisis news conference Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and other Democrats were loudly heckled Friday at a press conference in New York City regarding the migrant crisis there. The Democrats, who spoke outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, which has become a relief center for asylum seekers, were drowned out by shouting protesters chanting, "Send them back!" and "Close the border!" "Close the border! Close the border! Respect the constitution, AOC! I am your constituent!," a man was heard among the angry crowd, shouting into a megaphone. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/aoc-other-democrats-drowned-out-screaming-protesters-nyc-migrant-crisis-news-conference
