  1. So hello everyone, after posting in this group and learning so much things have gone to a bad turn. Things aren’t going well at all and we both are considering a divorce. So here is the run down, she has never been in the United States and we had gotten Married in October (7months)of last year in Nigeria. I already filed the I-130 and still waiting. Regarding the divorce, how do I seek a divorce from my wife so she doesn’t retain my last name. I could just leave but I do not think that’s the right thing to do. Is it possible for me to file for a divorce without having to return to Nigeria? And I was reading about the 2 year rule of divorce in Nigeria and I was wondering if that applied to me since I’m not a resident of Nigeria? I need help please!!!!
  2. I mean anyway I can bring her here as a visitor until the process is done. I’ve heard that it can take a while.
  3. If I submitted my I-130 in November and I am awaiting for an answer, can I invite my wife to the U.S. or will it prolong the process? Or will it extend the time that I’m awaiting now?
  4. I seeing the information and you explained it to me so what I’m going to do is submit her birth certificate that includes her baptism and religious records included like you said
  5. Ok so when I went ahead and it said that if I don’t have any of these records then I have to submit a written document from 2 witnesses that knows about it. It also said that if I don’t submit it it will result in my application being delayed or not processed.
  6. After I entered the I-130a for my spouse and I’m not including any children. It asked me this under a topic called “official Statement” and from what I can see it sounds like this is for a child but I can be wrong can someone please assist me please?
  7. Hello everyone so I’ve been working on the document the I-130 and the I-130A. I’ve made it to the end where it’s asking about this information, I’m going to attach a picture can someone explain this to me please?
  8. Thank you so much the reason why I ask is because the document that I saw it only asked for current employment, or if I was retired I am not retired.
  9. Hello all! Do I still use an I-130 as the first step file for my wife if I’m a disabled veteran and receive benefits and if so can some one show me an example?
  10. With any of the other forms besides the I-130 that I need to bring her over do I have to have any type of joint finances with my wife?
  11. I don’t have any credit cards in the US to add her to. I even tried to add her to my bank account, but they told me that since she was not physically there that they could not add her to my account. And I don’t file taxes, but I do receive VA benefits and before I leave Nigeria, I was trying to ensure that I did not have to have it, so I was just submit a supporting documentation along with the nearest certificate and the other witnesses for the affidavit, etc..
  12. Is it mandatory that my wife and I share finances? I ask because I was told that I had to either show joint ownership such as a bank account or something to that extent. I’ve been trying to open a joint account in Nigeria but they told me that I have to have a bvn number I’m having a difficult time trying to get it. If I make the 125% poverty rate is that enough?
  13. Hello everyone, I’m planning to get Married to a woman that’s in Nigeria. Since I receive a pension from the military (VA Disability) do I still fill out the I-130 or do I use another document instead?
