Er, when you've started a process and then the rules of the process are being changed underway and the whole thing is made more drawn out and onerous while you're still in that process, I think then it is legitimate to get a little upset.

Hypothetically speaking he could be telling the truth.   Government agencies do make mistakes.   In my NOIR it mentioned me being married twice before which was untrue.  I just responded to the NOIR with the facts,  I did not use an attorney and it was reaffirmed.   We don't know this gentleman from Adam he is asking for advice is it so hard to just give it without making assumptions that he is hiding something?

OP I have to admit this is tough one.  You really need to seek advice from an attorney even if its after your wife prepares the rebuttal just to have them look it over.  Also seek advice with a Pakistan attorney regarding how to prove you were never married.

    Whelp...

I guess I actually did get an early Christmas gift! I honestly was shocked to get the DHS email, followed by a USCIS text message alerting me to an action being taken on my case. Fingers crossed it wasn't an RFE, I logged in to find this beauty awaiting me.

497 days later from my NOA1, I finally made it...I really am at a loss for words. From my K1 visa that took 58 days to get my passport back when it was supposed to be 7-10 as I was told by an agent, to this process that used to take a few months that turned into 497 days, this has all been a test of my patience, I am just finally glad I can breathe a sigh of relief and now take my time on filing my N-400.

No idea on how long this will take to get in the mail, but if I have had this much patience already, a couple more weeks shouldn't be a problem.

To all of those still waiting, my heart goes out to you, it seriously does. I do not mean these as empty words as we have all been in this together. All the best to everyone else out there waiting. I am now off to update my timeline and the spreadsheet.

    Got approved yesterday!!
    WAC17291xxx (filed July 19th, I believe).
Had not filed for n400, the last status update before the approval was the vague "case received at local office" in February.
Biometrics had been waved previously and interview was not requested either.
So happy that it's finally official wishing everyone who is still waiting the very best and a speedy approval!

You have "your case was approved" and "your card was ordered" notifications ... that is a shout for celebration! Does it matter if the sites were updated? These sites seems to be notoriously late and out of whack .  Your card will be there soon.  Since I got my card, I have not bothered to check either site to see if updated or not.

Well... I just checked my case status online and I am a little bit lost :

Which one is the good one : the number linked to CRI-89 or the number linked to i-751 ? Because the first one say "case was received" (July 10th, 2017) and the other one says "case approved" today (November 2018).

I imagine de CRI-89 is about bio metric and i-751 is about my green card ? So, I imagine, I am done with that, haha !

    location : VSC
    Case received : July 10th, 2017
    Case approved: November 6th, 2018

no N-400, no RFE, no confirmation email.

With that, they say they received my case 11/5/18 and ordered my card 11/5/18

    Hello guys!

I just sent my i-751 file ten minutes ago... I am quite nervous since there is just one month left for me (8/7 is dead line, so exactly one month left ^^)... yeah, procrastination can be a curse sometime! ^^

It's seems this is a new game of patience, so let take time to know each other since we are on the same boat for one (?) year

In short: No, you haven't done anything wrong.

Take my situation for instance - I have been monitoring the InfoPass website for a couple of weeks now looking for an open appointment time and it was only this morning (by complete fluke that I was looking at 7 AM) that new slots opened up and became available.

Some offices (possibly yours included) seemingly rarely have any open time slots available, and when they do, they fill up fast. I know I was sitting on pins and needles hoping for an appointment to get my stamp, as my license is dependent upon the extension as well. When so much rides on that extension or getting an I-551 stamp, it becomes more than frustrating that offices never have appointments available.

Not that I would recommend it, but I have read about others even travelling out of state to less busy USCIS offices for an I-551 stamp; I'd only recommend doing that if you are getting dangerously close to your expiration date with no local appointments available.

Best of luck on getting an appointment.

Hey! My husband was in the same boat because Georgia gives you a driver's license that expires at the NOA date (7/10) not the green card expiration date (9/29). He went to the DMV office and explained and they are giving a 4 month Paper DL extension...so at least that is something! Maybe your state has the same thing? Hopefully we will all get an 18 month extension letter soon to replace our 12 month letters; I see some June 2017 filers have gotten theirs in the mail. The DMV lady also did let him know that the paper DL does not count for ID with the TSA if he has to fly.

Well I mean yes I understand the scepticism. But I can also see how someone from a more traditional society may have been in the closet for so long and now feels able to fully express himself. American men and women have done this too of course, suddenly come out after years of being married with kids.
i didn’t actually wonder so mich about the gay bit as about whether it is a green card marriage. Either way yes there will be scrutiny as to how genuine the relationship is.

something else to consider, assuming this is a genuine relationship and they manage to get married and the guy eventually is able to file for naturalization: he is going to have to show that he has continued to support his kids as part of showing good moral character. Do you know if he sends them money? And has a record of it?

Well if he'd file anything in your name then he'd need your signature. How is it possible that you're not sure if you filled anything or not though?

Try to talk to him and tell him to show you the paperwork he used?
Anyway you should try to contact the USCIS anyway and ask them about this.
