Big thumbs up on the loving way you put this.  So many leave harsh comments on here.  The OP seems to have a sweet soul and wants to help.  Something so rare in this day and age.  Bless you for being encouraging @NuestraUnion.

Nothing wrong with being unaware of related to immigration. The average American has no need for learning the immigration process.

Unfortunately, being a superb soccer player isn't a requirement for maintaining a visa unless it is a P1 visa. Find out as much as you can on what happened and keep us updated. We can provide you with help on options and/or next steps.

3 years is way too long for any student visa at a public high school.  There is a one year limit on the school and someone has to be paying the costs.  Are you talking a private high school ?  Where they refugees that maybe the petition was denied ?

Besides not having the select /delete option for notifications, my notifications appear unread when I have read them and read when I did not, all random. I use notifications all the time and am asking again to please restore the select/ delete option.

When I go to the Home page it looks like I am signed out because it says : sign in. When I then click on any other page
it recognizes me and I am no longer signed out. I wonder if it just says sign in and I was not actually logged out. I used to sign it
when this happened but now just go to any other page and it appears as I signed it with my user name in the upper right.

STILL waiting to get a response for a SELECT / DELETE for notifications. Why have umpteen pages of notification ?
    Please restore this option.

Correct. Again, this is assuming you meet the requirement to file for AOS, but I'm not going to assume or try to guess about circumstances you didn't state. The first page or so of the I-485 instruction lists who can and cannot file if you are interested.

Assuming you are eligible to file for AOS (nothing you said implies otherwise), once you file for AOS, the NOA1 acts of proof of your legal status within the US. It stays that way until your AOS is approved and you get a green card, or you get denied (in which case you are out of status).

Of course. But let's say if it were you in that situation? When a person is made to feel like they are a bad person or have done something wrong, they are also prone to be embarrassed, humiliated, and to feel as if the actions taken against them were unjust. The natural human response is to want to know what a government may or may not be accusing them of doing whether wrong or right. And who knows, there's been cases on here that sound like the CBP were being a little abusive you know? What happened if your name got on a no-fly list by mistake and you had to go through hell trying to find out why and how to get it off, knowing you might not be successful doing so.

Plenty of reasons, but it's more difficult for someone from a VWP nation to get one. By all accounts he would have been just fine on the VWP, and he wouldn't have been allowed to physically board if the ESTA was invalid or bad. So I can only assume somehow his name was on a no-fly - we don't know if it was wrong or right.
I haven't an honest clue why you feel the need to toss in a red herring like this or what that has to do with anything of this subject. If someone gets on the no-fly list for legit reasons then they shouldn't belong having a gun. BUT if a person is on a no-fly for no reason it seems like we don't have any fair system to challenge that, now do we? We should fix that, right? This man may have done absolutely nothing wrong. Now you can wave that away and make yourself feel more comfortable with what we have done to him, by saying it's within our rights to do so for whatever reason we decide to make up as a country - but does that make it fair, honest, and right? Shouldn't we have some sort of principles of respect and fairness? Shouldn't we admit and correct mistakes? And shouldn't those wrongly accused have an opportunity to clear their name?
It seems he was a school trip chaperon member perhaps to the trip to NYC. Don't think he should have required a visa.

If the name on your ticket, for example, didn't match your passport you would not have made it on the plane.

The guy was escorted off the plane. He got through security, everything was fine and then before take off he was removed. That wouldn't be for a simple "His name doesn't match".

    A few things:
By all accounts the individual's name IS Mohammad, but he is known as Juhel Miah. So before arguing about his name, we don't know what the name on his passport is. A Welshman, and well-respected math teacher at a local school. His visit was a part of a larger school trip to NYC. His family is Bangladesh in origin. See the BBC article regarding his name. Mr Miah, whose first name is Mohammed but is known as Juhel, was in charge of eight pupils at the time and said there were a total of 39 pupils and five members of staff on the trip. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-39037385
Given his age, race, religion, and destination I can imagine exactly what they were looking for. That doesn't make it right.
We know that we'll never know why the CBP/DHS choose to do what they do, and he'll never know why either.
Numerous articles state he had a valid visa. This annoys me to no end. We know the VWP requires no visa at all. So which is it? Did he have a visa or not? He says he had a ''visa valid until 2019'' or when he says that does he really mean an ESTA valid until 2019?
Other questions we don't know: did he answer his ESTA correctly and truthfully?
Had he traveled to any of the 7 nations before? He says he hasn't... BUT...
Had he traveled to any other nation not listed under the ESTA-ban?
Was his name wrongly on a no-fly list? Considering he was denied before the plane even took off, I'm suspicious about that.
    Was he banned or barred?
If he had an actual visa was it revoked?
Can he apply for a visa and make it in?
Does he have any known associates, friends, or family in the US?
We know that even a straight up classic English white guy on the VWP always has the chance of getting denied at the border. But I don't think that they are often barred from being on the flight to begin with. Nothing ever 100% grants you the right to enter. The same thing has happened to Americans entering the UK.

I think the reasons are obvious. His name was Mohammad, and in some alternative-fact reality he posed a threat to national security.

US law says every visitor visa applicant is an intending immigrant. Up to the applicant to prove s\he will return back. A 22-yr old Ukrainian likely has little ties to home. She applies and finds out.
