It is Wednesday, time for our Semiweekly Semiofficial VAWA-Thread Joke:
    =======================================
    JOKES

Two muffins were sitting in an oven.  One turned to the other and said, "Wow -- it's pretty hot in here."
The other one shouted, "Wow!  A talking muffin!"

I sold my vacuum the other day.  All it was doing was collecting dust.

I just learned that I'm colorblind.  The news came completely out of the green!

    I became a vegetarian.  A huge missed-steak!

Why do eggs hate jokes?  The answers crack them up!

I have a great joke about construction, but I'm still working on it.

Hi, sorry you are in that situation. I went through similar stuff. I dont think it's beneficial to communicate with him in general from now on and just file taxes on your own (separately). You may ended up paying something back, however you can attach this to your case if you have enough evidence to prove marriage in a good faith without filing jointly .

They are not supposed to ask about the abuse but some officers do. They will mostly ask about your life after you left the marriage. If you have ever traveled outside US, kids, work, where you live and who you leave with. If you are divorced, if not they'll ask why not. Last time you had contact with your Ex and what it was all about. They can ask weather you have started the divorce process. They can ask the same question in many different ways so pay attention to that.

    A LAWYER'S PRIORITIES

A lawyer who had just bought a new car was eager to show it off to his colleagues.  All of a sudden, an 18-wheeler came out of nowhere and took off the driver's side door as he stood right there.

"NO-O-O!" he screamed, because he knew that no matter how hard a mechanic tried to fix it, it never would be the same.

A policeman came by, and the lawyer ran up to him, yelling, "My BMW's door was just ruined by some foolish driver!"

"You're a lawyer, aren't you?" asked the policeman.

"Yes, I am.  But what does this have to do with my car?" the lawyer asked.

"Ha!" the policeman said.  "You lawyers are always so materialistic.  All that you care about are your possessions.  I bet you didn't even notice that your left arm is missing."

The lawyer looked down at his side and exclaimed, "Oh, no -- my BMW, and now my Rolex!!!"

I am a silent reader in this forum . This forum is more powerful than even hiring a lawyer . I have a lawyer but I gathered all my knowledge here by reading through all the threads and I just want to say a big Thank You to @Stillwinning!!!😊 @sandraj and all the other guys who always chimed in to educate us all on this forum. My journey started in 2019 and it was one of the hardest and most devastated year of my life but with God and you guys I was able to find some strength to do this. I’m a oct 2019 filer and I got my first RFE august 2021and I was so frustrated and depressed all over again with sleepless nights etc but today God showed up and I got a notification for my I 360 that a new card is being produced . I cried with a sense of relief that finally they approved my case . For all of you guys waiting for your case to be adjudicated don’t lose hope just believe in God and take advice from all the educated people on this forum . It’s worth it than even hiring a lawyer . Again Thank you , Thank you all and God’s richest blessings 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Been there, done that. Rest assured, you’re not alone. My darkest moments were talking about the abuse in therapy and during the psychological examination/ evaluation. The entire process from a-z is a conducted tour of hell.
Eventually, we move on and someday somewhere it will all make sense. We wouldn’t know joy without sorrow and hardship. I’m in no way justifying abuse. I just want you to know that you will be okay. Everything will turn out great. Focus on yourself:)
Feel free to DM me if you want to talk.

Based on my experience and what I read here, they might want to describe:
    1. How do they know you/your spouse
    2. Whether they have visited you at your residence. If so, what activities did all of you engage in, how did your house/apartment look like (furniture, how many rooms etc.)
    3. How did you and your spouse behave out in public? Were you holding hands? Hugging/kissing/arguing/joking etc? Was he/she respectful/nice to you? Was he/she rude/inappropriate?
    4. Did you and your spouse share details about your courtship/plans for the future with your friends? F.e. Maybe you wanted to get a dog/cat/kid/new car/house together and told your friends about it?
    5. Did they notice any “red flags”? Any changes in your/spouses behavior? Did they witness any abuse?

basically, your friends need to describe your relationship, your love story and your relationship issues ( if they have noticed Sth obviously) in details. A lot of details.

    Hi Community,

My I-485 got approved today without interview and I wanted to thank all of you who gave me pieces of advise and information during this VAWA journey.
I wanted to share my timeline and advise for those who currently is surfing through here and looking for info:

    August 25, 2018 - US Entry on a K-1 Visa
    September 14, 2018 - Marriage
    September 28, 2018 - I-485 Application (together with EAD+AP)
    October 2, 2018 - NOA 1 I-485 (biometrics took place 3 weeks later)
    January 2019 - EAP+AP approved
    April 2019 - Divorce
April 24, 2019 - I-360 Application (applied with a lawyer, but moving forward acted on my own without lawyer's help)
September 2019 - Sent in more evidence on my own by reading this forum (I think my lawyer didn't include those docs on purpose in order to get RFE and charge me more). Please note that I sent in more evidence on my own without receiving a request for it twice total (once divorce paperwok and another time police clearances and my birth certificate).
3 times extended EAD + AP while waiting for I360 decision based on still pending I485.
    May 24, 2021 - I360 Case Was Approved
August 2021 - I485 Request for updated medicals (my original medicals expired 1 months prior to this request)
September 27, 2021 - I485 Approval (Card being Produced status)

To all of you who is reading - I think very important for you to know that you are allowed to submit evidence for your I360 case (if you think your case is missing something) on your own without a lawyer. I only used an attorney in the first place because I didn't know about VAWA at all and I needed urgent help. But after reading this forum even the attorney I worked with was telling me that I know too much and I could do it on my own, etc. After I read the case she prepared I found that there were multiple mistakes made with names of people, facts, dates etc etc (I had to send another letter to Vermont to just correct her mistakes) and also some docs needed for this case were missing, which I think my attorney didn't put there on purpose. Those docs are required for a decision on I360 for sure. So by not including it my attorney planned to get an RFE...and her contract with me would oblige me for another $1000 to reply to an RFE. So when I started reading this forum I took this under my complete control and figured that my attorney is acting against my best interest. Another GREAT piece to this story is that my attorney assistant once called me and said that the attorney is not honest and that she purposely is not doing things I asked her to do, purposely missed docs, purposely was not even providing me the copy of my case for a few weeks...and her assistant actually recommended me to report her to the board of attorneys which I didn't do yet, but I will now that my cases are all done and I do not need her anymore for anything at all. But yeah people please be careful with attorneys please - mine was basically trying to suck the moneys out without providing the best service possible.
Luckily for me from the beginning I refused to add my attorney to my I485 case and once I360 was approved we kind of are done already.

Summary: I485 took 3 years exactly and I360 took 2 years and 1 month.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, you will get there soon!

USCIS removed the processing time for I360 from their website for weeks now. How do we know that the case is outside processing time for us to contact the senator or representative?

On September 13, 2021, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SRxxxxxxxxxxxVSC, was completed.

I made my inquiry September 1. It was about EAD, hope to have it on hand soon.

Hello all! I just ended a conversation with tier officer 1 for a potential infopass appointment.
I would request a “speed up” according to what suggested on my c31 ead card.( Attached here)
I also mentioned to the tier officer 1 that the reason of the request would be financial. I have a company and several almost-signed-contracts has been paused by clients because of my impossibility of traveling to their locations.
Does anyone have experience in receiving a call from them? Does this happen for real in 72 hours? And how longwould be the wait for an appointment? Days? Weeks? Months?

Also, I received today notification that my case is officially approved!!!!! AFTER 14 days from my card being produced. Super happy!
For whom is still waiting... It's not easy, I, myself, waited 33 months! Stay focus and don't lose hope. Come here and find comfort. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
