Well said and I totally agree.
The poor guy feels awful for doing the right thing... why? Because you are making him feel that way.
Try to give him a break. He should NOT feel foolish in the slightest. Yes you are disappointed you have to wait... but seriously in the overall scheme of things this is just a bump in the road. Remember you love him and why you love him. Love doesn't blame.

Some people just couldn't bear to LIE, no matter how much you "coach" them into it. At least he was honest and a man enough to admit what he truly did.

Seriously? You're annoyed at him for telling the TRUTH instead of being just another person who lies? Yes, you will need to wait longer but you shouldn't be angry with him for telling the truth! He is SUPPOSED to tell the truth!
Jesus. I know you're upset right now but you're being very nasty to him. I'm sure he's upset too, but you should be proud he is a trustworthy person.
It WILL be okay. He isn't locked out of the country. You will still be together eventually. Focus on the positives.

Sorry about that. If I recollect correctly from other JA filers, weed is an automatic 1 year ban. Please wait until other JA folks can chime in though.

I don't think anyone is being negative, just realistic.
Everyone just wants to make sure you are aware of all the possibilities so you don't get your hopes up too much and then be extremely depressed when it doesn't go as planned. I know I would have been much better off if I knew how things really worked at the USCIS level but I didn't find the help here until after the fact.
Best idea is to stay positive, hope for the best, keep on track and if it all works out like you want/hope then AWESOME! But if they wind up telling you to wait longer or don't help you in the way you expect you have some idea what to expect overall based on the info you received here.
Best of luck on your journey!

Yes, it happens a lot these days, nothing to worry about. It does mean there is a possibility the petitioner may be interviewed before the I-130 will be approved.

    You have big problems.
A false claim of US citizenship is close to being the worst non-violent thing an alien can do. It makes you immediately deportable and there is no waiver available for it.
The fact that you did this eight years ago in 2005 makes it extremely difficult to pass this off as a mistake. A mistake would be, noticing it happened when you did it or shortly afterwards and then having your name removed from the electoral roll immediately, not waiting eight years until you were about to apply for citizenship to do so.
Consult with a fantastic lawyer, but since there is no waiver available then I doubt there is much they can do for you, however it never hurts to ask.

That you never voted does not make the offense any less severe. It is not the act of voting that creates the issue so much as the fact you misrepresented yourself when you registered to vote.
Before the law, you have not 'accidentally' registered. It was deliberate, regardless of how it happened, even if you mean you did not read what you signed. Still, you signed it.
There is no requirement or presumption by the law that LPRs become citizen, which means you can keep your residence in the US as a LPR for as long as you are compliant with the conditions. Citizenship is a privilege, not a right.
If you want to seek naturalization, IMHO consider speaking to an immigration lawyer so that you can be counseled on your particular situation.
I wish you success & good luck!

How many total days did you spend outside of the United States during the past five years? Zero
How many trips of 24 hours or more have you taken outside of the United States during the past five years? None
Now this next question is tricky because it states since becoming a LPR, are they serious about going back 30 years?
List below all the trips of 24 hours or more that you have taken outside of the United States since becoming a Lawful
Permanent Resident. Begin with your most recent trip. If you need more space, use a separate sheet(s) of paper.
But was written by that Cuban refugee that was made director of the USCIS by Bush, these questions confuse many people. But you are not required to have a passport, and from the sounds of it, never made trips after becoming a LPR, so just type in N/A in those columns. Leaving this country with the military does not count with trips. Many have either lost their passports or were long expired without problems. These questions are primarily for residency requirements, like becoming a LPR less than five years ago, and being out of the country for most of that time.
Is the part you should be concerned about, hope not a dishonorable discharge. This may require some explaining.

One post violating TOS - personal attack - has been removed.
After reviewing this thread I find that the original question has been answered - and the discussion has derailed, both in content and in courtesy. As it seems unlikely that further discussion will bring any additional enlightenment on the topic and is more likely to bring additional discord and personal attacks, I am closing this thread to further discussion.

You don't have tourist visa. You have humanitarian parole. You aren't admitted to the US. If you have it all figured out then why bother posting on here and laughing at people when they don't agree with you. Really bad attitude.

Thanks for the cliff notes summary. Nice post. I feel the same way.
And to add, I think my hubby has been reading all of the contents that I have posted and commented on. It was cute that he sent me a reassuring message today informing me NOT to worry about halal meat anymore because he googled that Southern California has many Muslim markets area because there is a big Muslim community here. So we will definitely get a variety of halal products.

The alcohol and fermentation that has started in ripe fruit can be considered the beginning of wine, one ingredient - but it is not wine - it is not the same as the alcohol God forbids.
Making wine requires a process. This includes additives - one being yeast. After the processing is complete and the yeasts are done doing their thing, the juice from the fruit juice is considered wine. The sugar that was in the juice is no longer there — it is then the alcohol God forbids.

You constantly put down people that are trying to have a conversation here. Your comment about his reading implies he is stupid and this is offensive to those of us that would like to have a civil conversation. You don't know him or his reading comprehension. Why can't you just state your point without the rudeness? You could have made the exact same point without the entire first sentence, congrats.
As the resident science skeptic please tell me - has science proved without a doubt there is a God? No. Yet you believe. Can science prove there is only ONE God? No. Yet you believe. And one day it will be proven... on judgement day. Just because the science done so far does not meet your standards of proof does not mean something isn't true. Science is discovering all the time things that were never known, or that there were mistakes made in original beliefs. This covers your cat question too. Some of us are satisfied with what science has shown us to date, yet all of us are in agreement God says no pork. The reason really doesn't matter. Everyone believe what we will.
The bottom line in my defense for everything that I have said, and I believe Salim82 has been expressing is the God does everything for a reason. He has created everything for a reason. Only he truly knows everything. When God said no pork for example, he did so with specific reason, I find it hard to believe he has something against the very animal he created to help clean the earth.
I don't see where Salim82 said you can't get sick from eating other halal foods. He was discussing the topic of pork - which was the original debate, not all halal foods.
