  1. :help: is there other way were we don't need to show my fiance's social security number during the interview????

block his ssn in the forms? does the USEM really need to check/see his social security number???

we just want to be very careful to prevent identity theft.

pls help... interview is coming soon :bonk:

have your US Citizen subscribe to a service (Equifax, Lifelock,etc..) to lock his SSN number and have fraud alerts put on his file. It's a very effective means to deter fraud use.

Everyone has to submit SSN numbers on K1 applications which go to NVC and Embassy. It's part of the process. You have a valid concern, but, as a consumer, you can

take some action to mitigate the risk.

  2. In high school, I worked in fast food. congrats on your job! It will be fast paced, but, you will learn very quickly. Fast food work is very process oriented, meaning same routine over and over. Once you have it down, you will be fine.

A job is a job, and a starting point to be successful. Wish you the best on your first endeavor in USA.. best

  3. Very large companies DONT specialize in IT usually outsource their IT internal projects to third party consulting firms i.e. IBM, Booz Allen, PWC. I consult for one of the largest banks in the USA, and most of the works is by contractors who charge around $250 per hour.

If you want to make a good living by that i mean over 100K a year, go to college and get a degree in Computer Science, and get some specialization such oracle, development or networking and if you are a US Citizen, try to work for a govt contractor and get a clearance which is a golden ticket for job growth

  4. I love how impatient Americans are. And how they think. "I've got more money than him, so I shouldn't have to wait as long". That's the kind of thinking that's turning our country into a pit of despair. Get over yourself and wait in line like everyone else. Or better yet, move to their country, if you can afford to throw money around.

Sorry u feel that way. But if you live in the USA, get used to it. It's not being impatient. It's about having CHOICES in life. There's a reason why millions of people around the world want to leave their HOMELANDS and come here? Because USA is such an impatient and ruthless country? No, it's because you can come here with few hundred dollars in your pocket. Work hard and become something. It's called a democratic market economy where your value is determined by your level of work. Simple concept.

I have been living here since age of 5 and my parents came here without much. And through hard work, my parents are comfortably retired now. My finished my master's from ivy league, and have a very good job and because of hard work. So I know what I am talking about. So if I want to have choices in life to get something faster and pay for it, then, why do you have a problem w/ that?

    .

  5. I'm not an American (YET), but here of my some curiosities:

Well I have been in the USA since the age of five, and I am one of those people who does his research to understand the issues so i can hopefully help people:

    • Already US Citizens can have their passport renewals expedited for a higher fee.---> Is that government handled it? I'm sorry, but in my country, if you can processing faster and paid more that regular fee, it is illegal and consider a bribe. So, I don't know about in US. I've never been there yet.

Go online and please read about this.. you can have faster passport service. It's called EXPEDITED for those prefer this service.

    • US Citizens can also can a premium for expedited US Government postal service if desired. (Overnight, 2 day, etc..)----> is it official tariffs or people can asked by request? I hate when sent my gifts to my fiance and it says would arrived in certain times but it did not.

Go to USPS.gov and research. One day delivery and Overnight are optional services for those prefer and can afford it.

    • US Citizens also pay for boarding express highway lanes during rush hours to move faster. (Hot-lanes in Virginia, Maryland) Different than HOV lanes --- Is it operated by government or company? I said, that there is a different between government and company how they operated their own system. Government best known for their bureaucracy. My fiance works for US government.

Go to VDOT and read about hot lanes.

    • Point being. America is driven by capitalism, and market economy. ---->I agreed with that. My fiance told me companies there are love to charge everything.

Correct. This is the USA. It's market driven..

    • Government understands this. If there is a demand for such a service, it mean government can charge accordingly to handle overhead costs and provide a quicker processing time for applicants they may do this in the future ---> I know it is economic teory, but again, if people can do that in future, whoever has a lot money, whether it is fraud applications or not, their application would going faster than others. What about someone who truly genuinely for this process or in love each other and doesn't have enough money? They would say different from yours, I bet.

You miss the point entirely. Are there fraud passports being mailed out? Are their fraudulent packages being delivered? Answer is No.

There are measures in place to detect fraud. The same procedures for normal wait time apply to expedited service. Only difference you have more people reviewing the expedited application so it can get through FASTER.

The reason you have to wait 5 months to get K1 approved is the volume of applications and available manpower. The vetting out process remains the same..

  6. Anurag,

Stay focused, it's a down period right now, but, you are a qualified and bright guy. Things will turn around. In the short-term, I would suggest picking up a part-time or full time position to get yourself back in the workforce, be in, regional bank or something, and gain some USA work experience on your resume. I agree, many interviewers don't like long gaps between employment. Take some accreditation in a local community college i.e. P.M.P which looks good w/ MBA. Will open doors.

Also, I know for a FACT ,Dallas is full of highly educated desi people who have networking events for IT, business and law. Go online on linkedin and find out about indian business socials / happy hours in Dallas, and start mingling. Create a good network of business contacts, have new business cards made , or electronic online resume to market yourself.

    All the best, bro..

  7. Hi All !! This is really a sad story now. When we decided to be together here in US, everything seems so good and we were happy. We were confident that with my degrees ( Bachelors in Accounting & MBA (Finance) ) from India and more then 5 years of experience working for different American companies in India (Through consulting and outsourcing) I will find something in US. So I landed here in June, got my EAD in August and green card in october. Since september I have gone all out looking for a job, met all the recruiters, have been interviewed by like 4 different organizations...but all in vain. No Success... Many recruiters have even stopped answering my calls. Never felt so unwanted and sad... All this is causing so much stress for both of us... at times both of us cry (but dont show to each other). We thought of this as a wonderful dream come true to be together after all that hard work and pain of immigration process but now I feel I am in a deep dark tunnel and there is no end to it. Thinking of leaving US now but she can't because she is still doing her graduation. Brings tears to my eyes when I look at her innocent face and the situation we are in :-( .... very very very tough life now. Please advise what should I do. Any help will be appreciated.

    Anurag,

With a MBA and 5 yrs working with a US Company in India, plus green card.. my question is where are u interviewing? And how did your interviews go? Not to sound mean, but, alot of jobs requiring MBA w/ professional exp. are about relationships and selling yourself at the interview. They want to know more about YOU and less about your educational path. I have the same problem you are encountering w/ Indian IT guys coming here and having difficulties. Have your resume critiqued by a professional, they are very helpful. Go to free interviewing sessions at local colleges or practice interviewing .. Reason I say this is the corporate HR culture is vastly different here vs. India. Find out what you may be lacking in the interview process and possibly get recommendations on improving.. All the best..

  8. Already US Citizens can have their passport renewals expedited for a higher fee.

US Citizens can also can a premium for expedited US Government postal service if desired. (Overnight, 2 day, etc..)

US Citizens also pay for boarding express highway lanes during rush hours to move faster. (Hot-lanes in Virginia, Maryland) Different than HOV lanes.

People pay for business and first class airline tickets over coach. Why? Because they can.. simple.

Point being. America is driven by capitalism, and market economy. Government understands this. If there is a demand for such a service, it mean government can charge accordingly to handle overhead costs

and provide a quicker processing time for applicants they may do this in the future. But the process of vetting out applications will require additional staff i.e. money.

I would personally pay up to $2000 for a one month guaranteed processing of K1. BUT in return, I think I-129F application for expedited applicants would be required to fill out additional waiver

indicating that if application is flawed with errors due to incorrectly submitted application, and RFEs required, then, guarantee processing time is voided.

  9. I am wanting to know if me having a recent felony conviction (agg battery) will have any affect on my fiances K1 application. I am currently appealing the conviction & I do expect to win, but I'd like to be prepared just in case I don't. Thanks for the help.

I also forgot to include that I am on house arrest for another year & still have about 12 years of probation if I do not win my appeal. Thanks

Probably will trigger a RFE and further investigation into your background. Like others said talk to a lawyer.

  10. My finance just send her packet 3.5 to embassy. Should be getting interview by end of next week..

I have been very impressed w/ the VSC > NVC > Embassy processing of the application..

There is no one standard for dates and processing time. There are ALOT of variables

    1. Where is your fiancee located?

    2. Application Completeness?

    3. Past history w/ country where financee is located?

    4. Security checking

    Good luck to all..

  11. http://www.city-of-b...krainian-wives/

Really?? If you want to find true love i wouldn´t go on such pages. Same with phillipines. Maybe its just something i don´t understand but in my opinion u can´t be surprised if they are just after the greencard...Why would they talk to american guys then??

I can not understand ppl are looking for this and then complaining about the process. i dont even know how many night in my life i cried and was wishing i was in love with someone from my country...but i guess now i know what "wifeshopping" is, i read about it on here. Maybe i am just to naive to understand all this :)

but back to topic.......:-).i also think it shouldnt be a problem. Seems like it worked for a lot of ppl already! Good luck!

    OMG. you read my mind

  12. My ex fiancee did not show up for her interview on september, and did not even explain her reason for not showing up. To the point of not even answering my calls. When i did talk to her, she said she's not ready to get married. And later found out from her cousin that she cheated on me with another guy. I'm devastated right now after all the time, money, and sacrifices i went through for her. What should i do now? I have no intentions of getting back with her, but i'm concerned of a future fiancee visa petition if i do finally find the right woman in my life.. Need help! Advice! Thank you!

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Terrible to hear such a thing happened to you. Hopefully next time, you will find sometime in USA and avoid the trials and tribulations of K1 process. All the best!!

  13. Here is a shocker , its 21 years difference between me and my wife and i adore her and we have a boy together and will have more soon , but am not a naive neither she is seeking a younger man , she is a very respectful polite lovely wise woman and thats why i married her....watch your words...not everyone thinks your way.

Irrespective of what I think, it's what the examiners will look at. You have to put yourself in the shoes of the interviewer and look at the totality of the case. If it makes sense and he can prove the relationship is legit, he will get approved. But it will raise more flags than usual K1 petition..

  14. I don't see anything wrong with that. She is 21, she is mature, you love her and she loves you; that's what matters. Some people might not like the idea, based on their own personal believes and cultures, but who cares. They don't pay your rent nor put food on your table; they have no right to judge you. It's your life, marry her, be happy and make her happy. Good luck

First of all , this is a public forum. If someone can't handle an opinion to a topic which they are seeking advice, shouldn't be asked. Criticism is not a bad thing, but it makes someone realize a different perspective. The USCIS examiners always assume each application has a potential fraud case because they are trained to look for that. If they didn't, K1 visa process would be 1 week long, piece of cake, no worries. BUT its NOT, because US government wants some level of assurance sure that marriages wont be shams and girls coming here aren't being exploited or victimized.

Now, to the gentlemen who posted the question.

Correct. It is his life and his fiance's decision. But his question asked, will this raise a flag in the eyes of USCIS, and I would have to say it certainly will. Regardless of where the girl is coming from, she will be living in the USA under the norms of this country, where it's not normal for a girl of such an age to marry a gentleman of his age. When the K1 application is looked at and such an age disparity is given, more scrutiny will be placed and questions raised.

My advice to the gentleman. I hope he has a bulletproof petition with several trips to his fiancee, pictures with her family and letters of intent attesting to the relationship. Good luck to him
