  1. I have our congressman working on it (has been since November) but unfortunately there isn't much they can do except make inquiries... they can't speed it up. Unless there is something we don't know about... how long ago was this?

2yrs ago. my aunt lives in Lahore, her initial petition for a US tourist visa rejected. She was 61yrs old, widow, and no reason to be rejected. So I emailed my congressman, and made the case for her visa. So, his office looked into the matter, called the Lahore Consulate and asked why was denied. They promptly called her back for another interview and it was granted. So, I guess i lucked out, but, really depends on who your congressman is, and how interested they are in helping you.

  2. Folks, those of you waiting for months should contact your local congressman for assistance..i know from past experience they can help out especially if u are a registered voter and have history of voting for their party.. My visa for my aunt was.denied in pakistan, then I called and wrote to my congressmean and appealed and an official request to the embassy in lahore to expediate the visa and was approved. Pretty sure the could apply for k1 or spousal visa

  3. Hi VJ members,

Just want to decrease my anxiety level by relating to someone who's had a similar experience as us. My k1 petition has actually been processed without any impediments untill the actual interview done in December 2011. My fiance was not granted a visa on spot, but was told that they will be in contact with me because they needed more "evidence to substantiate our relationship." In other words they have reason to believe that our relationship might be FAKE. This was a big blow to myself and my fiance, because we thought all was well and we had already started planning our wedding.I was devastated when I got the terrible news from my fiance. I have e-mailed the consulate on several occasion but to no avail, I have yet to hear of a visa approval. Last time I checked the Vermont Service Center, they did not receive the petition from the Jamaican Embassy. :(:(

    :help::help::help:

First course of action is to provide the US Embassy in the foreign country all the supporting evidence and make sure they receive it. Have you done that yet?

Your fiance was put on administrative processing review. This means the embassy is waiting for you and your fiancee to send them additional proof of your relationship.

    You need to send them

-Photos of you two together and with family members

-Airplane tickets to visit him (vice versa)

    -Skype chat logs

    -Email logs

I would HIGHLY recommend you send the requested information to them soon, because the embassy will not provide an update or answer until they receive that information. Also, it does no good contact Vermont Service Center, it's beyond their control once it reaches the embassy level. You will need to contact the US State Department and they can provide you updates on the case. You need to give them the Case Number, Name of Beneficiary .

    Good luck

  4. Thanks so much for your responses! I think it is a great point to have the 2011 tax returns available if needed. As Winning23 stated I am waiting for many documents in the mail before I can actually file. I have more than just the W2 that has to come to me. I have some forms from my schooling and some other investments. I will do my best to file BEFORE Feb 23rd (Usually I have been able to do this at the beginning of February in past years). I can always email the .pdf version of my tax return to Usman to print out. I actually make well over the poverty line and have done so for the past 5 years so I am not much too worried about that.. So since they are asking Mohsin for 2011 I will do my best to make sure Usman has it too. I had intended on being there for his interview but since I made the trip over the holidays to see him he is going to have to go to it without me. So, I just want to make sure Usman is prepared for any question they can throw at him.

What about other evidences for our relationship proof. I feel like we are a little light on that end. Or am I worrying for nothing?

Each and every case is unique i.e. income levels, dependents, etc.. so embassy can question and be pretty stringent based on these qualifiers. If you can complete your 2011 taxes by end of Feb, and provide this info for the interview, that would great. But if your earning is well above minimum levels, I really don't think you have anything to worry about and past 3 yrs yr returns are fine.

The evidence of relationship, I would recommend as many photos of you and your fiancee meeting with family members (within two years), Skype chat logs. Gmail chat also has log history available. Calling card companies which provide PINs, call their customer service request history of calls on the calling card, and email that to you.

Main thing for your beneficiary is to over-provide with good evidence, rather than them questioning the relationship. I think for pakistani men, unfortunately, it's just a tough situation because US government is pretty strict on background checking, making sure the relationship is real, and going alot of due diligence before issuing the k1 visas. Just a fact we have to deal with in this day and age.

  5. My wife was approved back in December and will go through POE on February 5th (yay!). On January 20th I will be moving apartments, so that when she goes through POE she will be giving a different destination address than was on her paperwork up to this point. Is there anything we need to do now or be aware of? Or does this have no effect at all? I will be with her at the POE.

Check the original application you filled out. There is a section on Change of Address mentioned. Who to contact and when.

It's very important to make sure immigration officials know the correct address to avoid delays. Secondly, go online to USPS and do a change of address in your name and her name, and its

    effective immediately.

  6. Just to clarify, you can the DOS Monday - Friday 8am - midnight.

    202-663-1225

    Option 1

    Option 3

    Option 4

    Then, enter 0

They will ask Beneficiary Name, DOB. They may also ask what is the last status you received on the case.

The DOS has access to embassy decisions immediately can provide that to you. It's a waste of time calling or emailing the islamabad embassy directly. Also, there is also no link to track AP cases for Islamabad. Maybe for other countries but definitely not for Pakistan.

If you happen to get on AP, the best thing to do to provide exactly what the embassy wants in a timely matter and cross your fingers and wait patiently. Unfortunately the fastest path I know.

  7. Winnings, I know that the 3yrs u mention should b enough, but there is no telling wht the embassy will decide to ask u for thats y i was advising Kim to send that to her fiance, Mohsin had his interview in Nov,and early December, the embassy called him and told him that they need 2011 tax papers, he told them that wouldnt b available untill later in 2012, they said to him we will wait,, they already had 2008,2009 and 2010 from myself and co-sponsor,, i did manage to obtain 2011 tax papers, but I had to go into the IRS office and get it done,, As for Kim she can have that cuz all she have to do id file early, their interview is at the end of the Feb,,my advise is for them to have that handy, to avoid delays.

    Mohsin,

Actually the embassy does have the right to ask for tax returns dating back more than 3 yrs only if it's deemed the petitioner's financial responsibility may be questionable in terms solid income history, funds. As long as income level of the petitioner is over the required for example $35,000 year or above, then, the 3 yrs of taxes is fine. When the income levels are bordering the minimum or below, which I don't recall the exact income, then, they have to make sure and check the income history ( 4 yrs ) and make sure the average weights more than minimum requirement. Even then, the embassy will likely scrutinize the application process.

If the K1 interview will be in February or March, then, yes, it would be great to provide a completed 2011 Tax return as evidence especially, if the petitioner's income went up so prove a more solid case.

  8. From reading forum posts regarding Nigerian K1 rejections, that is one TOUGH embassy.

Seriously, if the couple haven't met, don't waste the time, money and energy into filing because it's a lost cause

If a couple are truly serious about marriage, and traveling to meet each other is most elementary element of their commitment, and

unless there is a compelling reason why the two can't meet, I don't see how the K1 would get approved.

  9. hi everyone. i'm unemployed. i've pretty much been unemployed my whole life. (I do my own thing ) odd jobs and all sorts of buying and selling stuff on ebay etc, before you get the wrong idea i have never been on welfare nor will i ever be on welfare. I'm also an older student at the moment

I pay $170 a month in child support for one child. My house is paid for. I have about $20,000 under my matress.

I'm going to the Philippines i'm booked for valentines day in Philippines. Now when i see my lady i don't want to make a promise to her if I can't do it.

I pay $170 a month in child support for one child. My house is paid for. I have about $20,000 in under my bed. My mother said she will be my co sponsor.

Will this work. Is there a bond i could put up for the 3 years required of financial responsibility??

    thank you.

As a US Citizen, regardless of your income, or how you have earned a living, you must provide tax transcripts, else, you come off as looking like a tax invader. If you have cash on hand, i would recommend depositing that in an non-interest bearing account, to show you as a petitioner have some finances in your name / SSN.

Hopefully your mom has filed her taxes each year and meets the threshold for minimum earning and she is willing to document her income / job to help you out

    Good luck

  10. I'm self-employed, how do I go about writing a letter that verify my job and how much I make? Does anyone know? Should I include copy of my business license, business permit? certificate? Etc.???

Tax Transcripts from IRS verifying your Business income, with your EIN number on transcripts, proving you have a business and you have earning and pay taxes. Simple.

  11. It may be very difficult to ascertain 2011 TAX papers at his time in January, simply, no banks, employers or investment firms provide the 1099R, w2 so early in the year. You will need to wait at a minimum end of January / early Feb to collect all papers and file your 2011 returns. Then, it would make sense to provide this info. to the embassy, else, having 2010,2009 and 2008 IRS transcripts from IRS would suffice.

  12. ok can any one give me any advice?? :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

First and firstmost, I am terribly sorry you are going through this ordeal w/ your spouse. Secondly, do you any American friends who are in contact with? I mean close friends. If so, confide in them and ask them to help you get you legal advice. If you have proof and he has admitted he cheated on you, then, I think you have a valid claim on your side for continuation of the green card process. I am no lawyer, but, definately you can call an immigration attorney at find out some options.

  13. Guys,

My fiancee got approved today. Very thankful to almighty for this wonderful day.. She interviewed on December 19, but put on AP. Exactly 3 wks later, she got approved.

To all on AP, hang in there, it just takes some time. Have faith and be strong.

I was called State Department phone number here in Washington DC each day. They can provide latest status to your K1 / or other types of cases in PK or any other country.

    Best of luck to all,

  14. i hope so.. we have met 3 times PRIOR to submitting the K1.. she came here twice.. me there once.. :)

just hoping for a smooth process :)

    skiptex,

i agree. I think u are well prepared. Most important thing, make a copy of all originals.

    For evidence of support,

    1. very easy to get IRS Tax transcripts online ( 2 or 3yrs).

    2. Letter of Account Verification From your Bank

    3. Employment Letter verifying your employment with salary and start date.

    4. If u have 401K or investment accounts/stocks/ IRA/ never hurts to show.

Most people of the forum somehow neglect one these documents.. so highly recommend you have these attached to your evidence of support

Other than that, i think u should be all set.

    Best of luck.

  15. Moshin,

I would recommend your fiancee in USA get a family member to co-sponsor immediately. Because the US Immigration is wanting to make she can financially sponsor you. If she hasn't been working for 4 years, that's a huge red flag and 100% resulting in AP. Embassy wants to know, how she supports herself (income, savings, mortgage,etc..). In terms of taxes,as a US Citizen, regardless of her income, she must have filed tax returns. That's the reason the embassy is requesting them. The 1040EZ form is the simple tax return for single, one-income earners in the USA. It's the very basic form for US Citizens without mortgage deductions, or businesses.

Good luck.. will try to answer to your questions..

  16. Depends how busy embassy is . My case completed on nov 16 and I got interview date jan31. It took almost 2 weeks to schedule my interview

K1 experience. After submitting paperwork to Embassy. My fiancee's interview date was announced 3 wks later.. This is normal from what I hear. embassy

has to check police certificates, and submitted paperwork for accuracy, and verify completion. Plus her papers were submitted right before Eid and last week

was thanksgiving break at US Embassy.. so i am pretty satisfied w/ response time.
