  1. Hi everyone,

I'm filing for AOS for my mom and the application and fees was just returned due to a missing page :bonk: (ONE page out of so many... The face palms I've given myself... Sigh...).

    My question is:

    Should I:

    1. send a new I-130 application, along with the old supplementary applications and the I-797C's that were attached,
    2. resend the old I-130 application with the missing page, along with the old supplementary applications and the I-797C's that were attached,
    3. send an entire new application with new supporting applications, or
    4. Something else

The other forms and supporting docs had NOA's stapled to the front with the notation that the principal application was returned. They stamped all the pages of the forms I sent, along with the checks, and they even returned the envelope I sent the whole package in.

Thanks for reading, and for your help.

when applying to N-400 ,naturalization under VAWA,what documents you need to add to your application?Do you need to send 2 photos?if u get fingerprint can you do it earlier than the day specified on the letter?

Here's a copy of my cover letter below listing the documents I included with my application. I just completed my naturalization last month. You do need 2 passport photographs, and depending on your local ASC(fingerprinting office), you can usually do a early walk-in for biometrics. I did.

    Dear USCIS Examiner:

Please find enclosed my N400 Application for Naturalization and supporting documents. Also, please also find a completed form G-1450 authorizing payment in the amount of $680 ($595 application fee, plus $85 biometrics fee). I am eligible for Naturalization based on an approved I-360 under section INA 319(a).

Enclosed also please find the following documents:

    1. A completed form G-1145 – e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

    1. A completed form G-1450 – Authorization for Credit Card Transactions

    1. My completed form N400.

    1. Attached USCIS Memoranda ‘Regarding the Expanded Meaning of Section 319(a) and ‘Clarification of Classes of Applicants Eligible for Naturalization Under Section 319(a).

    1. Form I797 notice of action (approved I360 notice)

    1. Form I797 notice of action (I485 approved notice)

    1. Copy of Birth certificate

    1. Copy of both sides of my Permanent Resident Card

    1. Two identical color photos.

    1. A copy of my passport. (Expired copy and New copy of passport.)

    1. Copy of marriage certificate to Ex-husband.

    1. Copy of divorce decree from Ex-husband.

    1. IRS tax transcripts for years 2013, 2014, and 2015 tax return.

    1. Copies of lease agreements for residences lived in during the past three years.

    1. Copy of my child’s Birth certificate.

    1. List of additional organizations I was a member of.

Please advise if you have any further questions or concerns related to this application.

That was truly inspiring.  Such messages take a very long time to write.  Yours will give people hope in this thread.

Thank you. I do hope so. This time 6 years ago I was considering walking in front of a bus to get away from my abusive ex-husband. Today I'm a US citizen. If there's anything I can do to provide hope to others and show that there's a lot of life to be lived after abuse and divorce I'll do it. I was heartened by previous VJ posters who posted on their journeys. It's only right that I give back and shine a light so others can see.

Please can anyone help me out. Please

You probably need the results of the therapy and counseling sessions more than the final order at this point. @sandranj usually advises that you attend at least 4 to 6 sessions prior to filing your I-360 so that you can include an evaluation. And yes, you can file it concurrently except if your spouse is a LPR.

In addition to the receipt for the eye medication you also need the diagnosis or the report the doctor gave you when he/she prescribed your medication. Sorry you're going through this.

  5. Hello everyone.

Hope you all are hanging in there and flourishing. Sorry to the new members of the community for having to join us, but you are SURVIVORS and VICTORS and I hope those here can be of moral support to you. I recently became a US citizen thus completing my personal Visajourney and I wanted to update you all on how the process went.

From my signature you'll see that I became a PR in June 2013. Citizenship timeline is as follows:

    - Became eligible in March 2016.

    - Filed citizenship packet in May 2016 under section INA 319(a)

    - Got NOA1 email & text notification - 5/24/16

    - Got Biometrics appointment - 6/7/16. Scheduled for 6/21, but did an early walk in on 6/17/16.

    - Loooooooong wait. :clock:

    - Got interview notice - Text notification - 11/4/16, Actual notice 11/6/16

    - Interview - 12/9/16. Got email and online notification that case was approved on 12/8/16... Whaaaat?

    - Oath ceremony scheduled for 1/20/2017. (They were just being petty :D)

    - 1/20/2017 - Took oath in Nashville, TN. I became a citizen under President Obama. (No, seriously the letters were signed by B.O. I guess since it was before 12 noon, all bets were off. :D)

    Now for the nitty-gritty...

    Interview experience

I arrived 20 minutes late to my interview (location was 3 hours away from home) but luckily my interviewing officer called me to find out where I was, right after I received a speeding ticket, sigh... And I told her I would be late. She understood because I was coming from a long distance away (I don't know why Nashville interviews are held in Memphis but ok.) and told me she'd wait.

    - I checked in with my binder full of women (well, envelope full of copies and the originals of the docs I submitted with my application. I did not carry my VAWA documents with me.

    - Waited for my interviewer to be ready for me. (I would advise that you carry reading materials with you, in case you have to wait for a long time. You're not allowed to use electronic devices in there.) While waiting I also observed a lady who was being interviewed come out and go back in several times. The second time she came out her interviewer told her to think about it and not stress over her answers. Apparently she had failed some questions and was being given time to rethink them. More on this later.

    - When it was my turn my IO called my name and I followed her to her office. She swore me in and I sat down. We exchanged pleasantries and she began the interview. She asked me if there was anything I wanted to update, and I gave my updates. She had 2 large files with my A# on them and one had VAWA written on it.

    - She began the English portion of the test by asking me 2 questions (I don't remember the questions), she asked me to repeat a sentence after her, and then she asked me to read a sentence from a sheet of paper she gave me. She then typed something into her computer, and printed a sheet of paper which said something along the lines of "Congratulations, you've passed the English portion of your test."

    - Civics test - She asked me the first question and I quickly gave the WRONG answer. She asked to calm down, take a deep breath, and take my time to think first and not be nervous. And if I needed more time, I could go outside to the lobby to sit for a bit. (This is what the other girl I mentioned earlier was doing apparently. She came out about 3 times before finally leaving, and I saw her at the Oath ceremony so she clearly passed.)

When she asked me first question I gave the right answer this time, and we went through the next five or six this way. I'm sure I wasn't asked 10 questions, but I don't remember if it was 6 or 7 total. She had a sheet of paper where she wrote my answers on it. She told me I passed. Yay!!! Verified more information, and she told me I'd hear from them about the Oath. Later that day I got text messages saying my case had been updated, and an email saying I was approved and recommended for the Oath ceremony.

    Oath Ceremony

The oath was scheduled for January 20th, 2017 the Federal courthouse building in downtown Nashville.

Anyway, we got there around 7:45am. Appointment letter said to be there at 7:30. There were a lot of families waiting outside and those of us who were getting naturalized were called in to be given instructions, etc.

So we were told to turn our phones off/put them in silent mode and then they started calling people's names to come up with their completed oath forms and green cards. I completed my form when I was called up, surrendered my green card, signed my naturalization certificate (the USCIS official held onto it after I signed it), and sat down in my assigned seat. The seats had the naturalization packets in them containing

    - A letter from the President. (I was curious to see if it would be the new President who would sign our letters, but it turned out to be B.O. YAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!)

    - Passport application

    - Voter registration

    - Hard envelope for the naturalization certificates

We then practiced the presentation to the judge, where the USCIS officer calls names and you stand up as your name is called, say your full name and your country of origin. We were also informed that any of us who had children who were permanent residents would have derivative citizenship status right after the ceremony. Kids under 14 wouldn't have an interview, and kids 14 - 16 would have an interview.

After this our guests were let in. The courtroom was also open to other people from the Daughters of the American revolution, the election council (I think it was the election council) and our Representative's office.

After this the judge entered the courtroom and all of us (the naturalization applicants) were sworn in. The motions for naturalization and name changes were presented by the USCIS officer and the judge granted both motions. After this the USCIS officer presented us to the judge with a roll call. There were about 60 or so naturalization applicants from 28 countries. 1 person was a no-show. The judge then proceeded to give a lovely speech on immigration and how the US has benefitted from immigrants and he listed several naturalized Americans including former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, and several other distinguished Americans. After this we all stood up and swore the Oath of Allegiance (led by one applicant) and then it was congratulations all around.

Whew... That was long. I think I remembered everything, but if anyone has any questions please ask away.

  6. The part that really gets me from all of that, is I call him, ask him if he's looked at any appts online while I'm driving. He says "No, I'm going out to eat since I didn't have lunch."

    ....

    ....

    ....

This man should be thanking his lucky stars he has me as a wife. He says that I'm a fantastic wife. I feel like a crazy wife sometimes. But maybe I really am that fantastic wife. I wonder what kind of bauble I should pick out for him to get me for being so amazing?

I'm glad we don't have to pack everything in 3 days. I'm super glad I'm not homeless. . I'm super duper glad we don't have to move in with his work buddy either. And this man better super ooper duper trying to help me find us a home so this isn't an freakin issue!

Bah! Men sometimes... Great job for working it all out.

  7. bah - interim report.

We tossed all plans of divorce, instead making new plans to actually work on the marriage.

This took some time, as she finally understood what my financial portfolio looks like and why she has a real estate portfolio in her name.

in the meantime, my allergies have turned into a really bad cold, the phlegm color is green and leaves my body often.

    Yay for marital reunion! :)

Sorry for the green snot. Hope you feel better now. Summer colds are the worst.:(

  8. So, I called up the one person whom I'm probably the most intimate with in my life. Selene.....

Who is she? What is she? Do we need to come up there?

Ok, being serious now. You sound sad Steve. What's wrong? You don't read like your normal firecracker self.

Ok be back shortly bath time for the littles!

    Already? :)

My Mommy always says "If you don't like my cook food, go outside and buy your own".

Same here! Except, my mum wouldn't even give you the chance to go out and buy your own. :D It was, eat or go to bed hungry.

  9. Thanks Sandra. This means I have to write a letter and get it notarized in order to get another denial letter mailed to me. I also want to please find out if there is anything particular I have to write in the letter. As of now I think I should just write a regular formal letter and send it express to Vermont.

About the pro bono lawyer I called some organizations and they are very busy. I am willing to pay a lawyer to handle my case. Just that I want a fair price not 15000 dollars.7500 dollars ahead is a ridiculous amount because I have no arrest record. I also want a serious lawyer who knows how to handle my kind of case. Not one who is trying to complicate it further by wanting to handle the case in removal proceedings. I do want to hire a lawyer because I took 1 month off work in Tacoma to put my first paperwork together didn't know Visa journey existed by then. When I moved back to Omaha I have been forced to take multiple days off work to answer RFEs and make appointments to consult lawyers. I missed a week off because of the trip to Chicago . I figured out if I pay a lawyer to do it then I don't have to miss work. Maybe 1 OR 2 days in a month.

Have you visited Catholic Charities in your state?

  10. God, i just can't keep up with you people :(

Hubs bought a used Honda Civic yesterday, so car problems are resolved. Aside from that, not too much exciting stuff in my life.

    Yay!!!

Well, let's put it this way. A decent monthly income for a family of four is about 500$. Granted, you're not gonna be living in the lap of luxury, but it will definitely get you by.

A new car, so my younger BIL could make it a taxi and have income. As though finding a job on his own is too much to ask for.

Yeah, no... Good on you guys for sticking together on that though. It can be hard sometimes with family pressure.

  11. I kind of prefer to just cook for myself because then I can have whatever I want. When you have to think of two other picky eaters, it does limit your choices somewhat.

I can imagine... I may the new picky eater in my house soon. Between thyroid/autoimmune/allergy issues I need to get fixed. Problem is, I really dislike cooking different things for different people.

  12. Man's work in my house. Vacuuming, taking the trash out, fixing things, doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, watering the plants, caring for the dogs, eating her food  , massaging wife's sore feet, and here's the big one, making breakfast in bed for my wife on Saturday.

Oh and I pick up after myself. I hate clothes laying around, they belong in the laundry baskets, presorted so laundry is easier. Dishes and glasses used when its not meal time are to be returned to the kitchen and rinsed. Those are the rules I set for myself and expect others to follow, including my wife. She's never complained and was quite happy I was generally a clean house keeper when she arrived. But she takes house cleaning to a whole new level beyond what I do.

I need to exchange you for my hubs. I'm sure Juna won't mind. :D:devil:

is the word "issued" really all that mysterious and puzzling?

Yes. You have to remember, it contains the word "issue," which is ALWAYS a bad thing.

nuh uh you better contact your congressperson and see if they can get this "issued" status reversed - some have posted that it actually means you've been denied!

    TRUE!!!

    yeah, bad cary! :P

i have some leftover screwpine leaves so i am making nasi lemak today:

    nasi-lemak.jpg

Oh gosh yes!!! What is this? And how soon can I get in into my MOUTHHHHHHHH????

  13. You can order from Canadian pharmacies or shop around for a cheaper price. For example in the last 2 months I've paid $3, $15, $18 at 3 different pharmacies for the exact same generic pill script. Same with a different med, two different CVS pharmacies and one charged $25, the other $16.

WTH!!! That sucks! Sounds like a pill my doc prescribed when I didn't have insurance. Without insurance it was ~$100. With insurance? $110. Guess which option I chose.

  14. Husband is not a happy camper about changes to our health insurance. It's going up because the teachers insurance is being given a break so they don't want to raise their insurance. So ours will go up to pay for theirs, on top of it going up they raised our co pays for medications big time. Raise the monthly rate by another 100, and we have to start paying 1000$ deductible to see a doctor. Then they raised the co pay once you meet that 1k to see the darn doctors too. Bad enough the State has stopped giving them raises so our health insurance goes up and but pay hasn't budged in 5 yrs.

    Sure makes Canada more tempting

    That just sucks!

I know, right? I set up a 'rescued aunties' group in Dallas, they would always come over to my house on Sundays, stay all day, and cook. They not like to cook for 1, either.

So, if'n you can, try to arrange for impromptu cooking club, with people you know or trust, meet once a week, cook enough for 3 meals per person, set up for left-overs in the fridge.

And it'll make for a nice social gathering too.

  15. This whole discusson about cooking and who's doing what at home made me realize, that I'd love to cook, but cooking for 1 person (myself) is no fun, so I practically don't cook.

It's especially no fun if you're used to cooking for a lot of people. Growing up, we typically had no less than 6 people in the house to cook for. At least it makes for lots of leftovers though. :)

  16. I dunno what to make for dinner.

Hubs got a 100 on his last test and was the only person in his class to do so. The instructors again are pushing for more instructors. The pay is really good BUT you have to live in OKC for 5 years. For us, it's just not worth it. His current job comes along once in a lifetime. When he was hired we had no idea where he would be working as there were openings all over the country including Alaska. I'm pretty happy we wound up in Denver.

    Yay hubs!

  17. No, not necessarily, but it depends on the size of the mole. I had one removed that was black, new, scary looking, and itchy and they removed it all at once and deep into the tissue because it was concerning. Turned out to be non-cancerous, but I am glad I did it.

    Yikes!

Did I mention that in two weeks it will be the 2 year anniversary of my dad's death from melanoma? I am a little passionate about skin cancer awareness as a result.

    Sorry for your loss.

  18. She was breast fed, but not allergy based as I was already dairy, soy, nut and many many more free! It tends to happen more often when babies are born before 39 weeks.

Ohhh... Did not know that... How come you're all that free? Auto-immune issue?
