Hello. My green card expires in late June 2021 and I applied for citizenship back on December 1st, 2020. My estimated time to completion of citizenship (in Portland, Or) went from March 2021 to June 2021 and now finally to March 2022. I am booked to travel to see my Dad for the first-time post-vaccination in September and now that's all up in the air. I read that if you apply for citizenship with more than 6 months left to go on your green card , you don't need to apply for a new green card , but if I had applied for a green card I could potentially get a i-155 stamp to extend my green card by a year, meaning I could travel. Is there something similar can get a i-551 that would extend my green card by a year so I can travel to see my dad? Or should I apply for a green card extension and then apply for a Ii-551 stamp immediately? It seems unfair to those awaiting citizenship if we don't have the extend option also. Thanks. R.

Hi everyone! I have a pending I-485 case and my EAD/AP combo card expires on Sept. 22. We haven t received any word on our green card interview yet, so we decided to go ahead and submit our EAD/AP renewal applications this month just to be safe. We sent the applications via USPS Priority Mail on May 10 and it was supposed to arrive on May 12. Instead, we received an In Transit - Arriving Late update on our tracking page and it has been stuck on that since May 16. We opened a case with USPS last week and did not have any luck getting any updates from them (followed up with them daily). We didn t want to delay the renewal process further, so we decided to re-send our applications - this time, via UPS Next Day delivery. The moment I got home from the UPS store, I received an email from USPS saying: Our records show the Priority Mail Item #*** was scanned and distributed to the PO Box unit (60680) May 12, 2021. It is very possible for the item to have been delivered without a scan, if an item is not scanned the tracking will not update. Also, it could take up to 15-30 days for USCIS to send a notification of receipt. **sigh** It s still not a definitive answer or a guarantee that the package was, in fact, delivered safely... but now that our second application has been mailed out, is it going to cause any issues down the line if USCIS does indeed have the original application? We included cover letters on our new applications that explained the situation and stated that this was our second attempt at filing these renewals, but I m not sure what else to do, since we haven t even received any case notifications. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Thank you!

Hi all, We just received our green card (yay!) and I was wondering what people's thoughts were on self filing for ROC vs using a lawyer? We used a lawyer for our AOS process and it went smoothly, but honestly don't really want to spend another $3k for the ROC. Am I right in thinking that ROC packet is very similar to AOS, only we will need to include 2 years 9 months of new evidence of bonafide relationship? Thanks!

Hello all, I am getting ready to file my I-751, l am living in Texas and still happily married. From looking at the timelines in the shared google sheets it would appear that the majority of K1 entrants are filed under their local office and not the MSC. I am hoping that it the case since Texas looks to have a very quick processing times on the USCIS website. The thing is, my conditional GC is prefixed MSC. When I file the I-751 would I get a new receipt number, and is it likely my case will be headed to the Texas office?

Well boys and girls, I m back. After being married for 3.5 years my partner has been doing the dirty and we re going through a separation. Sometime next week we should be able to file the paperwork and get the process moving forward for a no fault, nothing contested divorce. I just wonder where this puts me with immigration? The I-751 was filed back in January jointly. Main points: 1. Should I write to uscis advising them we are getting a divorce? - new I-751? 2. If I write to them I will get an rfe, what if the divorce is not finalized. 3.If I don t have a final divorce decree for interview will I be put in removal proceedings or will I be living on extensions until the divorce is finalized? 4. My case is at NBC, so will likely get an interview. I take it if I can t get them to play nice it will go against me if they don t come with me to interview? Thank you all in advance. Wonderful people.
