Hello! I have a question regarding an interview for AOS based on K1 visa. Do I need to have an original I-797 (NOA2 from K1) for the interview? Some backgrounds : We did our K1 process with a help of an immigration law company, so when our petition was approved USCIS sent them an original I-797 and we got an official copy I-797C. when I started to prepare my AOS package I noticed that and texted the company asking them to send me a scanned copy of the original I-797 via email (so I could go ahead and finish preparing AOS package), as well as to send the original document via postal mail. They sent us a scanned copy, but nothing via postal mail. I sent my AOS package, had biometrics. So do I need the original I-797? Or could I use copy I-797C? Or I do not need it at all?

Long story short. In 2017 my first K1 visa process took 4 months. We got married and our marriage lasted for 2 years and after we decided to split. I've been living in between US and Russia bc my son stayed with his father in Russia. That cause the distance in our relationship with my then husband. Then covid hits and I moved back to Russia completely. My green card expired in 2020. A year ago me and my ex husband went to vacation together after long time apart, and we realized that we want to give us another chance. And we are on this road again. We are applied for k1 in February 18 and we expedited in May for the reason of the Russia-Ukraine situation. Then we got RFE they asked for divorce certificate. Our stupid mistake. And now its been 5 month since "Request for Evidence Was Received". Seems like this is the longest desition they are making on our "complicated" case because they might have to check my background while I was in US. Im confused. Its simple in one hand because we were married and complicated in other, because we annulled our marriage. Im worried that they might denied our case. I have no criminal history while I was in US. Just so you know. Thank you.

Hi friends - Looking for some advice on completing the Stepparent Adoption paperwork in California. Anyone had any luck in CA? My wife and stepson are both from Russia. The bio dad gave up his parental rights in court in Russia and we have that court document and notarized translation. (1) On Form Adopt-200, should I use my wife and stepson's legal Russian Names, or legal US Names? My wife's Russian documents/court documents have her previous married last name, and my son has a patronym in his Russian documents but not US. (2) If bio dad has given up his parental rights via the Russian court system, do I still need to include his name as Birth Parent? If so, how do I address the question about signing consent? [Adopt-200 Form, #12] (3)How did you handle Investigation or Written Report? Did you choose someone or did you allow the court to do it?

This may be a complete doofus question, but I always hear horror stories about documents being asked for at interview that don't "match" what is in CEAC. I have "match" in quote because I have 'three' wedding certificates. I did the Utah online marriage, fyi. - Digital/signed PDF that was issued directly by email from the Utah County clerk.
- The original paper copy, that was mailed immediately after #1, in my possession.
- A certified paper copy that was generated along with apostille, in my wife's possession.
So, technically all three are the exact same documents, same format, words, dates. But, would there be any issue with uploading to CEAC the digital PDF version #1 from here, and then in her folder of documents, also going to the interview with #2 + #3 (I can give her #2) when we meet next time.) Or, would it be better to scan one of the paper copies and upload that to CEAC and completely ignore the PDF version from the court.
