For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a lengthy process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf Also, since your application will go through several background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process. I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC (California Service Center) must work through! When someone gets to your file, you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fianc about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck The explanation why is it taking so long. https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/681798-august-2018-i-129f-filers/?do=findComment&comment=9558550

Hi everyone! Been a lurker for some time here and thought I'd ask for your help with this. We're currently in the processing of assembling our K1 packet and plan to file this December; I understand that we won't need the form I-134 until the interview but we're simply planning ahead given our situation. We wanted to file early given the backlogs and we're actually banking on those right now as my boyfriend will only start working this December; hopefully, this will give us enough time to prepare for our finances. His monthly salary is enough for 125% of the HHS guidelines (if projected annually) but he won't be able to provide much proof of it aside from his recent pay stubs as he will only start next month, his current savings by that time, and maybe a letter from his employer, and on top of that, this situation may change as he's waiting on an application that will most likely pay better by March of next year. My question is - I've seen how some people used co-sponsors for Manila, some rejected (for reasons such as the sponsor was not an immediate relative, or that the k-1 is a non-immigrant application), and some accepted. Given that we have limited proof for the affidavit of support, we plan to ask my uncle, as in my mom's brother, who's currently a high ranking official in the US Navy, just in case, as a safeguard. There is no question if he will be able to meet the requirement, but will he qualify as immediate? And we will not be staying in the same household as they are situated in the west coast and we might have to stay somewhere east. Am I overthinking this? I tend to do so with any kind of application. Any kind of advice is welcome! Thank you and please stay safe.

Hi all, I am a self employed business owner. I have been for the last 5 years. My business was put on hold in March/April due to the pandemic. Since then, I have been on unemployment. I am currently working on a new business but am making very little still. I expect to grow it over the next several months. I have ~$300k in my bank/brokerage accounts and ~$80k in physical assets, and no debt whatsoever, so I am not too concerned about "public charge". I'm not entirely sure how to answer Part 6 (Sponsor's Employment and Income). It sounds like unemployment is counted towards income, so I will include that. I will put in the end-of-packet notes that part of my 2020 income is from unemployment and specify the amount. Additionally, I have read mixed comments on how to determine "current income". It sounds like for those who are employed, it is what they are currently making. But for self-employed, it's tricky to do so. From my understanding it would either be based on 2020 expected income or 2019 tax year income. Right now, I am planning to use expected income (which includes what I made before March and what I am making now/expected to make rest of the year (~$22k). I will also include info in the end-of-packet notes. Does this sound correct? Also have a few other questions 1) Am I required to include my entire tax returns or only specific pages? 2) Does selling stocks count towards my income? If not, can you please provide info where it explicitly says it's not counted as income? Thank you all.
