CR1 Visa Clarification

My husband's passport visa states "Upon endorsement serves as temporaryI-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year" Upon entering the US and receiving the stamp the visa becomes by de-facto his green card until such time as the actual card arrives, (which can take up to 4 months from reading the receipt of payment of the fee. In the hopefully unlikely event that he may have to leave the US due to an emergency, he can do so as per the quote above and the passport duly endorsed?

Thanks

Police clearance certificate

Hi All.

Our K-1 petition was approved on Aug 16th 2023.

My fianc and I are waiting for welcome letter from NVC.

While waiting for the welcome letter, as beneficiary I like to start collecting required documents.

I used to live in Malaysia on May to November 2006.

I checked on the US embassy website, I will only need police certificate country of residence for six months or more and all countries where I have lived for one year since age 16.

Then, on the same website again,

  • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

Does (did) anyone has experience with police clearance certificate?

Should I still need to present police certificate from Malaysia?

I am bit confused with these different information from same sources.

Really appreciate for you advice.

many many thanks

hey guys,

i see a lot of topics regarding what documents to bring to your k1 visa interview but i wanted to see if theres 2023 latest updates on what we need to prepare in terms of financial documents

a couple of q s:

1. how many months / years worth of:

- paystubs

- tax transcripts

- income statements

2. if my fiance only has 2021,2022; will the co know that we cant get 2023 tax transcripts yet or do we need proof that we cant obtain it? (sorry if this question is worded poorly and is confusing)

3. any other suggestions and advice on what documents i should be bringing

thanks in advance,

Oath ceremony: clarification on dress code and documents to return

Hi all,

Our judicial oath ceremonies are finally happening this Friday. Preparing for it and noticed several potential issues:

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/chapter5.pdf says only the green card needs to be returned, but

https://askellis.com/oath-ceremony-naturalization/ (not official, but reading it since it discusses what happens on the day) say return other USCIS issued documents like EAD and AP as well.

Presumably only the green card is needed? Our concern is somewhere between USCIS and USPS my wife's EAD card was lost. We didn't really file any official report back then since our green card interview was scheduled not long after anyway.

And how strictly is the dress code enforced? Esp the no jeans part

"""

The naturalization ceremony is

a solemn and meaningful event.

Please dress in proper attire to

respect the dignity of this event

(please no jeans, shorts, or flip

flops).

"""

Thanks!
