Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was very nervous in the morning of my interview day on Feb 12, 2019. I arrived at the Embassy too early at 11:45 am. Then at 12:25 pm, the security guy asked all of the visa applicants to show our passports and they checked our names on their list. Passed through the security check and directly walked to the visa interview building.

A local staff called us to collect our documents. I was very nervous and my hands were shaking. The lady seemed like she was in a rush. She didn't take all of the documents I brought. I was asked to email the Embassy a IRS Tax Return Transcript. She said that they have a new additional requirement. She gave me my medical check up result, a piece of paper about FGM/C, domestic violence pamphlet and the evidences that we sent with I-129F. She told me to show those evidences to the Consular Officer (CO) if he ask.

I waited for less than 2 minutes and was called to the consular section window. My heart was beating normally, I wa... read complete review

I have pleasant admin and interview process.

The lady at admin is pleasant and very organized. She likes that I prepare my paperwork in meticulous way.
I made 1 original and 1 copy separate binder. But to make me easy get doc out from the case better put Original in front of the copy. Asked for IRS tax transcripts 2018 return the 2017 take the W2. Doesn’t look to my big bundles 1040 and W2. Prepare your original divorce decree. Take the affidavit original and copy. Asked my birth certificate but doesn’t take the sworn translation one, just look. Take my and son’s passport. Fee pay k1 and k2 Original deposit bank payment.
Give me the information for genital mutilation and domestic abuse, asked me to read it regardless I have print it and read it on my file.

Interview part at window 7. He review the petition doc he has, take my oath. Finger prints. Told me about the domestic abuse and we are still covered by US law. Ask me throughly on ... read complete review

The officer with whom the interview was conducted was excellent. Very cordial, and professional. However, the clerk who processed some of the paperwork prior to the interview was not very warm and projected an air of indifference.

The interviewer is really friendly (Chinese/Asian American man). We missed to submit tax return by just needs to send it by email. So it was 90 percents approved. After we sent by by email and notify them, it Quickly approved because our expiry date to arrive in US is on 17 Dec..

I'm going to give you a little trick to make your visa process faster and it's applied as of October-December 2018. After you get your NOA2, wait for two weeks before calling NVC. Normally, your case number will be assigned in two weeks. After you got your case number, it's time for Rock n Roll. Send an email to US Embassy in Jakarta to get interview appointment. You don't need them to send you the P3. You can go straight to P4 and get the interview date after you fill the DS-160 and pay for the visa. Usually you'll get the interview in 2-4 weeks. Ask for 4 weeks from the date of your email because it will give you sufficient time to have your case transferred to the embassy. This time line will give you sufficient time to complete the documents required for the interview. It will be better if your fiance is coming and give it to you, so you wouldn't be worried about some important documents are lost in shipping or get delayed. His/her presence also a good reason for attending the inte... read complete review
