I am a US citizen/Canada PR, husband is Canada citizen and last month we submitted the 1-30 online. I have lived in Canada for almost 10 years and we will stay in Canada together until he has a via in hand. We are aware this can take up to 2 years, but I am curious is it best for us to sell our house in Canada before he receives his visa? I keep reading about a 25% tax and of course would rather not pay that. Our current mortgage renews next fall, so we were thinking of selling the house at that time and renting for our remaining time here. We will use the proceeds of our house sale here to fund the move, purchase a house in the US. TIA!

I am a Bangladeshi citizen residing in Canada as a permanent resident since September 2021. In 2022, I applied for a US tourist visa with the intention of planning a summer vacation trip to the United States. My wife already possesses a US tourist visa, and I require one to accompany her on our travels. Allow me to provide a brief background about myself I am currently employed as a Project Leader, in the Engineering department of a manufacturing company. I find myself frequently needing to visit the United States, as our company is part of the America region. It is a multinational corporation with over 109 manufacturing units spread across 76 countries. Notably, I submitted my US tourist visa application before joining my current employer. My timeline for the visa application process is somewhat unique, and my application has been in limbo for a while. May 6, 2022: Interview - Initial decision - "Refused". November 29, 2022: Changed to "Administrative Processing" from "Refused". April 19, 2023: Asked for updated travel purpose and supplemental questions. Sent it on the same day. April 24, 2023: Asked to send passport for Visa Issuance. Sent it on the same day. May 5, 2023: Refused again, requesting the previous passport biodata page (remarks: I only have one passport, expiring in May 2024, and no previous passports held). Sent an email explaining the situation. May 31, 2023: Refused under 221g, requesting to submit a standard CV, a list of all post-secondary institutions attended, degrees awarded, and years of attendance; (2) the exact title and abstract of your degree thesis/research; (3) names and positions of advisors/supervisors; (4) complete work history with dates/locations; (5) list of publications, and (6) source of funding. Provided the requested documents on the same day. June 2, 2023: Received the passport back without the visa (requested it for upcoming travel to my home country). As of now the status is Case Created: 06-May-2022 Case Last Updated: 31-May-2023 A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or the website for the Embassy or Consulate at which you made your visa application. For more information, please visit U.S. Consulate General Toronto. I will become eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship in the next 8 months. If granted citizenship, I will be able to visit the US using my Canadian passport, which alleviates my immediate concerns about the visa. However, the current visa application situation is still a significant concern for me. Is there a possibility to withdraw my current application and subsequently reapply through my employer? Alternatively, what steps can I take to bring a resolution to my current visa application? Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I've been wondering, what happens if you become a naturalized US citizen and move back to your home country? I've been considering filing a N400 this year, but I haven't been able to find exactly what happens in this scenario. I know as a long time permanent resident I'd pay an exit tax if I moved back. You have to file taxes/tax forms to the US every year regardless where you live, right? Is there anything else that would happen?

Hi everyone, I have a question about deadlines. I most likely will receive my NOA2 in February. My question is once I get to the NVC stage how long can I wait to pay the fees and complete the DS 160? We're just wanting to delay the process so I'm moving no earlier than August or September. Thank you for your help:)

Hi everyone, I am a US citizen who has been residing in Canada for over five years. We just received our I-130 approval and intro letter from the NVC. I have a question regarding the Affidavit of Support requirements, and cannot seem to find any answers or experiences from others. I am employed by a Canadian company and will continue to be employed with them working remotely when we move to the US. I have been employed with them for year(s) and will have a letter confirming I will continue to be employed remotely and paid X salary while living in the US. I have filed taxes every year since I've lived in Canada. Will my Canadian income be enough for the Affidavit of Support? I am worried that because the income does not come from the US, it will not be enough. If it isn't enough, does NVC send RFEs for joint sponsors, or immediately refuse the application? I can have a joint sponsor no problem, but it would be easiest to avoid it if we can.. Does anyone have personal experience with this, and if so, did it happen to be through Montreal? Thank you in advance!
