Hi We applied for US visit here in Toronto, but there is a long waiting list ( almost 2 years!). Is there a way to shorten the wait time? We have tried to re-schedule, but system is not giving us any options. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello! I moved to the US from Canada after marrying a US citizen back in 2015. I'm currently a green card holder and eligible for citizenship. I didn't change my name on anything at that time, including my immigration documents, drivers license and social security card, nor my Canadian passport. I'm now at a point where I'd like to take my husbands name officially but i'm so lost on where to even begin. I'm open to becoming a US citizen and changing my name for immigration purposes at that time, but do i need to do anything at a local point? I signed my name on my marriage certificate as my maiden name. Is that all that is needed to change my name with SSN? What about SoS? Do I need to change it with USCIS before I do the previous? And what about filing with the local courts? Does anyone have insight as to what, if anything I need to do to update things in Canada? And I worry to about not being able to travel during this potentially long processing period. any help appreciated.

Im looking for folks who had interviews at the Montreal consulate on April 16, 2024. Could you please share your case status? My friend and I both had our interviews on that day and we are stuck in ready and refused status after being approved and have not received any request for additional information or background checks. Wondering if there is some issue with that particular date since we ve seen others receive their visas issued with interviews after April 16. Concerned Thanks! Hi, As we get closer to the NVC/consular stage I am trying to piece together the lift for our convoluted situation based on the Canadian Consulate expectations... My parents were both born in Europe, they lived in a couple countries in Europe as adults and then immigrated to Canada. They have been there since the late 80's though. So based on that as it relates to the documents we need to upload and bring to the consulate interviews are there nuances????? Anyone in this forum who went through I-130's for their Canadian family members who weren't born in Canada but are Canadian citizens and residents? I'm assuming the biggest implications is for the Police Certificates? They would need to get it from Canada and the other countries they've lived in for more than 6-months in their life (or provide proof requesting the information and not being able to get it?) What about their birth certificates? Although my application for them is for them as Canadian citizens for an I-130, do they expect them to have a Canadian birth certificate (not possible, they weren't born there). Do they need to submit their birth certificate from country they were born and if so, then i need to get those translated by a certified translator? We did that for their marriage certificate from Austria. Any other "heads up" things related to a similar case so we aren't hit with a bunch of "unknowns" requested and delays would be GREAT!
