| Canadian Citizenship Question while being on conditional CR1 |

Hello everyone, I have a unique scenario. I hold a conditional greencard and I can remove the condition at the end of this year. Before this, I was a permanent resident of Canada. I am originally from Nepal. Because Nepal doesn't allow dual citizenship and I liked living in Canada, I had applied for Canadian citizenship on 2019 , but the caveat is I had already applied for CR1 in 2018 because I am married to an American. I do plan on moving to Canada at some point and I applied for Canadian citizenship after consulting with a lawyer. I passed my citizenship test for Canada back on April 2021 and I took the test from seattle. I recently got a message from Canadian Citizenship Office in Vancouver asking: 1) when I plan to return to Canada ( to provide travel arrangements) 2) If I am already in Canada, to provide proof of travel documents. While I plan to return to Canada at some point (maybe retirement), it won't be for long term in the immediate future, but was planning to visit my sister there. I emailed the lawyer who originally advised me, but she has moved firms and I haven't heard a response back. I need to respond to the Canadian Citizenship Office, but don't know how to respond to the questions above. I was so close with my citizenship process. Should I just say I plan to go to Canada on so and so date as I was planning to visit my sister there....so torn, as I do not want to jeopardize my Green Card in the US in any way either. Should I just give up my hopes to be a Canadian? Any suggestions for a good Canadian immigration lwho is well versed in US immigration would be very much appreciated!

Did EI (Employment Insurance) ask for anything from the employer after you applied other than ROE (Record of employment). Did they ask to explain why you couldn t continue to work remotely for the employer in the US or is it determined based on the nature of the job. If the employer is moving back to in person and thats the nature of the job prior to pandemic think it would stand to reason you can t work while being physically present in the US. I m waiting fir a call back from the EI international line. Hard to determine all the variables, no guarantees, I m on track to making the minimum hours required as a first step, but 420 hours will only get 10 weeks of EI earnings if approved. I just want to wrap everything up. If EI will be another arduous process don t want to bother.

My wife and I are filling out the I-864 and we're using our assets to meet the requirements. If we plan on selling our home (but it's not sold yet), do we include its net value under "real estate holdings" or under "savings and checking accounts"?

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me out. I am trying to figure out if I need to apply for an extension on my K1 Visa or if I need to seek a lawyer at this point. I received an approved I-129F petition on 10/29/2021. My fianc submitted his DS-160 on 11/11/2021 and then had his interview on 02/07/2022. After the interview, the Montreal Embassy temporarily refused the visa for "Administrative Processing" and requested a questionnaire be filled out. We promptly returned the questionnaire on the same date. Upon further research, it appears that this questionnaire was part of DS-5535, it's been 3 weeks and the Embassy is not replying to our emails. I have read online that these can take anywhere from 'several weeks' to over 8 months. The only information I've seen is on the CEAC site indicating a "Refused" as of 02/16/2022 and stating that "Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete" I am livid that the officer at the Embassy targeted my fianc , considering Canada is not a high risk country and given I have provided every form and document to them with more than sufficient information. I can't help but to feel this was due to some form of discrimination given my fianc 's ethnicity and orientation. Is it recommended I bring a lawyer in? I appreciate any insight anyone has on this and how to proceed. Thank you, Michael

I m curious if anyone has some insight on this hypothetical, but possibly realistic, scenario. I list my house to sell on April 10 I cross the border and activate my visa on April 15 and return to Canada April 16 to pack belongings. House sells April 20 and closes June 1. In this scenario, would I be considered a non-resident and be subject to the 25% withholding tax when selling the house (primary residence I ve lived in since it was purchased 7 years ago)?
