Hey all, I'm about to file my N-400 application but I'm curious to know how other people counted their travel days. The instructions say to count how many days you were outside of the US for over 24 hours -- so, does that mean we don't include "travel days?" (ex. If I took a flight at Noon from New York to Canada, does that "day" count toward my total?) I've made ~10 trips out of the US in the last 5 years, so whether or not I include my travel days will change my total count by 20 days. Thank you!

Hello everyone, Quick background: I became a permanent resident and got my green card at the beginning of 2020, right before covid hit. I wasn't able to get to the SSN office to update my SSN number before they all shut down due to covid. Currently, my SSN card has the "DHS authorization" restriction on it, and my conditional 2 year green card is now expired. I have submitted my ROC documents and have my 24 month extension letter. Am I able to go to the SSN offices with my expired green card and valid extension letter and update my SSN to remove this restriction? If anyone has experience with this, I would greatly appreciate hearing it. Thank you.

Hi everyone. We are June 2022 filers, 5 months waiting now. My American fianc e (petitioner) worked 3 jobs this year, but 2 of them were largely seasonal and 1 of them she is only per diem right now. We are trying to get more hours at 2 of her jobs so that she can be making more during the off season, but we are not having good luck. Obtaining a new job is not optimal option for us, because it would be hard to get time off to visit each other. She is thinking of applying for partial unemployment, while she still works at 2 of the jobs on the weekends. Does being on partial unemployment for about 5 months (November-April) affect our K1 visa in ANY way at all? And will it affect future things like AOS, etc.? We believe she has made enough to cover the poverty line already, but if not, her mother is a guaranteed co-sponsor.

Hi Everyone/My experts team, I have a question from my VisaJourney trusty colleagues: Statement of Facts before the question: I have applied (Form i-130) in 2017 - Specific receipt date is Sept 11, 2017 - If I look the website the specific USCIS center (Vermont - where the file is located) timeline on website for this USCIS center says ESTIMATED 55.5 months. I understand that this "estimate" is barely a guideline and probably a "gestimation". Currently actual month consumed from receipt date are <<61 months>> and counting. Question: In your opinion, Would it be advise able to write letter to USCIS Vermont Center & Politely - Very Humbly ask them, what is a correct status of my application (Form i-130) or will this be 'wasted effort'. and or annoy them (USCIS). Thanks in Advance -s

Hey guys! I've been looking into this a bit and I seem to find a lot of conflicting opinions and thoughts on this, so was just hoping for some experience and knowledge on the idea. My fiance and I are planning on marry very shortly after I enter the US, with a proper wedding further down the line, just with the intention of keeping things moving along quicker for my AOS. But what I'm wondering the most about is my name change. I've read that people will get married and then when they apply for their SSN, they will use their married name? Meaning I would get married first, then apply for my SSN shortly after and then AOS. Meaning my GC would be issued in my married name. But I've also seen people say they would recommend waiting to do the name change until later down the line. So I guess what I'm getting at, is what would you guys recommend as the quickest/easiest way to do my name change throughout this process? :)
