| Does USCIS contact Ex-spouse? (Naturalization after Divorce) |

I entered the country on a K1 visa and was married to my USC spouse; I'd received my conditional Green Card, and we ended up divorcing within a few years. I applied for (and received) my 10-year Green Card with a divorce waiver, and have recently applied for Naturalization. My question is: During the naturalization process, how likely is it that USCIS will dredge back into the details of my previous marriage - or more pointedly, how likely are they to contact my ex-spouse? Our relationship ended with divorce because he was abusive, an alcoholic/addict, and wouldn't stop cheating on me. At various points he threatened to take his life and threatened the safety of others, and I almost got a restraining order but feared that it would have actually pushed him over the edge and led to violence. He's historically been unstable and expressed vindictiveness toward those who wrong him in some way, so I can't predict his behavior. I cut off contact with him over a year ago, but he's recently found a way to reach out to me -- and I'm afraid that if I don't respond to him (or otherwise tell him to leave me alone), that there's some way he might be able to meddle with my immigration status. I don't know if this is a grounded fear (whether USCIS would even contact him to verify information about me for any reason) so I would really appreciate it if anyone has any guidance as to whether an ex-spouse remains relevant to naturalization after receiving a GC under the divorce waiver. Thank you, all.

Good evening, my US spouse passed in 2021. I filed for ROC in 2022 with waivers because he is deceased. I waited to file to get court documents and will taken care of from probate court to provide as much as i could with my application. Just recieved the 48 month extension letter today. My question is can i get remarried before ROC. I have met a fellow widower and we have discussed marriage. He is aware that I am in the immigration process. I am fully employed, own my own home etc so fully support myself. Thanks in advance.

Hi - not sure if I named this topic right - but I will be coming up on time for me to apply for my ROC later this year. My only question at the moment is: I have a valid Ohio drivers license that will expire later this year (I applied for it based off of my EAD - and received a green card after I had already gotten the DL) My GC will not expire until 1/3/24, so I considered going in to renew my DL based off of the GC. However, the earliest I can file for my ROC is October of this year, so when the I-751 is submitted, will there be an extension letter for the I-551? Will there be NOAs? Am I able to use the extension letter to renew my DL? I cannot seem to find anything on the Ohio BMV site about the particular verbiage for the form name, mostly just the usual: Proof of Residency, SS, name, DOB etc. That is my only concern as I do need to drive to work, I'd like to keep making money, after all lol Thanks for all your help and any corrections!

Hi! I was trying to book an appointment for my medical and the medical physician says that they'll send it directly to the Montreal Consulate. The packet 3 and 4 confirmations state that I need to bring the sealed medical report to the Consulate. Which is it? Does the doctor send it to the Consulate directly and I take nothing? Or Do I pickup the results myself and take the envelope to the interview? Any help is appreciated!

Hey everyone. I'm FINALLY getting around to applying for my first US passport after becoming a citizen last year - I did not have any travel planned so I had no need to have one at that time - and I'm a little confused by the "Spouse of Applicant" information section. Apologies if this is a silly question. Has the applicant ever been married? The answer is "yes" ? He's married to me, and ONLY been married to me. So the for is asking for HIS information in that section?
