Hi everyone. I m going to try and make this short but any help is appreciated. I ve been living in the U.S. with my spouse after an unplanned elopement last July, we filed for my Adjustment of Status concurrently with my I-130 petition, as well as my I-765 EAD, and I-131 AP. I am Canadian and crossed via land border to visit my wife for the Canada Day & 4th Of July holiday week in 2022. So I was not issued an i94, as well as did not have any valid visa status. But since I am Canadian I did not need a visa to visit. when we got married and decided I stay, we contacted a lawyer and he said it would be no problem since our wedding wasn t planned. Fast forward to a year from then, my EAD has been approved and i m about to start my new job on this coming Monday, but I just got a letter in the mail saying my interview has been scheduled for this Wednesday. When it comes to Bonafide evidence of our marriage, my wife and I have affidavits from our family and friends (we even lived with my father in law for many months while we worked through this process), we just very recently signed a lease and moved into our own apartment in the city so we do have a lease. I am on her health insurance card as a dependent, as well as I am a named insured on our car insurance. We do not have joint bank accounts because we just use an online no-fee bank and they don t allow joint accounts. however, we just downloaded my wife s tax transcript from the most recent filing year (we filed her i864 with the 2021 tax year and she s since filed for the 2022 year) and we realized that her tax agency filed her as Single and not married filing separately (as I did not work in the U.S. that year and have filed in Canada for myself.) we did not realize this error until today, which is one week from the date of my interview. will the other evidence we have as a married couple be enough that the IO won t question it ? Or will this severely hinder our chances of a successful interview ? She is filing an amendment for 1040-X to change her marital status with the IRS tomorrow, but it takes about 3-5 weeks to receive that confirmation. It was an honest mistake, as she has been using this tax preparer for years and we truly didn t realize until right this moment. many advice on next steps? Or if I should or should not be worried?? thanks xx

We just got married last month and we're still unsure if we're going to file for a petition right now or later on. Currently, my wife is a permanent resident in the US but she'll be able to apply for citizenship early next year(Feb 2024, ~six months from now). I'm(Canadian Citizen) currently not living in the US right now, but would love to as early as I can. The question is, which is the better path, filing a petition right now or just waiting for my wife's citizenship and filing the petition after? Which one ultimately leads to faster processing in theory? I'm also thinking of getting the Boundless Immigration service and would like to know some experiences you guys have with them. Another question I have is what would be some good evidence to show USCIS for a bonafide marriage? We haven't lived together and I've just been visiting her most of the time so we don't have joint anything since I live in Canada. We only have pictures when we go on trips and every time I visit her. Thanks for the answer in advance.

Hi All! Finally got our welcome letter today; I've gone and paid the AOS/IV fees, so just waiting for those to process. I am putting together packets for the medical and the interview, and just have a question or two. One of the docs the website says is needed for the interview is: - Original or certified copies of birth certificates for all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying).
My husband's son is 18 - is this still required? We are already having to wait for my husband's birth cert, so want to get his son's ordered if necessary. The list also calls for adoption papers - If you are adopted: Adoption papers or custody documents, English translation, and a photocopy.
My husband was adopted when he was six - they really want adoption papers from 40 years ago? Also, are all the original docs returned (either at the end of the interview, or by mail), and the consulate just keeps the copies? The ex-wife has a copy of their son's birth cert, and if they're returned then we could borrow that one. Thanks in advance!

Hello All, I applied for passport at a Passport Office in Post Office in my town, and State Dept. received application on 06/05/2023. But then I had to move temporarily while the passport application was processing. Because I don't have a relative nearby I forwarded all my mails to rental box via USPS. In addition, on 06/19/2023 I also did a change of address with State Department by calling 1-877-487-2778 as follow: To: CA-PPT-HQCallCenter@state.gov 1. Applicant's Name (First, Middle, Last): My name 2. Relationship of Person Submitting Form (Self or Minor Child): SELF 3. Locator Number (If Known):00000000 (known) 4. Date of Birth: XX/XX/XXXX 5. Contact Phone Number: XXXXXXXXXX 6. Email Address: XXXXXXX@GMAIL.COM 7. Previous Address Given on Application (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code): XXXXXXXXXX, WA 9XXXX. 8. New Address (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, and In Care Of, if Applicable): PASSPORT OFFICE XXX MYTOWN AVE, MYT, WA 9XXXX (USPS OFFICE). Question: How can I confirm address change with State Department system? Can State Department forward passport to USPS PASSPORT OFFICE in my town's USPS office? Thanks for your attention in advance.
