Documents required for Visa interview?

Hi All! Finally got our welcome letter today; I've gone and paid the AOS/IV fees, so just waiting for those to process.

I am putting together packets for the medical and the interview, and just have a question or two.

One of the docs the website says is needed for the interview is:

  • Original or certified copies of birth certificates for all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying).

My husband's son is 18 - is this still required? We are already having to wait for my husband's birth cert, so want to get his son's ordered if necessary.

The list also calls for adoption papers

  • If you are adopted: Adoption papers or custody documents, English translation, and a photocopy.

My husband was adopted when he was six - they really want adoption papers from 40 years ago?

Also, are all the original docs returned (either at the end of the interview, or by mail), and the consulate just keeps the copies? The ex-wife has a copy of their son's birth cert, and if they're returned then we could borrow that one. Thanks in advance!

Hello All,
I applied for passport at a Passport Office in Post Office in my town, and State Dept. received application on 06/05/2023. But then I had to move temporarily while the passport application was processing. Because I don't have a relative nearby I forwarded all my mails to rental box via USPS.
In addition, on 06/19/2023 I also did a change of address with State Department by calling 1-877-487-2778 as follow:
To: CA-PPT-HQCallCenter@state.gov
1. Applicant's Name (First, Middle, Last): My name
2. Relationship of Person Submitting Form (Self or Minor Child): SELF
3. Locator Number (If Known):00000000 (known)

4. Date of Birth: XX/XX/XXXX
5. Contact Phone Number: XXXXXXXXXX
6. Email Address: XXXXXXX@GMAIL.COM
7. Previous Address Given on Application (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code): XXXXXXXXXX, WA 9XXXX.
8. New Address (Street Address, City, State, Zip Code, and In Care Of, if Applicable): PASSPORT OFFICE XXX MYTOWN AVE, MYT, WA 9XXXX (USPS OFFICE).

Question:
How can I confirm address change with State Department system?
Can State Department forward passport to USPS PASSPORT OFFICE in my town's USPS office?

Thanks for your attention in advance.

Can I travel by Air to Canada from US with green card and expired PR card?

I am a Canadian PR and US Lawful Permanent Resident. I currently live in the US.

My PR card is expiring in Aug 2023 but I am sure I have maintained my Residency Obligation. I have travelled many times to Canada by land in the past few months and and been allowed entry and CBSA confirmed I met my Residency Obligation.

I want to travel by Air to Canada in Oct 2023 to attend my Canadian citizenship oath ceremony.

I know that as an LPR, green card plus non-Canadian passport is accepted to board a commercial plane to Canada.

Source - https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1053

I also know that as a PR one must present one-self as a PR to CBSA when at immigration, and despite an expired PR card they will let you enter canada provided you meet Residency Obligations.

Considering the above, does anyone see any issues with me flying to Canada given my expired Canadian PR card?

Pre-booked Travel

So, I am in the process of sending in all my documents (AoS, EAD, etc) and while I was working on the form for Advanced Parole so I can leave the country some concerns popped up.

First:
My husband and I have pre-booked flights from Canada to Mexico, initially planned for 2020 which, of course, had to be postponed. The group we are going with agreed on dates for this coming November (2023), while I was still in Canada awaiting approval to move to the US. Now I am here, and due to what I am reading I'm uncertain if I can travel for leisure. The form indicates humanitarian reasons. We'd only be away for 9 days but now I'm worried this won't get approved and it's getting close to too late to cancel our tickets.

The second concern that arose is I had to leave some of my things at my previous residence in Canada and would like to be able to go collect them ASAP, would I not be able to do that either with an AP? How does this work? Am I just stuck in the US now until my status is adjusted? What are my options.

Thanks!

Size of Household

Hopefully this isn't a completely dense question!

I've been scouring this website looking for an answer but I'm still not entirely clear on what I need to do here.

I'm filling out form I-485, in Part 8 #62 where it asks for size of household. I immigrated to the US from Canada under my, now, husband's sponsorship. Is this question in regards to the size of the household that's requiring sponsorship? Would it just be me or would it be me and my American husband? Do our two other roommates need to be considered in this count? (I assume not as they are not involved with our immigration process at all). I did look at the form instructions to see who should be included but it still doesn't specify if the American citizen and sponsor is to be counted.

In that same vein, since I'm here on a K1 visa I don't have the ability to work so I am assuming the next question regarding annual household income would just be my husbands?

Thanks in advance!
