Replying to ones own post causes an edit of the original post

I tried this in the "Test" thread as this happened to me in the K1 forum.

When one submits a post and clicks the "submit" button and one (same user) wishes to add another post with differing text or comments the second submittal is appended to the first post?

Example- the first post ends...here

but this text was submitted via a "reply" to the first post

And this is the second "reply" to this thread- Is this right?

Yes, I noted that too on the "Post Bugs Here" thread. Now if only Ewok or Wook would change the little blips beside a thread that denote there's a new post that's been added in GREEN the repost as a second post rather than an edit just might work, methinks

If I'm following you right.........The issue I think arises as the reply button at the base of the post is actually a quote button.....I have done that with my own posts accidently too.......its a little confusing

Yes, but only when you're "replying" to your own post. If replying to someone elses post it (the reply) works perfectly fine.....

That's why you were confused by my post in the K1 forum. The final posting was really supposed to be three different posts, all with different post times. Instead it took on the appearance as one submittal.

It can get very confusing......

I getcha now

I am also having a problem with the edit button at times as I am finding even if I go to edit straight away...if someone else has posted it wont let me edit mine. How have you found it????

I think it's cool if it only replys (adds to your own)IF your own is the one right before it..saves on signature length no? For ex...only one sig. would be displayed for you instead of 3 if you made 3 posts in a row. I like it! :) M.

That's what I was getting at in the other thread with Shons posts..I could care less how many times she posts..just that her long sig. is there after each and every post in succession..if she posted all she wanted and only one sig..it's all good! :) Unless I'm misunderstanding what it's doing..??M.

did I mention..I love the quick edit thing too! :)

I think this is the "linear" vs" "normal mode". See the options tab.

Ok, I have switched to the "standard" mode.

this is the part of the original post...

this was added after my previous post.....

*nope*, it did not appear to fix this anomaly.......

The intended *second* post (which is a reply) is still appended/added to the original post.

thats good, why would you want to reply to your own post? doesn't that somehow equate to cyber masturbation - replying to ur own posts?

There are many that reply serially, such as when you answer one posters question but wish to reply to another in an entirely new post.

Many do this here. I do this frequently as well as other posters such as Yodrak, Aussie, Gimy........

Thanks for the masturbation connection, though.

if you wait for 5 minutes after your first post, this will not happen

I certainly don't see this as a new option but rather an impediment.....or is it impedement? I dunno, no spell check either. !

care to elaborate why this is an impediment??

It's annoying.

And it's an impediment when, for clarity, I want to make two distinct points in two distinct posts. So what if they're consecutive? Why should that matter?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
