Hi there everyone!

We got our RFE letter in the mail today and it's asking us to "submit a passport for proof of citizenship for you and your beneficiary".

Just to make sure we're gonna do everything right, this is just to provide a scan/picture of the information page of the passport, right? I was thinking just because of the wording that we could submit both our passports just be sure, even though it doesn't seem like the beneficiary's is required? Just to make sure we're not gonna get denied.

It's a little bit scary, especially since we sent in the petitioner's birth certificate but oh well, these things happen!

I want to revisit a VJ topic "Vietnam Exit Visa - Child Born in VN w/USC" from the year 2015. My wife is thinking about having a baby in Vietnam. In my opinion I feel she is complicating the birth of an U.S. newborn in terms of visa and registering the birth. She wants to have the baby near her family in Vietnam since my side of the family in the U.S. won't be very reliable when comes to helping with the newborn when needed which I totally understand.

Based on this post in 2015, the recommended approach is Vietnamese citizenship and passport to exit then CBRA to enter U.S. with US Passport. Another option is a exit stamp with a US a passport. Since 2015, I am sure new Vietnamese immigration laws are in effect and old one got phased out so if this approach or new approach is still recommended for a newborn.

If anyone could share their recent experiences with the process of registering a newborn and exiting Vietnam and entering U.S. of an USC that would be great.

Hi, I am confused as to who creates the case number after the USCIS approves my I-129F.

So....

1-does the NVC or the Designated Embassy creates the cas number?

2- do I ( the petitiononr) reciever the case number or does my forgiven fiance (the beneficiary) recieves it?

3- how will I recieve the case number? Mail or e-mail?

4-how long does it typically take untill we recieve the case number

5- USCIS form I-797 says to contact the NVC if i dont receive a case number with a minimum of 30 days, However, the NVC does not respond to inquiries in regards to non-immigrant visas.

So who should I attempt to contact in this this regard?

My fiancee and I are applying through the embassy in Malaysia I know it s different for every embassy, but I figured I d ask here since we had such a confusing experience and I m hoping for a general answer.

We ve seen on multiple websites that it depends on your embassy whether you need a Welcome Letter or if you can just schedule once the CEAC status is ready. We tried to go ahead and schedule at Ready (to see if it d even let us) and were met with the dreaded No Slots Available. After trying and failing for almost a week, and not receiving an interview letter/welcome letter that whole time, we called the embassy.

The woman on the phone said that we didn t need to wait for a welcome letter, we could go ahead and apply, and if it said No Slots Available to just keep trying. We asked whether the welcome letter would show up in physical mail or email, even if we don t need it, and she said we wouldn t be receiving one at all so don t expect one.

Well another 4-5 days pass with no slots open still, so we call the embassy again to double check if we really won t receive a welcome letter, and how long we should expect to wait for a slot to open. This other person says we WILL get a letter, and that s why we can t schedule an appointment yet we ll need the letter first. The letter will arrive by email and should come within 2 weeks of the Ready status.

Now we don t know what to believe. Has anyone had a similar experience? Especially with the US Consulate in Malaysia, but anywhere else too?

Main question is if the No Slots Available can be at fault of us not having a welcome letter, but just generally about the experience too.
