Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

We filed in December 2023. Since then there has been ZERO activity on our case, just endless waiting. I have contacted the office of my Congressional rep, they said they could only assist if we met one of the conditions for expedited processing -- in which case, I wouldn't need the office's help, I would just file the petition with USCIS directly.

I contacted the office of my US Senator, with no response.

What can we do? Can we hire a lawyer? It seems like our application has disappeared into a black hole.

Green card holder here and I went through a separation, divorce situation about 11 years back. After I was divorced for that year I received alimony and started doing some small local works for payment by cash. Money was tight and I couldnt pay taxes that year and went into depression because of divorce, was jobless and living with my folks for two years while I improved. Had no income for those years and no taxes. Got a job after that and has been current on tax and filing. For the year I didnt file or pay taxes, I had brought forward the refund from previous year and applied to state and federal tax. Federal send me a refund check for that after a year as they saw no filing. State kept the tax I paid.

I filed for N400 and on the form I checked the box that I owe tax and also attached a letter that I owe tax and will be going on a payment plan. Months before the interview I calculated tax owed for the unpaid year and because of expenses for my self employment I found I didnt have net income that is taxable. Since I didnt owe tax as per my calculation I didnt file or pay tax.

During interview they didnt ask me about tax. I got approved. I was told will be called for Oath but its been several months.

Because it got delayed I got worried and got in touch with an attorney who asked me to verify the tax for that unpaid year with tax consultant to see if my calculations were right. Seems some of my expenses cannot be claimed so I owe tax ! Luckily the state tax I already paid well covers it (and I should get a refund but its many years back so I cant claim refund). The federal part (though I paid it, they refunded it as there was no filing) I still owe. No filing done for state or federal. Both state and federal don't have any transcripts or income information for that year (because its alimony and self employment and so no W2 or 1099) which is why I got no notice from them.

I am unsure how to handle this. I was honest in my N400 that I owe. My self calculation errored me. I only owe federal tax. State already has my money. For both no filing done. This is 10 years back. Been current on all taxes since that.

    - Can I be considered misrepresenting ?
    - Does USCIS only consider taxes for past 5 years (and not something 10 years old)
    - Is my case beyond repair now and can be deported ? Or is it better to not go for Oath or Withdraw my N400 and fix everything and reapply ?

One immigration attorney I spoke to said since I have come this far, to wait and see and if they deny or ask for RFE deal with it then, else take oath and be done with it.

Travel - I also will be going for a 3 week travel outside US for a very important matter and I have been delaying that for so long that I have reached a deadline and should travel. Is it safe to travel with this situation now. What if N400 is denied while I am outside , will I be stopped and turned back on re entry.

Hi! Husband filing CR1 for a spouse. Few questions about social media as it relates to DS-260.

    1) Is she required to list her social media usernames?

    2) What if my wife deactivated one or more Facebook accounts in the last few years? Is she still required to list that on the DS-260?

    3) For all of her deactivated Facebook accounts, is she required to reactivate them all for NVC purposes? At least one of her deactivated accounts involves a major past trauma.

    4) What if it's a deleted YouTube account that was she frequently used (ie. with uploaded videos)? Is she required to list that one as well?

what NOT to say during border check

Hello, I have a question on what NOT to say during border check. Some background:

We live in Japan. Me (US citizen) applied for a I-130 for my wife (non-US citizen). My two US citizen kids are moving to the US to go to school and will stay with my family until I-130 clears for wife. I have a very high paying job here so no immediate plans to move until the whole I-130 thing is done, and even then I may not move. However, wife is worried about the kids being without dad and mom, so she wants to go visit kids/help them adjust (she retired early so has a lot of time) using her ESTA. Wife has no intent of cheating through AOS etc., especially since she has a ton in assets back home and has no desire to live in the US. (I'm not trying to sound snobby, just giving some background facts.)

Wife has an ESTA and is planning on spending maybe 60 days in the US, 60 days back in Japan, and so forth, during a single school year (and not doing this for more than a year). She isn't worried about being denied entry, but I am. I would appreciate advice on what not to say if asked the following questions:

    1. Purpose of visit

-Can she say she's here to visit family, or that kids are going to attend school while living with family and she is there to help them get settled in? Or leave out the "living with family" part?

-Or should she just ambiguously say she is visiting friends and family?

(basically I don't want her to offer up any more information that could trigger any red flags)

    2. Duration of stay

-Assume she can just say the date she will leave the US?

    3. Where will you be staying

-Should she say (and stay) at a hotel? Or is it OK to say she is staying with family/friends?

    4. Do you intend to return to Japan?

-US citizen husband is still living in and working in a high-paying job in Japan

-She has a multi-million dollar home in her name at home, where we live, along with a ton in financial assets, etc.

-All of her family is in Japan, except US citizen student kids

    Many thanks in advance!

Hey you OldUser:  Can you help remind me where on VisaJourney we can go an view applicants with similar Visa applications to get a real idea of where we stand in the line?  Or maybe it is easier to go somewhere on the USCIS website??   We applied for my Wife's adult brother some 12 years ago and originally we thought it was going to b a 20 year process....it sounds like it might be a much longer process putting in jeopardy his ability to bring his under 21 year old children along with his wife.   Thanks, Eric

      need help everyone. thank you!
      1. i am so confused between these two. the first one states I should include my husband’s current annual income and he got a higher annual income now since he got promoted to a new position in the company a week before our wedding.

and the 2nd one shows his recent 2024 annual income and it’s a different amount from his previous position in the same company. is it ok if both amounts are different?
      2. hubby had jr in our petition but it was omitted on our marriage certificate, for i-864 and i-485 should we continue using our last name with jr?

      3. in the i-864 should we include hubby’s current job position in the same company, even it it’s different from the i-134 job position he has?

      thank you

I have a question. my i485 was denied because of affidavit wasn't done incorrectly. but my son case still pending. should I refile for him or just myself? when I refile should I add him on the new affidavit even though his case still pending? what's the best way to fill out a i864 with a joint sponsor if my spouse doesn't meet the requirements? Is my son case on Hold till I sort my stuff out? or will it be denied? sorry a lot of questions thanks in advance

I have my Citizenship Interview tomorrow and just want to make sure I'm fully prepared. Here's my full list of documents and supporting materials - am I missing anything?

      Interview Notice (Form I797-C)
Green Card (Original + Back to front copy)
      Tennessee issued Driver's License
      Current + expired passports
Copy of N-400 application and supporting documents
      Marriage Certificate
      Our daughter's birth certificate
      Tax Returns (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)
My i-94 wouldn't load for some reason, so I compiled all my travel outside of the US since I entered on my K1 visa back in 2021
      Employment History summary
Employment verification letter from my work
      3 Months of Pay Stubs
      Proof of Address

      Thanks all!

Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.
I want to thank all the people here for the help along the way.
When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.
Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.
We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.
Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be.
Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.
      Thank You again,
      Michael and Angelica
