Community SpotlightAbandoned AOS and now regret it
Mariammaria posted a topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?-

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
gandalf1989 posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures,
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?-

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
Left Over posted a topic in US Citizenship General Discussion,
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?-

Fiancée threatened with deportation by customs agent after arriving at airport for false accusations. How concerned should we be?
deletedUser21321 posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Firstly, I want to get some things clear because I know everyone will say this otherwise:
We are seeing an immigration attorney for consultation soon. We've already printed out several documents to prove that my fiancée is not coming here with the intent to live here for the future until they get the K-1 Visa... Now, Heres the actual story...- 53 replies
Fiance or Marriage Visa in 2025 ? Pros and cons?
KandB posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
I'm 23F 🇨🇿, my partner is 29M 🇺🇲
We want to get our visa going sometime this year and want to be together as soon as possible but we are still unsure which visa would serve us better. I'd like to get married in my home country but on the other side i wouldn't mind getting married paperwise in the US and waiting for my work permit and etc if it would allow us to be together faster and then save up for and have our dream wedding in my home country.
What do you think ? All of this is so overwhelming and confusing and we just want to do the right thing.
I asked the same question on reddit, so many people recommended me to go with fiance visa, two suggested marriage visa. I need more input and advice from experienced people. Thank you
Ps: is it possible to have dual citizenship so i don't lose one from my home country? How does that work ?- 31 replies

4 RepliesHi folks. My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum. Would appreciate any and all help and perspectives.
I'm a US citizen living in California, and my fianc e is an Irish citizen living in London doing her postdoc (she has a Phd in a science field). We plan on getting married later this year. The legal marriage and religious ceremonies will take place in Ireland, and then 1-2 months later we will have a reception in California. She would then go back to Europe to complete her postdoc. In the meantime, we will file a CR1 (I-130) while doing LDR until the visa process is complete. That is the plan I had in mind at least.
I need some guidance on what is the best way to logistically navigate this in a lawful manner. When she visits California for the reception, she would travel under an ESTA. She would legally be my wife, so should she just be completely honest with immigration officers? That she recently married an American citizen (me) and is visiting for a reception and intends to return to Ireland afterwards in a few weeks? She could of course come prepared with proof of employment, proof of tentative stay (hotel, airbnb, etc. reservations) and whatever else. I've been told (not by a lawyer) that this would be the best course of action. Similarly, in the future while the visa is being processed and she wanted to visit the US, she would have to show/establish intent to return?
Which brings me to my next question - what would be the best time to file the I-130 application? Should it be done in-between the Ireland and California events? That way there's proof that we have paid the fees and started the lawful process for a spouse visa before she returns back to Europe. Or should I wait until she goes back before filing the application?
I really appreciate anyone who responds. I realize that there are probably thousands of foreign spouses traveling to the US on a daily basis. I just want to do my due diligence and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. We are trying to do everything in a lawful manner.

2 RepliesMy fiancee name was misspelled on our NVC welcome letter and at first I didn't think it was be a big deal because we filled out the I-129F correctly everything processed smoothly. We did our DS-160 and have her biometrics, medical and interview already scheduled.
With things getting more strict, a bunch of new stuff has come out from the medical center wanting a lot of additional documentation for the medical exam as well as for the interview and biometrics. I'm wondering if we should do something about this?
Her name is Nita and the put Rita on the welcome letter. NOA 2 is correct is there anything that we should do at this point? What if Saint Luke's medical center denies her medical exam because of the misspelling? I assume it's too late for the NVC to fix it since our case is already at the consulate/embassy?
Resume demanded for US tourist visa (B1/B2) 2:55 pm yesterday

12 RepliesApplied for B1/B2 visa after current 10 year visa is about to expire. Qualified for dropbox appointment but was apparently called for an interview at Embassy in Delhi. Went for an interview and it went smooth but got 221G (Additional admin processing). We are party of 5 (Husband, wife and 3 kids). When I checked CEAC tracker, it shows approved for wife and 3 kids but refused for husband. Now, we got an email with letter (See attached). Now, the thing is the letter mentions several points that are irrelevant from a tourist visa perspective. So I am looking for suggestions on what points to include in my resume. Is there any format or template available that I can use. Points like Research, Funding, Itinerary are irrelevant at this point as I haven't made any travel plans yet. Any suggestions, advice will be greatly appreciated.
PS: Have only visited US once and stayed for about 3 weeks.

Should I call or wait? Is it a bad thing? I am so scared right now because of political situations. Please advise!
