Well, this is the second time this week this has happened. Tuesday morning both my daughters elementary school and my sons middle school that are about 1/2 from each other were in lock-down because of reported shots fired. There was an actual shooting in front of my daughters school last week. Just heard on the radio my daughters school is in lock down again and no one is saying anything. Pisses me off. I live in a good town, low crime rate, I just bought a place close to the schools because of this supposed "good area" and now that a group of people moved in, it's going to ####### and fast. Why won't the law inforcement people just do their jobs and get the people outta here? The word is the gangs from St. Louis and KC are moving to this territory. :protest: As of right now the school won't tell me a thing and parents cannot even go pick up their kids. What the hell is this world coming to? I told my husband the other night if the law here would treat criminals like they do in Egypt....we would have no crime! Now I just want to go puke. All I want to hear is that all is ok.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

That happened at my daughter's school last year.... made me sick with worry. Boy confronted his girlfriend in the parking lot with a gun, then turned the gun on himself.

She just gave birth to his baby.

We live in a small conservative (bleah) community... basically no crime.... no one is immune I guess.

Sigh.

I swear the school secretary must thing parents are dorks. The radios are reporting the school is in lock-down while "Police are doing their job." What the heck is "their job" that requires a school to go in lock down? All the secretary says is the kids are safe (Thank God) and that I cannot come to the school because they won't let me in! I'm afraid they might see some really irrate parents.

Oh wow..... my daughter had her cell phone so I was able to stay in contact with her. Teachers were great... school allowed parents to come in after the all clear. Many did. My daughter wanted to stay. She had a science lab. I was a mess. She was fine.

So sorry to hear about your worries. I hope you hear something soon! Sometimes it's something that's going on in the neighbourhood, and they "lock down" the schools so that the children won't leave, won't go out for recess. They don't want the parents at the school picking up children because it would put everyone in harms way. Perhaps there is a hostage or domestic violence situation within a block or two of the area and it's cordoned off. Anyway, I'm sure the police are just making sure everyone is safe.

Know that we're here for support.

Yes, it is very sad. Do know however that no community is immune to violence. You can't get away from it. And it's too easy to blame "outsiders", whether they be gangs or whatever. Lots of times it's about people in your own community, and we don't know what's going on inside their front doors. Makes one think about how much we should be knowing who our neighbours are, so that safety plans and interventions can happen before there is a crisis.
