Hey..

I've been practicing driving from time to time with my husband. My major problem is that i cannot seem to stay in my lane! It's not like i drive in 2 lanes but the side of the car always touches their lane limits. HOw can i fix the problem? I can't seem to see if our car is really in between my 2 lines, just the way it should be. I'm 5 foot, i hope my height has nothing to do with this.

Does anyone have a trick that could help me make sure im correctly in my lane?

My wife makes the same mistake. Her problem is she tries to stay in the middle of the lane... i mean she tries to get HERSELF in the middle and doesn't realize she's on the left side of the car.. so what she needs to do is try to get herself on the left side of the lane , thereby getting the auto in the middle!

I've also noticed she does a much better job of staying in her lane when she drives a compact versus when she drives a midsize.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Agree with that. I usually try to align the middle part of my car with the middle part of the lane. I find the lane here in US is quite big so just try to place your car in the middle once you get in a lane.

Great, agent smith, so i shouldn't feel so silly, i guess im not the only one! lol

the worst part is that i THINK that im correctly in the middle, until my husband tells me that i'm almost in someone else's lane/ touching their line.. I just don't see what he sees though!

My husband told me he thought he was gonna have a heart attack the last time we drove bcz i drive fast sometimes, and he just doesn't know if im actually gonna break or not once i get to a red light! lol Hmmm, my dad told my mum he thought he was gonna have a heart attack too, when he used to teach me how to drive! lol I guess if 2 ppl said it, it might be true! ....? hmmm lol

I have been driving for a long time now, but when I was learning I had this problem too. What the instructor told me to do was to align the middle part of my car (if you have some kind of decoration, i forgot the real name for it) with the line on the right then you will be driving straight and in the middle of the lane. Always worked for me.

Some women drive better than men. I am definitely a better driver than my husband. I credit that to the fact that I have had lots more practice as our public transportation system is practically non existant.

Alot of newbs at driving seem to bounce around in thier lane like they are stuck in a pong game... and that's usually from them over steering to stay in their lane. Look ahead a bit more, not dead in front of your car. As your hand and eye coordination gets better, you won't be going side to side as much.

Here's some advice, more so then a tip. It's not a law in most states, just a general rule of the road, that people around HERE seriously lack... When there are more then 1 lane going in one direction... the lane closest to the center is for passing. It's for those of us that like going fast. Even if your going the speed limit, and your not passing anyone in the right hand lands, please move over.. especially if you see someone coming up from behind you. That seriously irks me when people are in the fast lane and won't move over.

Another one: If there's more then one lane, again, and you see someone trying to pull out going your way, or coming onto the highway, and you can move over out of the right hand lane, please do it.

Yes, I'm a firm believer that accidents are caused by the slow drivers out there :-D
