Hello people.. today I have to say goodbye to VJ for a couple of reasons. The recent immigration events which we all know about, have just flooded the site, and it's just something I don't plan to read everyday I login to VJ. I think it's too much.

Now, I understand how the people who haven't got their papers feel when a couple of millions will or will not get their legalization (residence or citizenship) withouth followin all the steps, and the hell that sometimes USCIS is like. But I do also feel, and I don't intend for you to understand me, that it's difficult when you're targeting a group, in this case, illegals, to separate their origins, in this case Mexicans.

I do not want to ask for the political correctness and tell you to refer to illegals as 'illegals', 'mexican illegals' or whatever. But I do read everytime how some of you refer to 'The Mexicans who all want to invade US', which is a blatant lie and it's very offensive for me. My parents live fine in Mexico, and they do not care, or have ever thought about moving to the US, not before I came here, not now, and not ever. But with those generalizations, it hurts me that some of you think that Mexicans are a bunch of leeches who want to Invade US and just make it a 2nd Mexico.

Unfortunately, when using generalizations, you hurt someone, directly or indirectly. The way some members refer to 'the MExicans who want to invade us' just makes me feel unwelcome, and I would not ever recommend this site to more hispanics who want to know about immigration procedures, because I want to save them the experience of reading all these things that are posted everyday.

Probably this will be a fad, problably it'll last for some years, but for now I don't think I should be here. Probably in a year I'll be back to check the removal of conditions, problably in less time, but not now. I understand the civic duty some of you feel to defend for what have you fought hard, to bring your beloved ones to this country, but sometimes people write stuff, withouth thinkin how others feel, or if they are affected.

For now is all. I hope people who's still waiting get their visas. Sorry for the Mexicans that are or will mess up the paperwork time for the embassies all around the world. SOrry if one of them took your jobs, or if you can't go to Juarez just walking through the holed fence. peace and out

This makes me sad. :(

You will be missed, Pedroh, if anything to give an alternative viewpoint to this whole mess. But sometimes, trying to stand upright against the tide can be exhausting.

Best wishes to you and your wife. (F)

sad to hear you are leaving and I'm sorry you got offended by many posts. I do think that generalizing is bad and I know that it has got to hurt when so many ppl talk about your people this way without making a distinction. I wish it hadn't come so far as to shy ppl off this forum...

pedroh, I think you should stay.....your viewpoint is a necessary balance on this forum and is greatly appreciated.

This is a tough issue and the generalizations have really exposed some true colors here. The generalizations are the kind of ####### I've been talking about and hoping to avoid.

Sorry to hear you are fed up with posts on immigration issues from Mexico. I am saddened that people from Mexico have gotten bad press, especially since most are just trying to better their lives. I would tell you keep strong and stay active , don't quit you are a voice in the wilderness and can shed light into other's lack of understanding on the issues out there...

I'm sorry to hear you are leaving Pedro. Many of us here need to remember there are many nationalities on this site and comments made, although not directed towards a person hurts. Every time I see a post regarding mexicans or muslims, I cringe. It's just not cool.

Aww pedroh :(

I'm so sorry you've been hurt by this, as I am any other people who have been hurt by this.

You might remember that I posted on a thread awhile back some statistics I had taken the time to research regarding this issue. This research was motivated by my dismay over the amount of animosity, not specifically from here but from everywhere, being directed at those from Mexico or perceived to be from Mexico. I have been very disturbed over this, and I am not one of those targeted so I can understand that it must be even more upsetting for those who's country of origin is Mexico.

*hugs*

On a positive note; Lorena Ochoa just won her first championship, and moved to the top of the money list of the LPGA. Plenty of supporters there in Las Vegas waving Mexican flags to support her. Thank goodness golf is truly an international sport.

Pedro, porque te va??? :(

I too got sick and tired of all the ####### and prejudice I read recently in the "Off Topic" section, following the immigration reform "debate" (and you think these people are in a relationship with immigrants, it's amazing!!!) The debate is not one anymore, but a monologue of a few people shouting aloud in front mirror.

Just don't pay attention. Ain't worth it. BUT please don't go away ;)

Sometimes I think I know everything, and I regain consciousness. Seen it all, done it all, forgot most of it....

I know how exactly you feel, Pedroh. It can get awfully tedious having to constantly edumacate people who think they know everything about every place they've never even been to, and everything about people they don't even know. "A little knowledge" is indeed a dangerous thing.

Take a break from us if you must, but I hope you decide to come back ! You would be sorely missed if you didn't.

Hasta lluego
