Hello... all "interested ones" :)

I just wanted to share with you that I got my EAD card in mail today! Yesss!

Check my signature for all dates but:

EAD filed July 24 - approved October 4 - received October 18!!!

My AP was filed same day - approved same day - received October 12!!!

AOS filed July 24 - RFE end August - Interview November 21. A couple of days short of 120 days mark. Hope to God we get approved on the same day. Who says USCIS is slow???

Just kidding! Of course they are slow! But I think that general impression from these wonderful and helpful VJ forums is that majority of us wait way, waaay too long and that it may look so simply because we often come here to share our frustrations!

Well, I thought that with this post I will add to... maybe a smaller number of those who are able to post "good news" of how sometimes USCIS gets it pretty straight!

I pray that many more of you get same "speedy" approvals!!!

Blessings to all,

vik

Although this point is mute, since you filed under the old fees, your timeline of events demonstrates you wasted money on both an EAD and AP, since you will most likely get approved for a green card in just over a month since receiving the EAD and AP.

But I agree that was fast.

But not as fast as the good old days when we filed. EAD approved and made on the same day of filing during Walk-in. AOS complete in just over 4 months again with walk-in filing.

You think it is slow now...... you should have tried to 2 years ago... it took 181 days from filing to approval for AOS... and that was quick... there were lots more people who waited over 200 days+.

Kez

Looks like the good ole days are back. Washington DC (unfortunately, my local office) is backed up like a toilet in a Harley Davidson rest stop. They're still working on AOS from November of 2006... yee haw.

I don't have news from my green card application yet, but assuming I get it soon: as far as I'm concerned, I agree that my AP money was wasted, but it was a security in case I had to go home for some sort of emergency. As for the EAD, even if I got my green card in like a month, I'd still be damn happy I filed for EAD and got approved, because I already found a job and would not have been able to accept it without the EAD, and I already made the $170 or $180 back, tenfold.

I would not jump to any conclusions that the money was wasted yet, EAD and AP are interim benefits and do not reflect any potential delays in the FBI Name Check (I hope you do not get stuck there) and the subsequent issuance of the green card.

I think the 170 spent was a good security blanket and not moot.

Seven weeks from filing we had a receipt! ;) But our EAD/AP arrived relatively quickly, and with that, I honestly don't give a damn when the green card shows up. SSN + driver's license + work authorization = relatively normal life.

I am well aware that we were extremely lucky.

And as witnessed by LaL's situation, and of other's ... I concur with being careful what you wish for.

Be very careful, our Interview was 109 days from RD, We were stuck in name check for 32 days. Our AOS went through in 140 days from RD until date on GC. We flew through the process. And were stuck in Name check if not we would have been approved in 109 days give or take a few.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

narrocks - what's RD? (not on the list of acronyms!)

satellite - like others said - paying for AP and EAD might look like "waste of money" (before fee increase where $1010 covers it all) but it isn't really. It does give you a peace of mind though as there is simply no way of knowing how long before you get GC. I'd rather pay $300 or so more than stress over how quick - or how slow - my GC will come!

We were planning a holiday before Christmas so AP was a must. Now we moved the trip to next March and maybe I will go with GC but if I get stuck in name check like some do... I can still go because I paid for AP. And my first paycheck should take care of paying off both EAD and AP. And AOS as well! Am I asking too much? Hope not!

Anyway... glad to hear there are even faster approvals. Wouldn't it be great if USCIS went back to processing speed of Satellite's time? Or is it just wishful thinking?
