Good Luck to you! I quit recently - just a couple of months... Chantix did not work for me, as a matter of fact, I lost weight on Chantix but wanted to smoke more often. But I did use the patch and had to change my circle of friends at work. The patch worked well for me, there were times that I'd forget to put it on until I had a real craving... but if you try it, don't sleep with it on... it caused me horrible nightmares. Anyway, good luck to you! the twizzler thing is a great idea too... my doctor suggested that I get some for just that reason. Now I'm addicted! :D

I have finally met my love and my best friend... I can't thank God enough for this gift! After spending 17 days in Ghana with my love, I am even more consumed by him and all that he is.

The only thing that helped me quit smoking was getting scared (and nicotine gum)

This site really did it for me.

It's not for the faint of heart, but it works....check out esp the "we died young" section

http://www.whyquit.com/

Good luck, I know just how you feel.......but you can do it!!! I smoked for 20 plus years, and if I can do it ANYONE can

my hubby says the first couple of days are the hardest... he went without any gum, patches or meds... just cold turkey... it was more of a "one cigarette craving at a time"... he quit after smoking since he was a teen (2 ppd before coming to america and about a 1/2 ppd since)... he quit on 2/15... so 31 wks 6 days 13 hrs 29 mins... thats 2,235 cigs not smoked and $782.25 saved (www.quitmeter.com)... he loves being able to use that money for other things (currently obsessed with iTunes)...

keep acknowledging the positives of quitting... you can do this... you have a will power of iron!!!!

Go Lisa! I know exactly what you're going through -- I'm quitting (have quit?) and I'm on a diet at the same time. And I did the cold turkey as well -- nothing quite like it! I've been smoke-free (with one sneaky cig) since 10 August and I've managed to lose a stone at the same time. It is totally possible! It's great not to smell bad, waste money and with the weight loss, look better at the same time. I find my skin is clearer as well. It's all good!

Hang in there -- the first two weeks are killers. I found staying away from my triggers (anything involving alcohol) helped a ton, as did enlisting my non-smoking friends in keeping tabs on me. I threw out all my lighters and even my secret stash of emergency smokes (that was painful). We're all rooting for you here!

You can do it! I think a lot of it is making up your mind that you really want to stop smoking. I too actually liked smoking; at least most of the time. I quit on the 13th so I am at 2 weeks now and I am starting to forget some of my old smoking routines.

One of my favorite stop smoking sayings; if your lungs were on your face then no one would smoke...

Some ideas:

Be proud of yourself.

Tell everyone you can that you quit.

Clean out your house and vehicles.

Set some progress dates and celebrate them with gifts to yourself.

Good luck and best wishes!
