Who cares what the UN says. They are a bunch of anti-Israel nut cases anyway. I am in favor of disbanding that useless bunch of idiots. Turn the UN building into condos. Israel has a right to protect itself. What they did is not illegal and I fully support what they do. The rest of the middle east should just get over it. Israel is here to stay. Thank God the USA supports them.

It dont matter what you say the international court of justice has already judged it as Illegal. I suppose we should disbandon that also with the UN and also we should rewrite the geneva convention for Israel's sake... lol... sorry Israel is a terrorist state if ever there was one and its been that way since it was formed. Your the trrorist apologist.

I disagree. U.S. immigration let so much obvious fraud get through that you really have

to trust them when they say it's fraud. People don't get put on AR for no reason.

That's utter bullcrap. When you are a muslim man of a certain age from Pakistan, Egypt, etc. you are AUTOMATICALLY put on AR. You just have to look at the mena AR waiting list to figure that one out. My husband is NOT a terrorist and he has been in AR since the day he was interviewed. Your comments are dispicable.

The West Bank, Gaza, the Golan Heights and the Sinai were occupied in *1967* -- not 1973 -- in the war that *Israel* started when it attacked Syria, Jordan and Egypt.

The 1973 war was Syria and Egypt's response to Israel's attack and illegal seizure of territory.

Look it up

You are partially correct.

Partially ? Which part of my post is incorrect ?

Israel did launch the first military strike; however, if you want to look at all of the causes, factors and situations leading up to the actual Six Day War (which took place from June 5 - June 10, 1967), a very strong case could be made to say that Israel was provoked into attacking. The history explains it all...

Well, simply ignoring everything that isn’t in Israel’s favor does not exactly pass for “history,” but is instead a one-sided story. One could just as easily make “a very strong case” that the Israelis escalated tensions until they manufactured an excuse to attack, and then did exactly that.

Israel clearly wanted to expand, and in particular, it wanted the West Bank with its crucial water sources and its excellent farmland. Israel's own leaders have actually admitted that there was no threat of attack in 1967, and that Israel took it upon itself to start a war it knew it could win, in order to seize territory. More on that further down in this post....

Starting in 1964, Israel began plan to withdraw water from the Jordan River for its National Water Carrier. The following year, the Arab states began construction of the Headwater Diversion Plan, which, once completed, would divert the waters of the Banias Stream before the water entered Israel and the Sea of Galilee, to the flow instead into a dam at Mukhaiba for use by Jordan and Syria, and divert the waters of the Hasbani into the Litani River, in Lebanon. The diversion works would have reduced the installed capacity of Israel's carrier by about 35%, and Israel's overall water supply by about 11%.

Because of this, the Israeli Defense Forces attacked the diversion works in Syria in March, May, and August of 1965, perpetuating a prolonged chain of violent events directly linked to sparking the Six Day War.

Wow. This is essentially lifted verbatim from Wikipedia....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_war

....only it seems you added a few embellishments. I bolded your changes above, as opposed to the original text here:

Original Wikipedia:

"In 1964, Israel began withdrawing water from the Jordan River for its National Water Carrier."

Original Wikipedia:

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attacked the diversion works in Syria in March, May, and August of 1965, perpetuating a prolonged chain of border violence that linked directly to the events leading to war.[10]

Hmmm let's look at this. So diverting water is just cause for a war ? Here we encounter yet another of those absurd Zionist double standards. Before you answer in haste, reflect on how much water Israel diverts and withholds from the Palestinians:

Currently, Israel consumes more than 80 percent of Palestinian ground water and denies Palestinians their rightful utilization of the Jordan River. Israel allocates Palestinians 93 million cubic meters (mcm) per year for industrial use, and 153 mcm per year for agricultural use, leaving per capita consumption for domestic use at less than 30 cubic meters per year. Israeli settlers in the Occupied Territories are consuming Palestinian water at the rate of more than 75 mcm per year. On an annual, per capita basis, Israelis consume more than four times as much water as Palestinians.

Israel takes more than 80 percent of Palestinian water from the West Bank aquifers, accounting for 25 percent of Israel’s water needs. As a result of Israeli policies, Palestinians currently are utilizing 246 mcm annually to supply three million Palestinians in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and Gaza for their domestic, industrial, and agricultural needs. By comparison, Israel’s population, comprised of fewer than six million persons, is consuming 1,959 mcm annually. Thus, on an annual, per capita basis, Israelis consume 340 cubic meters of water, compared to 82 cubic meters consumed by Palestinians—more than four times as much. In addition, the approximately 380,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and some 5,000-7,000 settlers in Gaza annually consume 65 and 10 mcm, respectively.

http://www.palestinecenter.org/cpap/pubs/19990818ib.html

The discrimination between Palestinians and Israeli settlers regarding the supply of water is especially conspicuous in the many cases where settlements are located near a Palestinian town or village and are connected to the same Mekorot well. While the settlers benefit from an unlimited quantity of running water - including filling swimming pools and watering lawns, the Palestinian towns and villages suffer a severe shortage of running water, even for drinking and bathing. The report shows that the immediate reason for the shortage is Israel's discriminatory policy, employed through Mekorot. This policy includes drastically reducing the allotment of water for Palestinian towns and villages during the summer months in order to meet the increasing consumption in Israel and the Israeli settlements.

International law rejects the Israeli settlements' utilization of water resources in the Occupied Territories and requires a fairer distribution of shared water sources. Under international law, the two water sources shared by Israel and the Palestinians - the mountain aquifer and the Jordan Basin - constitute international waters to be shared by Israel and the Palestinians. Under the Helsinki fair-use principles,?? which state the rules for administering international waters, a re-division of the shared water sources must be made in favor of the Palestinians.

The fact that residents of the Occupied Territories do not receive sufficient water to meet their needs and suffer from a severe water shortage during the summer is indisputable. International law imposes on Israel, as the occupying power, the obligation to supply sufficient quantity and quality of water for the residents of the occupied territory. International law prohibits Israel from making changes in the occupied territory that are not intended for the benefit of the residents, and to use the water sources in the West Bank to benefit the Israeli settlements. Where a water shortage exists in the Occupied Territories, Israel must supply water from its own sources.

By giving preference to the Israeli settlements over the Palestinian residents vis-a-vis supply of water in the Occupied Territories, Israel blatantly violates the prohibition on discrimination and the principle of equality. This principle is unequivocally stated in the Hague Regulations, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Israel is party to all these instruments.

http://www.btselem.org/English/Publication...uted_Waters.asp

But you’re saying that a *potential* 11% loss of overall water capacity is a reasonable enough excuse for Israel to start a war. So I guess then, by the same token, you’ll have to give the Palestinians a pass for any attacks against Israel, because Palestinian water supplies have been far more grievously compromised by Israel. (And we’re not even talking about Israel’s cutting off of electricity to Gaza yet.) You have started down a very slippery slope with this line of argument.

In fact, there is a long record of Israel expressing “outrage” at others’ behavior, even though Israel engages in the same or even more outrageous behavior itself.

To be continued in my next post as I'm out of my allotted number of quotes :P

I am locking this thread at this time for review. Possibly to be reopened - by after quick review, not likely.

This topic will remain closed. As humans we all have bias based on our own experiences and positions in life. Clearly in this thread all sides have their own opinions and in most cases even 'factual' history can be subjectively interpreted. I think everyone should agree to disagree and realize that on some issues we will not all see eye to eye but we all are here, on this site, in the hopes of finding others going through the same experience in life. Immigration is NOT always fair and often people get rubber stamped (for good and bad) along the way for both expedience and as a safety measure. This procedure should not reflect back to the petitioner or beneficiary but is simply a matter of US immigration policy and standard practices.
